In life, we often feel like changing the environment, trying something unusual, getting a new experience. The desire for change can affect personal life, environment, daily routine and even yoga practice. This is especially true in any season: in winter we combine a walk in the snow with active yoga Snowga, in the fall we go to the park to admire the bright colors and meditate, enjoying the thoughtfulness and fading of nature, in the spring we hurry to throw off everything superfluous and jump out of the cramped hall of the yoga studio for fresh air, in the summer we are ready to get up early in order to have time to drop in for a workout before work in the park... Now that it has finally warmed up, I want to go outside and greet the sun not in a stuffy room, but on the tender grass and to the sound of birds singing...

Benefits of practicing yoga in nature

If your practice has faded, feel free to go outside. None, even the most comfortable and bright hall, can be compared with the living colors of nature! A change of scenery will help to reveal new aspects, deepen the sensations and diversify the practice. You can observe an amazing difference in how differently you feel in the same poses in the 4 walls of the studio and in the unlimited space, which gives freedom of movement, expanding physical and sensory limits, makes the practice deeper and more conscious.

There are plenty of compelling reasons to try outdoor yoga:

  1. Natural sounds and smells of nature have a beneficial effect on the psyche and emotional state. You find your place again in the arms of Mother Earth, returning to your "roots" and finding peace.
  2. Rest from the frantic pace modern life, reducing stress and anxiety levels.
  3. It is in nature that you simplify your life, discarding everything unnecessary, rejoicing in the simplest and most natural things - breathing, sensations, integrity.
  4. Sunny days are The best way eliminate the lack of vitamin D: it is produced by our body under the influence of the sun.
  5. Cleansing the lungs of the toxic air we breathe indoors.
  6. Let nature inspire you! Even memorized complexes will become extraordinary if you connect to the natural source of improvisation.

Summer is a wonderful time when we can enjoy the sun, fresh air, green grass and trees, fresh fruits and vegetables. For yogis, summer also opens up great opportunities, because right now it is so useful and pleasant to conduct yoga classes in nature. This is especially true for residents of megacities, so yoga in Moscow parks is what those Muscovites who want to get a boost of energy from Mother Nature herself need. You will learn about what yoga in parks is and what its features are by reading our article.

Yoga in Moscow parks 2016

Yoga lessons on outdoors it is better to spend in not too noisy places, where there is green grass underfoot and tall trees that create a cozy shade. Moscow parks are perfect for this purpose. This year it was decided to hold yoga classes in more than 30 parks in Moscow. In each of them, a suitable clearing has been selected, where you can practice asanas, pranayamas and meditations completely free of charge. The classes will present a wide variety of styles and directions of yoga. These include classical hatha yoga, ashtanga and kundalini yoga, laughter yoga, yoga for children and pregnant women, as well as various master classes and yoga for beginners. Certified yoga masters will allow you to get acquainted with different directions, and if you are a beginner, choose the style of yoga you like. All you need is the desire and good mood, comfortable clothes, a light blanket, a bottle of water and, of course, ! For rainy weather, many parks have awnings that allow you to enjoy nature without getting wet. You can easily find information about the parks, their location and class schedules on the Internet.

Benefits of outdoor practice

So, changing the environment and going outside the usual studio, you will certainly feel the difference in how you feel in the same asanas. Outdoor activities balance the psycho-emotional state and favor more conscious practice. Feeling your unity with nature, you will feel a surge of emotions from simple things: your own breath, a light breeze, sunlight. In addition, in contact with the surface of the earth, your body synchronizes the biological clock, which means that your sleep will improve and your stress level will decrease.

Now imagine how much more effective your pranayama practice will be in the open air! You will saturate your body with oxygen, and in meditation you will feel peace from the sounds of nature. In addition, yoga in the park is a great opportunity to choose your style of yoga or find your teacher if you are a beginner yogi. And, of course, such wonderful events contribute to new impressions and new acquaintances with like-minded people!

Yoga classes are equated in terms of effectiveness with sports, but this is a slightly distorted and incorrect judgment. Such a practice puts in order not only the body, but also the mental, psychological state. Yoga classes in the park in the fresh air are gaining great popularity.

Place to practice

Important parts of yoga: self-knowledge and peace, so not all places are suitable for practices. It is unlikely that someone will be able to relax among a large crowd of people and during a noisy concert. In warm seasons, cozy parks (forests, cottages) with soft lawns and tall trees are ideal. Some also resort to practice on the roof, which has its advantages: it is less dusty and noisy upstairs, it is not too hot in the morning, but the sun is very close. But it should be borne in mind that the building should be new and as safe as possible, and access to the roof should be allowed.

Practicing yoga on the street: the necessary equipment

Taking into account that classes will be held outside the premises, and perhaps quite far from home and civilization in general, it is worth having a special mat, comfortable clothes for classes and good mood. In order to play it safe, you can take a warmer sports jacket and socks with you. Warm clothes and even a thin blanket may be needed in cases of cold weather, which is quite possible in nature.

Do not forget about water, and if it takes a long time to get home, you can take a healthy snack: fruits, cereal bars, dairy products.

Clothing for outdoor yoga

Outdoor yoga requires special, and most importantly, comfortable clothing. In the process of training, nothing should bring discomfort and distract attention. Jeans, a large number of jewelry, tight and restricting movements of the knee socks, as well as loose hair - definitely not the right option. Yoga clothes don't cost much. It can be a loose T-shirt and pants (leggings). The main condition that the vestments must meet is maximum convenience, and, if possible, the naturalness of the fabrics.

Another important aspect is that it is desirable to practice without shoes (bare feet). But it’s better to have socks and sports shoes with you, the wind will suddenly rise, why do you need cold feet?

Exercises suitable for outdoor yoga

Many experts and specialists have come to the conclusion that almost all yoga exercises are designed specifically for outdoor activities. Tilts, stretches, stances and fixations are easy to perform on a mat located on soft grass. Also, nature is ideal for meditation: it is more difficult for a beginner to concentrate, but there is less chance of falling asleep in the process. Enjoying fresh air and natural sounds helps you quickly achieve harmony and enjoy your workout.

Since pranayama (breathing) is of great importance in yoga, it is much more effective in the air than in stuffy rooms with stale air. The body will be saturated with oxygen, classes will bring even more positive results.

In addition, all activities in nature carry aesthetic pleasure.

Meet like-minded people, experience new experiences, feel unity with nature and discover yoga with a completely new side All of this includes outdoor activities.

Open outdoor activities are popular all over the world, they are held free of charge or for a minimal fee, often symbolic. In Russia, various cultural open airs of a health-improving nature are becoming more and more popular. You can take part in handicraft workshops, listen to the performances of "garage groups" and be sure to participate in a yoga marathon. In the summer of 2015 in St. Petersburg, a three-day yoga festival was held in the TsPKiO park. Looking forward to the same this year! If you are embarrassed to practice on the street alone - yoga in a group - great start together is always more fun!
