Is it easy to swim in the evening on a working day? How much are the tickets? Where are 8 people crowding on the same path, and where is almost no one? Where is the bottom overgrown with a dirty coating? Our first story is about the former Labor Reserves, the swimming pool of the Republican Center for Olympic Training in Athletics.
We will check availability by phone in advance. At the box office they report: 18 single tickets remain for free sale for the next evening show, more than 30 for the next show, and more than 50 for the next one. There are no problems at all - you can come at any time.
We throw swimming trunks, a hat, slippers into a backpack. Don't forget about help. In most pools, certificates are not required today. But you never know.
By the way, in the clinic at the place of residence you are unlikely to immediately write out a certificate. After looking through the outpatient card, the doctor will probably give directions for blood and urine tests, and send for an ECG. And will certainly require a fluorography. You have to run around the offices. Health must be monitored - so it's the right thing. Well, if you don’t want to be irradiated once again, you can go to a private medical center, where a certificate will be issued without any tests for thousands over 40. They will only ask for a passport and check if there is a rash on the skin.
The pool is located on Kalinouski, 111 - Zeleny Lug district, the outskirts of Minsk. Get to public transport not very convenient. From the metro station "Vostok" - several stops by minibus, bus or trolleybus. Then 5 minutes walk. You can also take the 37th bus across Karbysheva or Kalinovsky Street.
We arrived by car. On the back side of the sports complex, some repair work was carried out - it was not possible to get into the parking lot. I had to leave my car along the road.
From the inside, the sports complex is somewhat reminiscent of a waiting room at a railway station in a provincial town. TV broadcasts from the wall. Under it are three dozen plastic chairs. There is a sports shop, a kiosk, a cafe and a bistro that sell pizza, sausages in dough, pies with potatoes, tubules with condensed milk. Nearby is a kiosk with magazines.
The lobby is crowded - noise, running around. Rustling packages with a "shift", children and older schoolchildren scurry back and forth.
The swimming pool of the former Labor Reserves is one of the cheapest in the city. A single ticket for a 45-minute session costs 50 thousand rubles. There are swimming pools in Minsk, which cost 2-3 times more to visit. True, there are bonuses in the form of a sauna, jacuzzi or hydrotherapy. There is nothing of the kind here. Swim yourself from wall to wall and that's it.
Adult passes for the following month go on sale on the 28th and sell out on a first come, first served basis.

However, does it make sense to take a subscription and be tied to specific sessions, if at almost any hour, even in the evenings, there are empty seats in the pool?
There is a cubicle at the entrance to the locker room. There, another staff member takes cashier's checks and strings them on a nail. A certificate from the clinic can not be deployed - no one here requires it.
We change our shoes in the “dressing room” (it’s good that we grabbed bags for shoes) and go to the locker room. There are lockers in two tiers around the perimeter of the room. In the center are benches in a row and a chipped table.
The storage system is organized in an interesting way. A stand with two sections hangs on the wall: free keys on the left, occupied keys on the right. To take a locker, you need to take one of the keys in the left section, and before going to the shower, hang it under the desired number on the right side of the section. Thus, while you are swimming, the key to the locker with your things remains hanging for all to see.
In the locker room there is a watchman in a blue coat - a man over 50 years of age. It is highly doubtful that he will keep track of all the visitors and remember who changed where. Moreover, the watchman can leave the locker room. During our session, he went to wipe the pool floors.
In one of the wall ads, the administration honestly admits that it does not bear any responsibility for the things left behind. Everything valuable is recommended to be handed over to the controller at the entrance.
The caretaker's closet is located in the far corner of the locker room.

The showers look gloomy. Ugly vent pipe, chipped tiles, dirty tile joints. Shower heads are located at a height of approximately 190 cm - tall people will be uncomfortable. When all the stalls are occupied and water is splashing on the floor, a drain problem is discovered.
“Before entering the pool bath, be sure to wash yourself by removing your swimming trunks,”- reads one of the local ads. Golden Rule. Another would add - to wash with soap. Alas, the culture of visiting pools in Minsk leaves much to be desired. In front of our eyes, one man marched dry from the locker room straight into the pool.
Children's groups often train in the pool, for which one or more lanes are rented. Boys about 12 years old began to fool around in the shower. They collected water in rubber caps and poured water on each other.

The pool is standard - 25 meters. Six lanes 2.5 meters wide each. Depth - from 1.2 to 1.8 meters. We go down into the water. Brr! And here you do not SPA. Swim or you'll freeze.
The smell of bleach is almost non-existent. The water is too cloudy (is it because the visitors forget to wash in the shower?). Visibility under water - 4 meters, no more. On the bottom, if you look closely, lumps of some kind of dust dangle. It's still nothing. There were even worse times: 10 years ago, a slimy coating turned green on the tiles.
