What is kundalini yoga. Kundalini Yoga: Fundamentals and Principles

Kundalini yoga is becoming more and more popular. Today it is in many large yoga centers. Classes begin with the chanting of mantras. Those who practice it wear white clothes and headdresses, and also call themselves special spiritual names. Sometimes this causes resistance from the environment, and some even say that Kundalini Yoga is a dangerous practice. Let's see if this is actually the case.

Fact 1. Quick practice for the working person. Kundalini Yoga works very fast. In order to feel the effect of the class, sometimes 15 minutes is enough. In Kundalini Yoga there are special sets for 9 minutes, after which you will feel refreshed. But in fairness, it should be noted that after them it is recommended to do shavasana. So 15-20 minutes is the minimum time for a class.

Fact 2. White clothes expand the aura. The reason why it is recommended to wear white in Kundalini Yoga cotton clothes, especially for teachers, is simple to the point of banality. White color and natural fabric add half a meter to your electromagnetic field. Don't believe? Try to go to some place completely in white and see what the effect will be.

Fact 3. Kundalini Yoga provides a burst of energy. Indeed, after the practice of Kundalini Yoga, a state of deep bliss is rarely felt. Much more often there is a huge surge of strength with which you want to move mountains and solve all the situations that bother you in life. And here caution is important, because in this state there is a strong temptation to "cut off the shoulder."

Fact 4. Recovering addictions is real! It used to be thought that drug addiction could not be cured. Kundalini Yoga has shattered this myth. Many of the now popular teachers of this direction are former drug addicts who have experienced firsthand what a clean life without addictions is. Practice gives a switch to pleasures of a different level and order. Therefore, mild addictions disappear by themselves, and severe ones can be treated.

Fact 5. Impact on the hormonal system. Kundalini Yoga works on different levels, from the physical to the most subtle planes. However, the main work takes place at the level of the hormonal system. All exercises are arranged in a certain sequence - kriya, the actions of which cannot be changed. Each kriya is aimed at achieving some effect, for example: cleansing the liver and gallbladder, diving into deep meditation, stimulating the lymphatic system, relieving menstrual pain, etc.

Fact 6. You can start with advanced practices. You come to class and immediately enter into a deep process of transformation. In this direction, special attention is paid to breathing and asanas, but no one builds their performance for years. In other words, it is quite possible that when you get to the first lesson, you will immediately begin to perform agni pranayama and other special breathing techniques in combination with a variety of exercises. It is believed that the body has physical wisdom. It itself will take from the lesson what it needs for today.

Fact 7. A turban or cap improves concentration. In Kundalini Yoga, it is customary to cover the head with a natural white cloth. The headdress worn by some teachers of this direction is called a turban. It is essentially a long piece of white cotton cloth that wraps around the head. The winding creates light pressure and improves blood circulation in the head. Due to this, brain activity is stimulated and the ability to concentrate increases. Cap - is a simplified analogue of a turban.

Fact 8. The difference between beginners and advanced is patience. As a rule, the same sets of exercises are used in different classes: for beginners and for advanced yogis. The difference is only in time, how long practitioners can do the same exercise.

Fact 9. The spiritual name is a personal mantra. Many practitioners of Kundalini Yoga have a spiritual name in addition to their usual name. It is issued with the help of numerology: the date of birth is calculated and a name is given, the vibrations of which are able to awaken a particular soul to the realization of its destiny. That is why Kundalini Yogis love it so much when you call them by their spiritual name. It's like talking directly to the soul.

Fact 10. Psychoyoga. The master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan, left behind a whole layer of teachings about human life, ranging from healthy eating and proper daily routine. Ending with the relationship of a man and a woman, the upbringing of children and the knowledge of one's true nature. Therefore, when you come to a class on Kundalini Yoga, be prepared for the fact that you will be “loaded with theory”!

The art of yoga originated in the culture of Indian civilization as early as the 11th century BC. Kundalini yoga connects our individual limited consciousness with the transcendental consciousness, with the Higher Self, unconditioned by anything, i.e. with the Absolute Truth.

Also, yoga is a means for pacification, curbing and gaining control over the mind, emotions, feelings, body, i.e. subject to constant fluctuations and disturbances. Here it is very important to understand that we do not suppress them, but take control over them so as not to be their slaves.

Word " Kundalini” translates as “curl”. This is energy, figuratively coiled into a spiral, a “curl”, which is located in a person at the base of the spine and sleeps for the time being, while we, practicing Kundalini yoga, we will not gradually clear all the energy channels in the body, we will balance the chakras. Then it will automatically rise through all the chakras to the top of the head. At this moment, a person enters the state of Samadhi - awareness, when the Self cognizes itself, the Soul again remembers its true nature and, merging with the Primordial Light, sees things as they really are, all the beauty of the Divine Game.

Is Kundalini Yoga a Religion?

No, Kundalini yoga it is not a religion.

All technicians Kundalini Yoga aimed at developing the individual abilities of a person in such a way that their own sensitivity and awareness can control the spiritual choice of a person, as well as his choice in relation to uplifting and downgrading habits. We have many techniques to help us experience the relationship between our finite self and our "infinite" self. This is yoga, not religion.

It is spiritual in that it always gives the experience of connecting with the larger self, the community of others, and the greater realms in which we are involved.

Basically, practitioners of Kundalini yoga note that their spiritual path has become deeper, no matter which tradition they belong to, because. the mind is cleared, the energy level rises, the emotions become purer and uplifted.

What will be the result of practicing Kundalini yoga?

Very often people ask the question of what special Kundalini yoga can give them, which they will not get by practicing other types of yoga. I decided to write a detailed answer to this very important topic for understanding.

IN Kundalini yoga There are thousands of sets of exercises. From them, you can choose the ones that are right for you. For example, complexes for the kidneys, for gastrointestinal tract, complexes for strengthening immune system. We work with the endocrine system, which is the regulator of the activity of the whole organism as a whole. Also, all exercises help to improve blood flow, increased blood supply to all organs. Therefore, in a month or two you will feel significant improvements in your physical condition. Perhaps this will be expressed in the fact that you will stop certain pains, there will be more energy, tone in the body, vitality.

I really want to draw your attention to the fact that in this type of yoga, as probably in no other, we work with the psyche, with consciousness and subconsciousness. Our grievances, anger, anger, fears, past relationships, attachments - to food, to smoking, alcohol, or to sensations - for example, the expectation of praise, recognition - all these are things that are deeply rooted in our head in the form of patterns, and in order to overcome them, a lot of energy is needed, which would rebuild habitual patterns of thinking, and therefore behavior. This is exactly the energy we generate with the help of Kundalini Yoga. And over time, the people around you will notice that you have become different, and you will understand that you are moving to another level of being, where you feel much better and happier.

Kundalini yoga- yoga of the householder. She does not call us to leave society, sit under a palm tree in a loincloth and live on alms. Vice versa. It was created so that we can improve our life in our environment - interact more effectively with the world and with our loved ones. We learn to understand and accept ourselves and others as they are - here and now, at this moment, in this huge city, on the beautiful planet Earth.

So, practicing kundalini yoga You:

- learn to create energy
– gain skills that will allow you to focus attention within yourself
- you can control your mind
- overcome your fears and false limitations
Get rid of negative habits and addictions
- develop your intuition
– Achieve a state of deep inner peace and fulfillment
Stop dwelling on the past and open up to your future
- learn to understand and love other people
- Build healthy relationships with loved ones
- you will give people light and warmth
– you will be able to trust the world, feeling yourself in the flow of life, and not apart from it
- start enjoying your own life
– Feel the result after the first session

How often should you do yoga?

What to choose: group lessons, individual classes or can I study at home on my own?

On group lesson teachers try to take time for everyone, observe how a person performs exercises and correct it. In a joint lesson, group energy comes into play. Often in a group you can get a completely different experience of living the same kriya or meditation. Plus, you communicate, meet new people who are close to you in spirit, you can discuss common topics with them, share your problems with them. You will definitely get support and good advice.

private lesson, as in any other area, provides an individual approach to you, sets of exercises are selected to suit your needs to solve exactly your tasks and achieve your goals.

self-study at home is very important if you want to quickly get the effect of the practice. But, if you are practicing from a book or from a video recording, without noticing it yourself, you can make mistakes in understanding why this complex is needed, how to perform this exercise correctly, what it is for, what points, nuances you need to pay attention to. Unfortunately, exhaustive information in such materials is not given. Therefore, the whole positive effect from employment can be reduced to zero.

Based on the foregoing, I would recommend beginners to practice Kundalini yoga combine energetically powerful group classes with several individual ones so that the teacher can choose a program for you that you can then do at home on your own.

How are yoga classes in Moscow?

The structure of the Kundalini Yoga class is the same for every class. Any teacher is obliged to adhere to a clear order given to us by the Master in order to preserve the integrity and sacredness of the teachings of Kundalini Yoga.

Setting . The class begins with the opening of space - we sing the Adi mantra, thereby tuning the flow of personal energy to the Universal energy.

At the beginning of the lesson, before the main part, we do a complex breathing exercises or a workout.

Warm up wonderfully prepares us for the main action. Energy begins to circulate faster, we tune in to breathing and its connection with movements, warm up and relax muscles. Sometimes we do a warm-up for those muscles that will not participate in the main complex.

The main set of exercises. In Kundalini Yoga we use ready-made complexes given to us by Yogi Bhajan. The Kundalini Yoga instructor has no right to make changes to the complex. Typically, this main part of the session takes about 30 minutes.

Then, the released and generated energy during the exercises should be distributed throughout the body, without the participation of the mind. Therefore, after relaxation where we let go of all thoughts and let the body relax.

And at the end of the lesson we perform kundalini meditation . It can be with or without mantras. Meditation is aimed at achieving certain psycho-emotional effects. It also allows you to connect with your Soul, to hear your true self.

IN end of class we sing a song sending blessings and love to all living beings on the planet. We share with them the energy and benefits that we received during the Kundalini yoga class. And we close the space with a mantra.

What will be needed for the lesson?

– Take a small bottle of non-carbonated water with you. During class, you can and even need to drink, especially before relaxation.
– Wear comfortable, loose-fitting (preferably white) clothing made from natural fibers.
– Shawl or blanket to cover yourself in the process of relaxation and meditation (there are blankets in the hall).
- Also, for relaxation, bring socks with you.

How many hours before class do I not eat?

Can I practice if I have...?

…period?

- women during the first three days of the menstrual cycle should avoid heavy physical exertion. The following exercises are prohibited: Bow Pose, Breath of Fire, Pull Pose, Camel Pose, Locust Pose, Root Lock, Sat Kriya, Shoulderstand and all inverted postures, Abs exercises, Vigorous Leg Raises exercises. Instead, while lying in Shavasana or sitting in easy pose, breathing slowly and deeply, imagine yourself doing these exercises. Often, from such a passive performance, the effect is greater than from an active one.

... frequent dizziness, fainting, marked high or low blood pressure, recent serious injuries, recent surgeries, problems with the spine and joints, cardiovascular diseases diagnosed by a doctor, severe depression (observed by a doctor), severe psychological stress, asthma attacks, severe allergies to odors and dust?

- in this case, contact the instructor before class.

spinal hernia, hypertonic disease, epilepsy, congenital heart disease, cholelithiasis, alcohol or drug intoxication, the period of taking tranquilizers, antidepressants and other psychotropic drugs?

- Kundalini yoga is contraindicated for you.

I have never really been into sports. Maybe I won't get anything?

Usually, when people hear the word "yoga", they think that this is a practice for some unusual people who can tie a knot, stand on their heads, etc. In fact, this is not true at all. Get started Kundalini yoga almost any adult can. There are no super difficult poses here.

You should not be afraid that yoga is not for you because your body is not very athletic and unprepared. Our lesson is built in such a way that we always alternate load and relaxation.

At what age can you do Kundalini yoga?

Adult classes can be attended from 19 years of age.
Special classes Kundalini yoga are held:
- for pregnant,
– for children from 3 to 11 years old,
- for teenagers.

These strange words: kriya, pranayama, bandha...

- serial set of exercises, which creates a certain flow of energy in the body. We release energy in such a way that it works with organs, systems, or those centers that are responsible for anger, resentment, unconscious memory, etc.

Kundalini yoga is not a sport, much less a competition. Doing exercises is, first of all, the inner work of each person. So don't look at other practitioners doing the exercises in class. The more focused you are, the better you can track internal sensations, your state, and changes taking place in the body.

- it is certain way of breathing. Pranayama is an important step towards self-awareness and the main tool in Kundalini Yoga. In this case, we are aware of the breath, we concentrate on the inhalation and exhalation. The lungs open up, their useful volume increases, in order to make it easier for us to perform exercises in kriya. The mind calms down. In the body, energy begins to flow through the channels of Nadi.

In general, of all the good things that a person can do for himself - learning to breathe correctly and control breathing - perhaps the best. It is the most effective tool for improving health and increasing vitality.

means "castle". In this case, we are talking about bodily locks. With the help of locks, we mix the flows of two energies in the body - prana and apana, the energy of life and the energy of purification, so that the Kundalini energy can increase and, starting to move up, and not down, along the spine, open the upper energy centers.

When doing bandhas, we use the energy that flows in the spinal cord and brain. Because of this, bodily locks are more effective than simple muscle tension, such as arms or legs. We usually do bandhas while holding the breath while inhaling or exhaling. When performing a kriya, the first condition is the position of the body, the second is the locks.

Why do you need to meditate, and even sing mantras?

Meditation- the process of cleansing the subconscious from pollution. Past reactions - attraction, aversion to something - affect our recognition of the present. Therefore, we do not see reality, but look at the world as if through a dirty glass. At the beginning, a person needs to get rid of patterns, stereotypes - blocks that have settled in his subconscious, pulling them out, having lived and destroying them, and then not allowing new patterns of behavior to appear.

For a person of our culture and mentality, at the beginning, singing mantras in class can become a kind of challenge. But Kundalini yoga does not do without mantras. We use as a tool for meditation. During meditation it is not possible to get rid of all thoughts. Our brain is designed in such a way that every second a thousand thoughts are born in it. But if we don't react to thoughts, don't develop them, let them just float by, that's meditation. Plus, repeating the words of a mantra helps us calm the mind.

In addition, the mantra has tremendous transformational power. The power lies in the sound vibration of the mantra. Every thought and feeling that we have has a certain frequency of vibration. The same applies to the sounds we utter, and even more so to the words. With the help of mantras, we make our mind vibrate at the frequency of the mantra.

When we pronounce a certain sequence of sounds, we touch the tip of the tongue to the meridian points located in the upper palate. From there, the signal goes to the hypothalamus (one of the most important endocrine glands in our body), and then stimulates the pineal gland, which begins to radiate, and the frequency of vibration of brain neurons increases. Due to this, old patterns are destroyed and they are replaced by combinations of neurons of a new quality, carrying high vibrations.

If reading Kundalini yoga mantras and meditation will enter your habitual way of life, then soon you will notice positive changes. You will become more calm, balanced, and nothing can unsettle your emotional state. The light of your aura will attract to you only positive circumstances and people who are “on the same wavelength” with you.

Kundalini yoga is the yoga of awareness. Listen to your body, be attentive all the time in the body, try not to be distracted by extraneous thoughts. The more you are relaxed and mindful of yourself, the better the results will be and the more mindfulness you will develop.

- Get over yourself. For example, if you think you can only do an exercise that is difficult for you for one minute, then try doing it for one minute and ten seconds, and the next time for one minute and twenty seconds, and so on.

- Strictly follow the description kriya kundalini yoga! Never swap exercises; do not skip the exercise, even if it is very difficult, try to complete it for at least a few seconds; do not exceed the maximum allowed exercise time (it is always indicated).

– During practice, we usually breathe through the nose, unless otherwise indicated. Mentally repeat “Sat” with inhalation, “Nam” with exhalation, unless otherwise indicated. kundalini mantra.

- Beginners can afford to pause between exercises up to 1 minute. Do nothing, just listen to the changes that have taken place. Let the energy flow freely.

– In class, feel free to ask Teacher for clarification on the exercises or other aspects of the practice – raise your hand, Teacher will definitely come to you. There is no need to shout a question to the whole hall, disturbing other practitioners.

– Drink water as needed between exercises and before relaxation.

What should I do after practicing Kundalini Yoga?

– Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins from the body and replenish moisture.
- Try not to talk much, maintaining a state of inner balance and unity with yourself.
- Do not take a bath or shower for at least 2 hours, so as not to disturb the acquired energy balance.

Tell me, please, how many metidations can be done for beginners? Is it better to do 1 at different times or can you do several in a row?

Tatyana, the most important thing is that the beginner should have enough attention and concentration when doing the practices.
You can do 2 in a row, but you need to specifically consider each case - practices are compatible or not. When not, we spread them by time - one in the morning, the other - in the afternoon or evening.

Very useful information! Accessible and understandable, as a beginner to practice kundilini yoga, they answered almost all my questions! Sat Nam!

Thanks Elena for your feedback! Sat Nam!

Hello! I have a question. How compatible are KY and religion? My husband converted to Islam two years ago and he really wants me to follow him in this matter, but he does not put pressure on me, and has nothing against my yoga classes, as he sees positive changes in me that occur through practice (yes, he is a rather unusual Muslim)))). I really want to make my husband happy and even tried to perform the fivefold prayer for a while and fasted in Ramadan - I like it all, but still the philosophy and practice of yoga is closer to me in spirit, and it seems a little incompatible. Or is it still possible to successfully combine yoga and religion?

Ekamayi, hello! Of course, you can combine yoga and religion. Yoga is not a religion. In my group, for example, there are many Orthodox people who regularly attend church, but this does not prevent them from doing Kundalini yoga. The most important thing to understand is that there are many roads, but the goal is one. Listen to yourself, trust yourself. If yoga helps you - practice)

I would like to do yoga on Tuesday and Thursday from 16 to 18. Do you have such classes. Julia

Julia, hello! Unfortunately no. Mon and Wed only.

Good time! I have two small hernias of the spine in lumbar, and a great desire to start practicing KY. What do i do?

Valeria, hello! Hernias are restrictions on the performance of certain asanas. A specialist (osteopath, yoga therapist), based on the results of your MRI, should tell you exactly which exercises you should not do (for example, the Camel Pose, the Bow Pose, the Half Bridge Pose, etc.). You can do it by excluding these poses or performing their light versions very carefully. You can also do almost all meditations.
If during practice it becomes painful, then IMMEDIATELY stop any action, do not endure in any case.

I have initial venous insufficiency; Is it possible with the help of Kundalini yoga to come to recovery?

Maria, hello! KY is not therapeutic yoga. You need to contact a yoga therapist first.

    Elena, hello!
Please tell me how to learn to understand by yourself which kriyas, meditations or shabdas are combined and practiced in a row, and which are not. Or at least where you can read about it. This would help me a lot!

You can learn this on the training program for a KY teacher. Unfortunately, they don't write about it in books.

Thank you, I'm very glad to meet you)

    Thanks, Irina! Sat Nam!

Elena, hello! How is it better for a beginner to choose kriyas in such a variety? Do you have to do the same kriya for a certain amount of time, or can you change the kriya each time?

Hello! Kriya is usually selected based on your goals. What would you like to achieve with the help of KY, what problems to solve? If you want, you can write to me by mail, I will give you recommendations. The minimum time to complete one practice is 40 days daily.

I HAVE BEEN DOING CALIBER MEDITATION FOR 83 DAYS WITH NO CHANGES

Hello, Elena! What is the sequence of releasing locks at the final stage of Maha Bandha? I watched your video called Castles, the video is wonderful,
    but this question remains unanswered

Hello Leonid! The locks are released at the same time, and then a breath is taken.

If we practice Ujjayi breathing, then by definition we also perform Jalandara - bandha without even realizing it? Or Jalandhara - bandha can be performed in this case not to the full extent of completeness?

Hello Leonid! Generally a light Throat Lock is held by default during yoga practice, unless otherwise noted. The neck should become like a continuation of a straight spine.

    Good afternoon

I recently completed the entire course of Kundalini Yoga on a video course. I did all the exercises for each chakra every day for 40 days. All in all it took me 11 months. Feelings are very pleasant. I like it. Although it took a very long time. But now the question arose - what next? I want to continue to do the exercises, but in a more relaxed rhythm. But what exactly? I don’t want to start all over again - again go through all the chakras? Or in some other way? Tell me please!

Marie, hello! Usually, practices are selected based on the request - to solve some specific problems.

Yoga has been developed and practiced for over 10,000 years. YOUR information is wrong. The complex for 10 bodies must be performed completely - correctly, not 120 days, but 160 on one side of the body. Then 160 to another. Of course, with a change of hands. A total of 320 days. And so YOU have a gross imperfection. On the chakras, you need to do not 40 days, but 80 at least.
Our body consists of 2 parts, so 40 days is suitable for beginners.

08/13/2017 SAT NAM - “Knowledge is POWER”.

Sergey, hello! Tell me, please, where did you get the information about 320 days? And please specify what TWO parts our body consists of?

The practice of cleansing for 10 bodies implies a complete and QUALITY cleansing. 1) 40 days-cleansing the physical body is the minimum for all practitioners. The 2nd 40 days is the cleansing of the etheric body from the dirt of food and air. 3) 40 days is the cleansing of the astral level of emotions and evil eyes. 4) 40 days is the cleansing of the mental level, that is, the mental level. Therefore, YOU have a cycle of 120 days is not complete. It cost me too much in the past from ignorance, INCOMPLETE exercise. This work -by exercise 10 bodies = as YOU called it, will be completed in 160 days for “half”. We consist of two bodies - connected together. Therefore, we have an asymmetry of bodies RIGHT AND LEFT. Different energy. YOU perform only on one body, but you need to do it on 2. That's where 320 days come from. That's why you need to change hands every day - so that the right and left (sides) of the body are worked out harmoniously, without distortions. That's where another 160 days come from - a total of 320. That's right, you don't become masters in a short time. You are only an average teacher so far and it's great that you continue to practice in depth. You still have something to work on.
Your teachers do not have complete information and it is not their fault. Too much knowledge is dangerous that YOU bring to the world. That is why in given time given not full information yoga for everyone. Real yogis are not engaged in mass training - there are very few of them and what they know is mortally dangerous without appropriate security measures, you are simply protected from harm to yourself and others.
Hence the gaps in knowledge. Even 10 bodies are not correct and not complete. But closer to the truth. And the so-called "CHAKRAS" are also quantitative nonsense for YOU and others. But for ordinary people, it's enough.
    August 13, 2017. Sergei H.

Sir, thank you for the detailed explanation. The site contains information about meditations and kriyas of Kundalini yoga school of Yogi Bhajan. This means that exactly as our Teacher said. If we change the Teaching, then it will be something else, but not this Parampara. Therefore, everyone chooses for himself which path to follow.

The Teaching does not need to be changed. Your predecessors and YOUR teacher showed you and passed on to you what others knew and were able to do before him. This experience did not fall from the sky, but by trial and error through the centuries it was selected and transmitted as YOU know. Only YOU, in complexes with mantras, are already undergoing a SUBSTITUTION between exercises with mantras, everything is right here. - And here is where, you fuss EXACTLY THE TEACHING - YOU are silent .. You at least make a reference - make it to where it is already “RELIGIOUS TEACHING”. I can see and it is clear where the substitution is, and ordinary students, as a rule, do not understand the intricacies. And most importantly, if YOU, with your head, do not think, but blindly repeat what YOU were given NOT ADAPTED to modern reality, there will be harm. In RUSSIA, singing mantras and doing exercises does not bring quite the result as YOU think. There are no questions about exercises - there is an obvious benefit. But the mantras in OUR culture and mentality are distorted by our energy. We have a slightly different sound to get the same effect. So, think and meditate on this question. Do you think that I am explaining to you simply, because there is nothing to do? In the future, YOUR sown seeds will sprout, but who will have to correct the mistakes? You are currently a middle-level teacher and you can't see the result that will be in the future. Without searching and developing new experience, ossification occurs. What works great at one time, at another time and place, brings a different result. No matter how good the intentions are.
I shared my knowledge with you so that you can see a little. Moreover, this is not a complete complex that has been presented to you - it is somewhat larger. Especially since YOU are concentrated on one extreme of yoga, this narrows the vision of the picture as a whole. In the future, you will encounter this issue again, but in a slightly different form.
SAT NAM - “Who owns knowledge, then owns the world.”

Happy DAY PRINCESS! The cycle of 1000 days really manifests itself. Of course, if you accurately track from the day you start. For 1001 days, there is a qualitative change in physical plane. That is, the number of accumulated days goes to a qualitatively different level. Checked on experience. But this is a rather difficult study, since it is difficult to feel and evaluate real changes without increased sensitivity. But there is a difference.
Here you need a vegetarian diet, to increase sensitivity.
There is also a cycle of 600 days, 1 year - these cycles also appear, but somewhat smoothed out. 6oo days are very difficult to feel - it manifests itself a little on 601 days as a surge of new strength and improvement in well-being. Here the cyclicity “15” - for 40 days and “25” - for 40 days is manifested. So, the information on the SITE that YOU provided is true.
Your SITE is excellent and deserves trust. Therefore, I share my experience, other sites do not withstand any criticism. Low level of students.
    SAT NAM 18.08.2017 Sergey

With apple SAVING YOU - PRINCESS! I see that you have decided to learn more in meditation. You just bombarded me with your questions. If YOU really need KNOWLEDGE so badly, turn to your mentors in meditation. You will get the information you need when the time comes. And meditate on real yogis - these teachers know much more, the experience is useful. An AURA of fun emanates from you, it is positive and pleasant that YOU make me smile.
    Who seeks will always find.
    SAT NAM - 08/19/2017. Sergei H.

Sergey, hello! Thanks for the congratulations and kind words! Sat Nam!

Is it possible to copy the material to your computer in order to read the text in an enlarged size ....

Nina, hello! No, the text is copy-protected. But you can zoom the page up to 150% in the browser for example. Then the font will increase.

With a pleasant evening mood Elena. There is a great opportunity to track the RESULTS of classes “visually”, and you can see the result and problem areas that need more attention. I used photography of AURA- (CHAKRA) in my practice. It is convenient and immediately visible. Especially - how the energy changes, the size of the AURA, the balance of energies. It helped me greatly reduce the time for other kriyas. You can immediately see which of the students is at what level, and you can also IMMEDIATELY see from the photo how the CHAKRAS are being worked out. A useful tool for practitioners. If YOU take a photo of the AURA for yourself, it is useful reverse visual information to look at yourself from the outside. For (40 days) development courses - effective control over the results before and after the development. While working with the chakras, the color of the AURA changes. This is my experience - it can be useful to YOU as an auxiliary to you and your students.
SAT NAM- "KNOWLEDGE-POWER". August 25, 2017 Sergey Kh.

Negativity is felt from Sergey ....

Elena, hello. I completed a course of video exercises for the 4th chakra. My back hurt so badly in the lumbar region that I can’t even bend over. I don’t even know what it is. And you can take a break and how much. I don't want to stop, but I can't continue because of the pain. What exercises can be done for back pain. With respect and I hope for your help, Irina.

Irina, hello! I think that you need to go to the doctor, do an MRI of the spine. Then, with the results, contact a yoga therapist - a specialist who has a medical education, but works with the methods of Hatha yoga. KY is not therapeutic yoga, so classes on this moment need to stop.

So I will have to start all over again from 1 chakra, I mean if there is big break in the exercises. Of course, I hope everything works out. I have been involved in sports all my life. Yoga for almost a year and on you. Wouldn't want to finish. Thank you Elena for everything!

Irina, I am sure that everything will be fine, you will recover and continue your studies! Do not get attached to the sequential study of the chakras - this, in my opinion, makes no sense. It is necessary to work only with those centers at the level of which there is a problem. If a person has a problem with money, work, constant fears for his life, complete distrust of the world, division into “I” and “world” – then you need to work with the first chakra. In all other cases it makes no sense.

Elena, thank you very much for your support!

At least you wrote that it is very dangerous for people with a labile psyche to raise kundalini

Arina, a counter question: where did I write that we specifically raise Kundalini?

Elena, good afternoon. Everything is fine with the back. Tell me, is it possible to do a warm-up with hatha-oyga in the morning, and KY in the evening.

Irina, hello! I'm glad! Wahe Guru! Yes, of course you can.

Elena Stefanovich, on purpose or not, the goal of kundalini yoga is to awaken this energy

No, the goal of the KY tradition of Yogi Bhajan is to gradually clear the channels, clear the body and clear the subconscious. And then, perhaps by the grace of God solely, the Kundalini will rise.

Elena, good afternoon. Please tell me more, in the morning I do a warm-up with hatha yoga, I do Kirtan kriya in the evening. This is enough, or you can do Kirtan kriya immediately after the warm-up, and in the evening another meditation. And tell me, we somehow had a conversation about individual program exercises. Could you recommend me something? Maybe it's best to send you a personal email?

Irina, hello! It is quite possible to perform Kundalini yoga meditation after a warm-up in the tradition of Hatha yoga, this is not a problem at all.
I can conduct an individual consultation - pick up practices according to your request. This service is paid. Please write me an email: dasskaurdogsite

Good afternoon Elena, tell me, what practices can be done by pregnant women?

Anna, hello! There is a separate direction in KY - yoga for pregnant women. Unfortunately, I am not an expert in this area. I recommend that you contact a teacher who teaches yoga for pregnant women. There are a lot of nuances there. Conventional practices are not suitable for pregnant women.

Hello. Tell me, please, is it possible to transfer the practice to the evening once, if you do it in the morning?

Daria, hello! Of course you can. The most important thing is to do it once a day.

Hello! Tell me please, if after training I feel irritation, then what to do about it?

The reason is that high exercise stress, I endure the exercise to the end, and then my muscles and overwork hurt

Hello! Practicing yoga, you need to understand that this is not a sport and not a competition. If you feel that after practice you have less strength than before, then you are doing something wrong. In this case, I think that you do not allow yourself to rest between exercises and perform each of them for the maximum time.
Reduce exercise time and add some relaxation in Savasana after the most difficult ones.

Good day, Elena. In your answers to questions, you wrote several times that KY is not curative. But at the same time, practicing this type of yoga cleanses the body and promotes the healthy functioning of various organs. This contradiction is a little unclear to me.
And if, for example, I have some problems in my body that I don’t know about, will KY be harmful to me? And how can I understand whether it benefits me or not, because when the body is cleansed with this, some unpleasant temporary side processes can also be accompanied?

Daria, hello! Indeed, KY is not a therapeutic form of yoga. For healing from various diseases, it is much more effective in terms of physical health- yoga therapy. In KY, cleansing occurs mainly on the mental and emotional levels, although of course there are special kriyas - for detoxification, for example, or for cleansing the liver. But such kriyas should be done under the supervision of a physician if you are aware of the problems in the organs you are working with.
As for the manifestation of what you do not know about, it is very individual. There may be exacerbations. Therefore, you do not need to endure if some pain appears during the training and the condition after the practice is consistently worse than before. You need to see a doctor, do research and find out what's going on. In my memory, the refusal to practice KY for these reasons occurred only a few times. Unpleasant sensations usually pass quickly.
But it's all about the physical manifestations. On an emotional level, it can become much harder than it was before KY classes))) And many people get scared and stop practicing, because. they just don't know what to do with it. Therefore, it is better to study with an instructor who will prompt and support when our subconscious begins to crawl out.

Thank you very much for the answer!

I would like to answer Arina))) (post 43 and 47)
Dear Arina! You are right: a person with a labile psyche needs to approach Kundalini Yoga with caution. And why should such a person not be approached with caution? Spiritual development is a difficult Path, it is a Work that not everyone can handle and Kundalini Yoga, just like other paths of spiritual growth, requires a mentor and a conscious, attentive approach. (By the way, about attentiveness: if you carefully study the materials of this wonderful site, you will see warnings about caution in many places))).
You are not outraged in the same way by the abundance of the flock in Orthodox churches, are you?
I think you at least a little, but know the history, for example, of the Crusades or campaigns “for the faith” of other confessions… What kind of mentality did people kill by the thousands “in the name of Christ” or another Saint? The question is not what is the name of the path of Spiritual Development, but what is the purpose of those who sometimes lead along it, in whose hands this Great Knowledge turned out to be...
Have you heard at least once about the “crusades” of yogis?)))
You are a great fellow for drawing attention to this issue: many people should sometimes be specially reminded that yoga is not a fashion, but an exact science that requires scrupulousness and detailed study.
Good luck to you, Arina, and many thanks for your vigilance!
    With love, Olga.

Good afternoon I can't find the timetable on the website. regular classes on the Arbat. Please tell me

Elena, good afternoon! Can you please tell me if there is practice on Uranus on the site? I couldn't find. If yes, please provide a link. Thank you

Dilara, hello! No, I have never seen practice on Uranus in KY.

Good afternoon Thanks for such a wonderful site. I am very interested in KY, but unfortunately I could not find a teacher in Astrakhan. I do it myself on video with Maya Fiennes. I have this question: When I was working on the second chakra, I began to have terrible dreams (I am always afraid of them), anxiety appeared. In general, I switched to the third chakra. Well, and so on. But I really understand that I have blocks with the second chakra. How to be? And another question: Do you have online classes?

Irina, I wrote you a letter. I don’t have online classes, but I select and help to build my personal practice correctly. Thanks for the question!

Hello! Is it possible to combine kund.yoga with hatha yoga or is it better to choose one thing? And is it worth it for people with an unbalanced nervous system (there are breakdowns, irritation)?

Natalia, hello! You can successfully combine hatha yoga and kundalini yoga. For example, power complex from hatha, shavasana, and then KY meditation. If you do not take psychotropic drugs, then you can and should do it, because. KY strengthens the nervous system and helps to get rid of emotional reactions, solving many psychological problems.

Hello! Please tell me a suitable practice. I need to get rid of self-doubt, in my abilities, an inferiority complex and fear of seeming stupid or funny. Can't choose the right practice

Hello! Consultation on the selection of personal practice is paid, the cost is 3000 rubles. Please send a request to dasskaurdoggy site

Thank you for the magazine “Kundalini Yoga. Sadhana” by chance acquaintance with the material of which I began to take yoga seriously more than 10 years ago, and according to which I studied on my own for a short time, the magazine was lost and I could not find it. healthy lifestyle life and practicing moderate physical exercises bypass yoga, undeservedly considering yoga classes for girls, yes, I myself once thought so.

Hello! As far as I know, KY Sadhana was generally the first book, the first publication about KY in Russian. I totally agree with you that the book is extremely valuable!

India, due to its special spiritual worldview, is known as a place of origin and development of amazing practices aimed at achieving a harmonious coexistence of the physical and mental. In particular, we are talking about kundalini yoga.

Kundalini yoga is one of the branches of yoga, which has special breathing techniques, asanas, meditation practices and mantras.. The most important thing in kundalini yoga is to achieve uniform circulation of Kundalini energy from the point of its concentration (the base of the spine) to the top of the head through all the main chakras using these techniques. This allows the yogi to achieve various goals of the spiritual and physical plane, which we will learn about later.

More kundalini yoga is called laya yoga and the yoga of awareness. The founder of this teaching was Yogi Bhajan (Siri Singh Sahib). Thanks to him, first the United States and then the whole world learned about kundalini yoga.

Concept of Kundalini

In order to understand the purpose of Kundalini Yoga, one should understand what exactly is Kundalini?

Kundalini is understood as the energy that is the basis of birth and spiritual development.. From Sanskrit, the word "kundalini" itself can be translated approximately as follows: "like a sleeping snake, coiled into a ball, a force safely hidden."

Really, in Ayurveda and yoga, Kundalini is compared with a snake that slumbers in every person from the moment of birth in the region of the muladhara chakra, located at the base of the spine. By using special practices energy can be awakened, made to move upward through all the chakras straight to the sahasrara chakra (upper center - crown). This contributes to the spiritual development of the individual, creative realization, getting rid of diseases, the cause of which lies in the violation of the circulation of energy through the chakras.

The goals of kundalini yoga and its features

The Indian spiritual practice of kundalini yoga helps to achieve various goals. Since this direction of yoga is still called "the yoga of awareness", its main meaning lies in the concentrated self-knowledge, the elevation of the spirit, the disclosure of the highest meaning.

The main goals of kundalini yoga are as follows:

  • getting rid of internal duality that prevents you from rising above the material;
  • complete awakening of consciousness, its purification, expansion;
  • encouragement of inner peace, achievement of high results in business.

Unlike some areas of yoga, where withdrawal from society and the adoption of celibacy are preached, kundalini yoga is intended for family and working people, as Yogi Bhajana himself noted.

In the arsenal of this teaching special techniques and exercises. For example:

  1. "Halasana" will strengthen the spinal muscles, maintain the flexibility of the spine.
  2. "Pashchimottanasana" - increase gastric fire, reduce body fat in the abdomen.
  3. "Surya Namaskar" - open the heart chakra and let divine love into it.

Kundalini yoga can be quite a dangerous spiritual practice. All because upon awakening of the powerful energy of Kundalini, both the body and the energy essence of a person undergo major changes . Following the change in the physical body, the quality of perception, consciousness, and priorities also changes.

Along with the awakening of the Kundalini, a person's self-confidence grows, fear and anxiety go away. Only those who sincerely desire to comprehend divine love and give their love to all living things will be able to achieve the highest results in the path of kundalini yoga..

To start exercising, no special physical skills are required, however, it is better to perform exercises under the guidance of an experienced yogi. Feedback from those who have embarked on the path of kundalini yoga suggests that changes are happening very quickly. Therefore, without the help of a coach at the initial stages, one cannot do.

The Importance of Kriyas in Kundalini Yoga

Before you begin to master the practice of kundalini yoga, you must pass preparatory stage, consisting in bodily and moral cleansing. The whole point is that the awakened Kundalini energy in a person with negative thoughts and qualities (even if his body is relatively healthy) will begin to “work” against him . Without clearing the mind of the traces of previous karma, and without changing the perception of oneself and the world around, but having begun to actively engage in the practice of yoga, various disorders, especially of a mental nature, will begin to develop quite quickly..

Exactly for the purpose of bodily and psychological cleansing in kundalini yoga, kriyas are used- various techniques. These include water, air and energy cleansing. Exercises such as basti, dhuti and others will help develop endurance, develop flexibility, strengthen the body, and give the body strength. Special diets or even hunger can also be used to rid the body of toxins and waste..

To purify the mental body, to establish harmony between self-perception and perception of the surrounding world, to learn how to communicate with oneself and others on a spiritual level, one resorts to meditation, mantra chanting, concentration, and visualization techniques.

The duration of the purification stage and its content depends on the individual characteristics of the individual.

Kundalini yoga is mentioned in ancient Sanskrit texts. However, unlike other classical types of yoga, such as Hatha, Raja (Ashtanga), Karma, Jnana and Bhakti, which have developed and been widely practiced from ancient times to the present day, Kundalini yoga has not become as popular. There are plenty of explanations for this. The intricacy and allegoricalness of the ancient texts, which contain in abundance the details of fantastic and obscene rituals dedicated to various deities, is rejected by many seekers of truth. Despite quite detailed instructions on the use of asanas, breathing exercises, mantras and methods of concentration, all this is stated in such a complex mythologized and allegorical language that it brings even more confusion to the ranks of those who want to join the ancient knowledge of Kundalini.

In the modern interpretation, Kundalini yoga appeared in the 70s of the twentieth century. The founder of the new "old" style was Yogi Bhajan, who popularized this trend in the United States. Being engaged in various yogic practices from the age of six, by the time of his emigration to North America he accumulated a lot of experience and began missionary work among free-spirited hippie students.

Kundalini Yoga of the Bhajan school, although based on the central provisions classical yoga, outlined several millennia ago by the sage Patanjali, however, rejects asceticism and renunciation. This system does not imply a rejection of society, on the contrary, Yogi Bhajan urged his followers to create families, do business and not give up worldly goods.

Thus, he offered Western society a kind of synthesis of the material and spiritual, which turned out to be very popular at that time.

Fundamental concepts of yoga

The term "Kundalini" is found in almost all ancient yogic texts and is a fundamental concept in the philosophy of yoga. This is a creative, vital energy, originally incorporated in every rational being, but dormant at this evolutionary stage. The goal of any direction of yoga is to achieve the awakening of Kundalini and lead it through the central channel Sushumna to the highest chakra Sahasrara. There, merging with the divine that is inherent in man, this energy will free the mind from the shackles of subjective perception and help the soul break the circle of endless rebirths.

According to yogic views, in addition to the physical body, a person also has a subtle, non-material body in which various energy processes take place. All this subtle body entangled in a network of energy channels called nadis, the number of which, according to various sources, ranges from 72,000 to 100,000. up to 230 thousand. There are three main channels:

  • Sushumna is the central channel located along the spine. It originates in the Muladhara Chakra at the base of the coccyx and ends in the Sahasrara Chakra, in the region of the crown.
  • Ida - the left channel, starts to the left of the coccyx and goes to the right nostril. Through this channel moves female, passive energy, conducive to contemplation.
  • Pingala is the right channel, starts from the right and goes to the left nostril. The energy moving through it is active, masculine.

Ida and Pingala spiral around the central channel Sushumna in a spiral to the left and right, and in those places where they intersect, there are energy centers called chakras. There are seven main chakras:

  • Muladhara - the root chakra, located in the perineum and is responsible for survival;
  • Svadhisthana - located at the base of the genital organs, is responsible for sexual desire and the instinct of procreation;
  • Manipura - located in the area solar plexus, is responsible for implementation in society;
  • Anahata - the middle of the chest at the level of the heart, is responsible for feelings and emotions;
  • Vishuddha - the region of the neck, is responsible for creativity, speech;
  • Ajna - the forehead area between the eyebrows, the last point of intersection of Ida and Pingala, is responsible for intuition and superpowers;
  • Sahasrara - the area of the crown, connection with the Highest reality.

Kundalini sleeps at the base of the spine, in the Muladhara region. Yoga represents her in the form of a sleeping snake, curled up in 3.5 turns. In an ordinary person, energy alternately flows through the right and left channels, and Sushumna remains almost empty.

It should be understood that all these descriptions are rather conditional. The described arrangement of channels and chakras is rather arbitrary, since they do not exist in the physical body. Nevertheless, by applying certain techniques on the physical plane, it is possible to influence the non-material plane, regulating the flow of energy in the subtle body.

Practicing Kundalini Yoga

The purpose of the practice is to awaken the dormant creative energy, to raise it through the Sushumna, successively activating each chakra. After the Kundalini energy, having filled the central channel, activates the six chakras, reaches the Sahasrara and unites with the Divine power, the yogi loses his self and merges with the Absolute, reaching the state of Samadhi.

Kundalini yoga proposes to achieve this goal with the help of kriyas - sequences of certain exercises, each of which includes three equally important aspects - asana, pranayama, dhyana (body position, breathing, concentration). At the end of each session, there is a meditation that guides and harmonizes the flow of energy raised by the exercises.

There are several stages of development that each student successively goes through.

  • Saram pad is the stage of the beginner. A person comes to yoga guided by one of three motivations: necessity, opportunity, vocation. Someone is looking for solutions to accumulated problems, someone imitates others, and someone is guided by intuitive aspirations and inclinations.
  • Karam pad is the stage of the disciple. The adept learns to achieve his goals, develops various systems of perception and enriches sensory experience. Regular practice at this stage is the key to success. Exercise should be done daily, regardless of life circumstances.
  • Shakti pada is the stage of practice. This is a critical stage, a kind of test of strength. The adept either transforms or leaves this path. The student learns to make independent decisions and the success of the practice depends on his choice. Attachments and personal ego become the main obstacle to further development at this stage.
  • Sahaj pad is the expert level. Having passed the temptations of the previous stage, the student reaches a state of simplicity and intuitive understanding of everything that happens. The accumulated significant experience helps to purposefully move towards each subsequent goal and achieve it. Disparate fragments of being are connected like a puzzle and the practitioner's mind gets a complete picture.
  • Sat pad is the step of the master. Few reach this stage. The Master merges with every action, experiencing the presence of the true "I" in everything.

To advance along the path of Kundalini Yoga, it is necessary to have a teacher and group classes. Since this direction does not require its followers to renounce society, the main work is accordingly carried out in a group of like-minded people. The presence of a guru is necessary due to the fact that some exercises can be simply dangerous if they are used uncontrollably. The teacher gives practices in accordance with the constitution and temperament of each student, carefully observing the development process and correcting possible complications.

Before trying to awaken this sleeping energy, the student must clear his mind, getting rid of negative thoughts, complexes and fears. Otherwise, the awakened force can deprive the unprepared adept of the mind and destroy his nervous system. Spontaneous awakening of the Kundalini can lead to irreversible consequences if the practitioner cannot cope with the flow of energy and direct it in the right direction, namely to Sushumna.

The Danger of Kundalini Awakening: The Story of Gopi Krishna

Gopi Krishna Pandit not only experienced real experience awakening of the Kundalini, but also wrote a book about it, where he spoke in detail about how his life changed after such an event.

Pandit was born in 1903 and until 1937 he lived the ordinary life of a family man and a working man. Distinguished in his youth by an unrestrained and quick-tempered character, he began to practice meditation from the age of seventeen and even at a young age felt the desire to abandon worldly life. However, filial duty prevented him from choosing the path of an ascetic and a hermit - Pandit's father also had a penchant for mystical experiences and retired from the world in his prime, leaving his 28-year-old wife with three small children in her arms and almost without a livelihood. Gopi Krishna could not do the same as his father, so he chose a worldly life, refusing, however, careerism and sensual passions. Married at 23, he led a quiet family life, pursuing a career only to the extent sufficient to maintain a more or less decent level of well-being for his family.

However, in 1937, an event happened that radically turned his life around. One day, during his daily morning meditation, Pandit felt a strange sensation at the base of his spinal column. Not allowing his attention to be distracted by this unusual state, he continued to concentrate on the Sahasrara. Suddenly there was a loud roar, like the sound of a waterfall, and liquid light poured through the spinal column and straight into the brain. In his book Gopi Krishna writes that it is impossible to describe in words the feelings that he had experienced that morning. Feeling overwhelmed and confused, he ended his meditation and tried to focus on his daily activities, but to no avail. The coming night and the following days only aggravated his condition. To confusion and strange sensations in the body, a severe depression was added, which had no basis. Trying to continue his daily meditations only made matters worse, Pandit found himself completely unable to concentrate. The ecstatic sensations experienced at the beginning did not return, but nightmares began to roll. Among other things, there was a fear of losing his mind and a horror of the supernatural that broke into his measured life.

In the following weeks, the situation only worsened, Gopi Krishna lost sleep and appetite, the feeling of a flowing stream of energy originating at the base of the spine and piercing the body to the very top of his head did not leave him day or night. The nervous system was extremely tense, feelings and sensations changed, fantastic visions began to visit him. Extremely disgusted with food, Pandit reduced his daily diet to a couple of cups of milk and a few oranges and began to lose weight rapidly. He couldn't help but feel the fire burning from within. In order to somehow calm this flame, one had to constantly move, the slightest inactivity immediately caused acute attacks of anxiety.

It should be remembered that this story happened in the late thirties of the last century. Gopi Krishna did not have access to the many sources of information available to modern man. Did not have digital libraries and social networks, with the help of which it was possible to find those who could help with advice or at least explain what was happening. Some of the books at his disposal referred to ancient texts, retelling in their own words the experience of long-gone mystics, but did not give a clear answer what happened to Pandit, and most importantly, how to live with it now. In a couple of books, he came across a mention of the dangers associated with the awakening of the Kundalini, but there was no hint of how to overcome them.

Hiding his condition from his relatives, Gopi Krishna shared his experiences only with his brother-in-law, who also had some meditative experience, studying under the guidance of his guru. Shurin recalled that once his teacher spoke about the danger of Kundalini awakening if its flow did not go through the central channel Sushumna, but through some other nadi. Of particular danger is the flow of the awakened energy flow along Ida, in which case the person literally burns out from the inside. After these words, Gopi Krishna at least understood what exactly was happening to him. Now it was necessary to find ways to solve the problem.

Studying ancient Sanskrit texts translated into English language, Pandit came across a mention that a practicing student should not be hungry, food should be taken every three hours. That is what saved his life. Having established a regular diet, and adhering to strict diet, he managed at least to some extent to curb the force that was destroying his nervous system. After that, Gopi Krishna began to look for a person who could help. He wrote letters to holy teachers, communicated with various mystics, but it turned out that in all of India there is no person who can help him. The wise teachers, who reasoned with an air of importance, turned out to be the same seekers of truth as everyone else and had no experience of experiences even remotely resembling what Pandita had to experience.

Gopi Krishna was embarrassed by the absence of any supernatural abilities. All the sources that he happened to find unanimously stated that the awakening of the Kundalini is necessarily associated with the acquisition of superhuman abilities. However, nothing of the sort was observed.

Years gradually passed in this state. Pandit returned to his former way of life, however, constantly feeling the flow of energy. Gradually, his perception of the surrounding reality changed: a constant, steady glow appeared around objects, the perception of sounds changed.

And only after almost 12 years did those very superpowers begin to appear, the absence of which confused Gopi Krishna. He began to write poetry in languages he never knew, had realistic visions that he never talked about so as not to be considered crazy.

Having experienced the rise of Kundalini energy at the age of 34, he lived in this state for the rest of his days. Despite a difficult period that almost cost him his life, Gopi Krishna considered himself extremely fortunate to have had such an extraordinary experience. In his opinion, sooner or later in the process of evolution, the rise of Kundalini and the restructuring of consciousness under its influence awaits all of humanity.
