"Tractor" in the KHL: final and nostalgia from Belousov
The Urals left the elite in the Soviet years, but the departure from the Superleague in 1999 hit the city especially hard, where they love hockey and their team. Before returning, the "Tractor" was constantly in major league long seven seasons. He interrupted troubled times - a specialist who returned to his native city after 15 years. Together with Valery Belousov they created what we today call Chelyabinsk hockey. They still have a lot of pupils, followers and just fans.
It is difficult to convey on paper what Belousov means for Chelyabinsk. The 22-year-old striker played his first match for Traktor on October 10, 1971. It is symbolic that the rival of the Urals in that meeting was Dynamo Moscow - a team that, years later, will become the most principled rival for Belousov-coach. In September 1976, he, representing Traktor, played for the USSR national team in the first Canada Cup. The club of the best snipers in the history of Traktor is named after Belousov today.
However, for Chelyabinsk, Belousov is first of all a coach, and only then a player. Fans of Magnitogorsk and Avangard consider him his own, to whom he gave gold, but silver with Traktor, mined in 2013, is no less valuable. The very next year, Chelyabinsk celebrated its victory in the regular season, and in 2013, the same final with Dynamo Moscow thundered. On the way, the Urals stepped over Barys, Avangard and Ak Bars. It was not destined to beat the team of Oleg Znarok, by the way, also from Chelyabinsk, but the result is far from all that we remember Belousov's second coming to Chelyabinsk. Under him, Traktor was in many ways an archaic team that did not seek to run after imposed trends. - Of course, we see each other every day with his coach Stas Shadrin and we constantly remember Slava. No one knows who she is - a cohabitant or a wife, they talk about everything that such and such. We know Slavka and we are sure that he could not raise his hand. Also, the political situation is like that ... Especially since the state with its own laws. It may end very well, or it may end very badly. I'm worried, like the rest of hockey Russia.
- Recently, Shadrin spoke sharply about Evgeny Kuznetsov in an interview. How do you feel about Zhenya?
- I would not speak so categorically. Zhenya - our pupil, went to Omsk - then returned. Every child at some time begins a "starfall", but this does not mean that he is bad. At Seryoga Gonchar, too, somewhere a little "stars" flashed, but he quickly returned to his rails. Zhenya had a period where he "starred", however, this was also not for long. Now I'm watching him and I see that he's getting better. I think that Znarok will invite him to the World Championship.
- They say that Kuznetsov did not get out of the ice at school?
- Yes, I rode with everyone. Everyone asked: "Can I ride?". His house was very close to the school.
Another interesting thing: Nikolai Lemtyugov, Evgeny Katichev, Anton Belov were in Traktor-86. Are they considered your pupils or did they leave the team before you took over?
- According to Katichev, the situation was a bit bad when we were at the Tretiak Cup in Chicago. Children born in 1986 were involved in bad story, and I had to fly to Gonchar in Washington. Tickets were already bought, but I had to return them and pay for their misconduct. Katichev had a grandfather general, and when he found out about this incident, although Zhenya himself had nothing to do with it, he said: "I will not tolerate this shame, we are going to another school." So Katichev ended up at Mechel. Of course, I was very sorry that he left. But we still see each other, we communicate. This is a high-flying guy, he never ran on teams, he always dreamed of playing in Chelyabinsk and still returned to Tractor. Lemtyugov left for CSKA, and is still hanging out somewhere. Anton Belov was still studying with Vladimir Pyzhyanov before me, something happened there - I don’t know for sure. Father also packed his things and took Anton to Mechel. But I invited him to the finals of the Russian championship in Tolyatti, and Traktor then took second place. We meet with him sometimes, call up - we have the best relations.

- Yes, it was the case - he was upset, but not for long. At Traktor School there are only coaches who work for the Soul. Those who needed money have already left. And I think the school has absolutely nothing to lose. They work here for the sake of the Traktor spirit, and everyone in Russia knows about it and is envious in a good way. Everyone is surprised: "How so? In Magnitogorsk, in Yekaterinburg, in Omsk, such salaries, and you are still in leading roles." It's not the money that matters, but what's inside of you.
The Minister of Sports of the Chelyabinsk Region recently announced that Traktor's budget would be cut and the salaries of the school's coaches would be raised. Will he keep his promise?

- This is at an age when they were 14-15 years old. Right now, Nikolai Bets and I are working with kids who are 5-6 years old. And they do such things… Everything turned upside down, went into a black hole… Children are so cruel! And dads watch and encourage such things. That's the scariest thing right now! Children have no compassion - he can hit a child like him with a club with all his might, like an ax. And parents are good at it. Now the main problem is the parents. Hanging out at school all day, I don't know if they work or not. They walk, they wash the bones of the coach - this one is bad, he needs to be kicked out. We are not raising children, but real monsters, in whose eyes they have only money, grandmas, dollars! I say at the coaching council: yes, the place of the team in standings, points scored - it's all important, but what do we do from them? We encourage what needs to be cut off. Points, a place is everything, but what does he grow, what is in his head? Recently I watched a program: a girl beat her friend with mortal combat because of jealousy for the boy. These shots make my hair move! We now have rampant cruelty. Parents shout: "Give, give him!". You say to stand up for yourself... You have to stand up for something - for an idea, for honor, for a girl, but when personal ambitions turn into such cruelty... I don't understand what will happen next.
- So what, in your opinion, is the main problem of our hockey?
- I repeat, the main problem is the parents. Go to the school lobby - more moms and dads than kids. They are here all day. I communicate well with the judo coach, they have a law - there should not be parents in the gym, only children. With us, they can stand at the side and say a nasty word to the coach. Parents themselves treat their children like barbarians. I have been to Israel many times and I saw what kind of attitude there is towards a child - fantastic! Our father yells at the boy, you come up to him and say: "This is your child!" - "Get out of here, I do what I want!".
- The problem is that hockey is becoming an elite sport?
- Of course, the rich with connections in the administration can remove one coach and appoint another. We recently had an inspection. The coach did not put some guy in the squad or gave him little playing time, to which the parent said: "Wait, we will check the school now." Then the commission arrived and for a week "wooled" us. Our parents are now more versed in hockey than in their work. Parents are trouble, the scourge of our hockey! We have so many schools, so many children study, and the output we get is zero. Why? They see their child not as a healthy person who benefits society, but as a golden calf who will receive good money and feed his parents. Did not like it here - they gather and leave for another city. We have forgotten what patriotism is, what Traktor is. I remember that at one time Kolya Betz was invited by both Dynamo Moscow and Khimik, wherever they called! But he said, "Here is my dock, and here are my friends."
- Do you still have optimism about Traktor?
- I think yes. Unless the leadership again staggers towards foreigners. And I mean Karri Kiwi, and some of the players. And what are the salaries in the KHL... I once talked with Igor Larionov here, he was offered to work in SKA. He then stated: KHL players this money is not worth it! ". Here, one player in Traktor had a salary of 12 million rubles a month. But he didn’t assign it to himself? And the fans see it all. Big money is ruining our sport - like football, like hockey "After 12 million, a revolution in the brain begins. What can I say, if we already have small children began to count money. I understand that it is not an easy job for professionals, but there are some limits ... Maybe, in connection with this crisis, something will change.
- You could not become a coach? After the end of the player's career, they went to work in a taxi.
- My brother already worked here, and Viktor Stolyarov was the director of the school - a legendary person about whom one can talk endlessly. Well, they confused me: "Come on, let's try. Well, what are you?". And I had a good car - a new "Volga". After all, my wife then worked at a gas station, there were no problems. I went to Sverdlovsk - there and back, I really liked it. It would seem that he found himself. But now I meet with Vitaly Georgievich Erfilov, Viktor Ivanovich Stolyarov, and they begged me to try. In the end, I tried - so far here.
