How much is left until the end of the Olympiad. Hoping for gold

Preparations for the main starts of the four-year period these days should reach the finish line. Athletes - to prepare for the final training camp, fans - to estimate the chances and mark the most "promising" starts on the calendar. But the uniqueness and tragedy of the current situation is that today we do not know the most important thing about the upcoming Games - neither the approximate composition of our Olympic delegation, nor its potential. Not only the fans do not know this, but also the coaches and the athletes themselves. You can lament about this as much as you like or say that everything could be much worse, but the unknown is what we will have to live with for the next few weeks.

Ahead is the work of the commission for the admission of "Olympic Athletes from Russia", arbitration courts and other unsportsmanlike procedures that can radically change the face of our team. There's nothing to even argue about. The ski team - without and, the speed skating team - without and, the bobsleigh team - without, the skeletal team - without and ... The compositions with or without these stars have fundamentally different capabilities. But to all the doping and political troubles, more traditional stories of injuries were added. Our 100% contenders for the PyeongChang gold figure skater and skier are experiencing health problems, and no one knows what shape they will be in 30 days.

In such a situation, the range of medal scenarios is wide to the point of impossibility - from a new anti-record to a heroic hit in the top five team standings. The current anti-record, let me remind you, was set in 2010 in Vancouver, where the Russian team, on a wave of failures and bad luck, limited itself to three gold awards and did not get into the Top 10. Theoretically, such a scenario is not ruled out even now. In the most pessimistic scenario, our team may be completely left without gold. In any case, the IOC has done everything to ensure that our athletes do not count on proper systematic training, but on anger and a desire for a worthy response to all our ill-wishers.

What is the optimistic scenario? We will not win the overall standings of the 2018 Games - even if CAS suddenly justifies all four dozen Sochi residents disqualified by the Oswald commission. But leaving a noticeable mark in the history of Pyeongchang is quite realistic - and not only for the recognized favorites. In many sports we have a good margin of safety, and in conditions when the leaders stay at home, yesterday's reservists can easily “shoot out”.

The result of 7-8 gold medals with a certain amount of luck seems quite real. This will bring the "neutral Russians" a place in the top five (in the worst case scenario - in the top seven), which can also be considered a very successful outcome. Of course, in the current situation, it is logical to spit on the team standings altogether, relax and enjoy any very local success. But on the other hand, it's stupid to pretend that the medal race is not interesting to us at all. If we are left without gold in skis, figure skating, skating, sleighing and short track, and without medals - in snowboarding, biathlon, curling and hockey - this will be a cause for great disappointment. Although hockey success (and the chances of this are very high) in itself is able to compensate for all other failures.

In any case, in the current uncertainty, in addition to negative emotions, there are also pluses. We are waiting for a very unpredictable and controversial Olympics. Someone may think that we lost the Games even before they started, but someone is sure that the mere appearance of the Russians at the start in Pyeongchang is already a victory. So the estimates vary greatly even before the start of the Olympics, and its results, for sure, will again cause heated discussions.

NUMBERS
350
athletes in the ROC preliminary application
43 Russians banned for life by the IOC filed an appeal with the IOC
7 of our athletes will challenge the ban on admission to the Olympic Games of Russians with a doping history
210 Russians must fulfill the selection criteria for PyeongChang and be included in the applications

On August 6, the long-awaited Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Remember how much there was news that we might not be allowed to them because of a fight with the British and a scandal with doping. And despite the fact that at the beginning we had doubts about participation, now we have 12 gold medals and we can easily overtake Great Britain, which we still have 3 gold medals to go. The Americans, who now have the most a large number of gold, and we are unlikely to have time to overtake them in the next 5 days. But we wish good luck to our athletes who are fighting for the honor of our great country!

When will the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro end?

As I said, there are 5 days left until the end of the Olympic Games, and now it's the 17th. Therefore, they will end on August 21, 2016. All-Russian Olympiad schoolchildren - the most famous olympiad in the country. Its implementation is even spelled out in the Law on Education. Many schoolchildren take part in it, and often they do not even realize that they are participating in the All-Russian Olympiad, they do not understand what rules it takes. We have described key points, which will allow, if not to understand thoroughly, then at least to get a general idea of what the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is and what can be expected from it.

1. In what subjects is the Olympiad held?

It is held in 24 subjects. At the same time, Olympiads are held, among other things, in some disciplines that are not included in the program: for example, in astronomy, economics, various foreign languages. So there is always the opportunity to find the Olympics to your liking.

2. How the Olympiad works

Olympics All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren The final stage has ended. The next Olympiad starts in September

Intellectual championship of Russia for everyone. Conducted in 24 subjects in four stages for grades 4-11

Mathematics Computer science and 22 other subjects

There are four stages in the Olympiad and all of them are held internally. The first stage is usually carried out at the school by their own teachers. The second stage is municipal, in which schoolchildren from all over the region compete with each other. The best schoolchildren of the region are already gathering for the third. And the fourth, final stage is the final of the Olympiad, 200-300 strongest Olympiads from all over the country come to each subject.

Most often, the rounds of Olympiads are written, but the “older” the stage, the more new formats appear in different disciplines. For example, in chemistry, physics and biology - experimental tours, in languages - oral, in geography - field tour and so on.

3. How do you get from one stage to another?

Everyone can participate in the first stage. Those who performed well at the school stage and those who won the municipal stage last year are invited to the municipal stage. Similarly at the regional and final stages.

At the same time, “performed well” is not necessarily the same as “became a winner or prize-winner.” The threshold to be overcome at each stage is set by its organizer: at the second stage it is the municipality, at the third stage it is the region, and at the final stage it is the Ministry of Education and Science.

4. When is the Olympiad held?

The school stage starts at the beginning school year(in September-October). The specific dates of the Olympiads are set by the school itself, so don't miss the start! After all, if you did not win the older stages last year, then without a school stage you will not be allowed to enter them! Then the plan is as follows: in November-December, the municipal stage takes place, in January-February - the regional one, and in March-April - the final one.

5. At what age can you participate?

You can start participating as early as 4th or 5th grade. At the same time, age restrictions differ for different stages. At the municipal stage, tasks are intended for grades 7 and older, and starting from the regional stage, for grades 9–11.

6. How do eighth graders get to the finals? Is it possible to participate in the senior class?

Can. You just need to make up your mind right now. For example, if a student has already started participating in the 8th grade, then he will not be allowed to the regional stage. And if from the very beginning he completed the tasks of the 9th grade, then he can reach the final. By the way, in the history of the Olympiad there was a case when a fourth-grader participated in the final stage! And he completed the tasks of the 9th grade, starting from the school stage.

7. Who comes up with tasks?

The one who determines the selection criteria for next stage. For the school stage, the task is the district, for the municipal - the region, and for the regional and final - the Ministry of Education and Science. The tasks of the school stage should be the same for the entire district, the tasks of the municipal stage should be the same for the entire region, and the tasks of the regional stage should be the same for the whole country.

8. How to start preparing for participation?

First of all, it is useful to look at the tasks of the school stage of previous years: they can be found on the page of our special project. There are also links to online resources and books that may be useful in preparation.

9. Winning the final guarantees admission?

In general, yes. Universities should accept the winner without exams, it is enough just to get a certificate. But this is true only for "the direction that corresponds to the profile of the Olympiad." And which direction is the profile, each specific university decides independently. Suppose everything is simple with mathematics - the Olympiad provides admission to mathematical departments, but how are life safety, MHC or physical education taken into account? The answer can only be obtained from the admissions office of the university of interest.

At the same time, the victory in the final stage is counted, the previous ones can add up to 10 points to the portfolio.

10. If only winners and prize-winners of the final stage are accepted without exams, is it worth participating at all?

At least worth a try. well composed school stage great for getting to know the world of the olympiads. And if the teacher also checked it qualitatively and explained the mistakes, then this will bring real benefit and, perhaps, open the subject from a completely new side.

Olympic Games V South Korea go to the finish line.

The Russian team is still without a gold medal, still replenishes the piggy bank thanks to the young ski team, and somewhere high, high in the mountains, Germany and Norway decide which of them will win the overall standings. Yes, what we have been waiting for so long has finally happened - competitions in figure skating for women have started. After short program Russian figure skaters set two world records in a row. space achievement Evgenia Medvedeva(81.61 points) after ten minutes it was beaten Alina Zagitova(82.92). Fantastic numbers, unattainable. But that's exactly what we were counting on. Gold is already here.

The Russians got so close to the gold medal only in ski competitions in men - twice. In the relay race and in the team sprint until the decisive moment, Denis Spitsov And Alexandra Bolshunova there were chances for first place, but a man named Johannes Hesflot Klebo multiplied them by zero, demonstrating a completely different level. You can argue for a long time what the result would be if you were at this Olympics Sergey Ustyugov, the absence of which no one has ever explained. But in this variation of the compositions in Pyeongchang, the Norwegians simply have no competitors.

But competition in biathlon is high. At this celebration of life, the “gold” was already won by the neighbors from Belarus, the Swedes collected a whole armful, the Italians were among the prizes. We can only envy and wonder. And if what biathlon will take place it was clear beforehand that we could not even count on such success in skiing.

But something happened that we feared.

The whole story with a performance under neutral flag, which began from afar - with the World Championships in athletics- was supposed to end in Pyeongchang. In the absence of doping violations, state attributes would have been returned to Russia at the closing ceremony. Disturbing news came from the sport where it was least expected. It would be nice if they were cyclic views Well, even hockey. But curling... And what did they find? Meldonium. It would seem that everything has long been passed and studied, and the drug is forgotten for sports. Happening Alexander Krushelnitsky showed the opposite. The fact that mildronate does not contribute to the improvement of sports performance has been repeatedly said and there is no great need for its use. Especially in curling. However, all further conversations are already crossing the legal plane, and it seems to be for a long time. On this moment athletes by decision of the Sports arbitration court(CAS) stripped of medals.

It so happened that, in addition to skis, the Russians have no " medal types”, where rewards would be mined serially. As it was in Sochi with a short track, biathlon and the same skis. Seriality was replaced by surprise. We have already talked about success Natalia Voronina And Nikita Tregubov. Even more sudden were the medals in freestyle skiing for men. In acrobatics "bronze" pleased Ilya Burov, and in ski-cross, despite the fall, Sergei Ridzik. Even if you prepared for these Games, studied and looked through the composition, then these names were hardly paid attention to in the first place.

The transition to hockey will be as clumsy as the Olympic hockey tournament itself.

The results of the Russian team prove that they are in a league of their own, and if the Russians do not engage in underestimation (which happened in the game with Slovakia), then gold medals will be harder not to win than vice versa. Of surprises - the departure of Sweden ( best team group stage) or Germany's advance to the semi-finals. You can call it whatever you like.

Women's hockey indulges even less diversity. There was no need to worry about the traditional US-Canada final even before the start of the Olympics (by the way, the Americans won), but it was nice to see the Russian team in the match for third place. If the Russians had conceded one goal less, it would have been very good. And so - a defeat from the Finns with a minimum score and best result in their own Olympic history.

Three days before the end of the Games, Russia has practically lost the chance to break into the top ten overall standings. If we can still count on fulfilling the norm for gold medals, then in terms of the number of silver medals, our rivals are out of reach.
