Meet Finger Yoga - Mudras

Ayurveda is India's priceless gift for the healing of our people. Do you know that with the help of certain combinations of fingers you can heal a person from so many ailments? And they were developed by ancient Indian medicine - Ayurveda. Ayurveda means "pure knowledge" in Sanskrit. The knowledge contained in Ayurveda is extremely complex, especially for Europeans who are not familiar with the intricacies of Eastern esoteric knowledge.

Guru Maharishi somewhat simplified, systematized and summarized the knowledge of ancient Indian medicine and created a more understandable for us, Europeans, Maharishi system - Ayurveda. Ayurvedic medicine is multicomponent and proceeds from the concept of a single field and a holistic organism, as well as from a strictly individualized approach to each type of organism. The Ayurveda system has a strictly individualized complex therapeutic purpose, which includes medical nutrition, schedule, physical exercise, drinking water, treatment with medicinal plants, minerals, metals, color and light, acupuncture, word. And finally, one of the main constituent parts this health system is the yoga of the fingers, or mudra, with which we want to introduce our reader.

It is noteworthy that this became possible thanks to the constantly growing and strengthening contacts with India in the field of medicine and healthcare, and not only Russia, but also Belarus. Therefore, it is by no means accidental that it was in Minsk that the material on this issue was first published (I mean the book by E.I. Gonikman “How to get yourself out of stress: Ayurveda - finger yoga - mudras.” - Minsk: Center traditional medicine"Santana", 1992). It was this work that served us as one of the sources in preparing the material on this topic. E.I. Gonikman considers mudras as a kind of help and a gift from distant and beautiful India for the recovery of our people, who have been seriously affected by the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.

Wise - they are wise. In Sanskrit, mudra refers to the ritual position of the hands in the Indo-Buddhist religion. The position of the hands - mudras - is strictly defined by the canon and has a secret symbolic meaning. Mudra connoisseurs count hundreds of different meanings in combinations and figures depicted by fingers.

Numerous mudras in India contain a revelation that is understandable only to the initiated. There are mudras symbolizing mercy, assurance, teaching, reflection, threat, etc.

“We have selected among the many wise ones,” E.I. writes in his book. Gonikman, - the implementation of which provides a significant healing effect and with certain skills is easily doable. Not all of us can do amazing art Indian yogis, their excellent wellness programs. In addition, there are contraindications for a certain category of patients, so you can’t practice big yoga without a teacher (guru).

What we offer you is available to everyone, has no contraindications. Practicing daily, you will very soon feel the healing value of mudras.

What is the basis of the healing effect of mudras? In previous materials, we have already told you that any disease is associated with a violation of bioenergetics in a particular organ, as well as “malfunctions” in the operation of the corresponding energy channels responsible for the function of organs and body systems. Ancient Indian healers, offering one or another combination, thereby close the energy channels, causing the desired healing effect. It goes without saying that it is very difficult to correct a disturbed bioenergy in one or two such procedures. Therefore, when performing mudras, be patient. After all, you acquire your illnesses for years. That is why there is not enough desire to be healed here, more time and perseverance are needed. Any treatment must begin with a review of one's life position. No wonder they say that the disease is a retribution for sins. Therefore, analyze your actions and thoughts. When performing mudras, always turn your face to the east. This alone (even without performing mudras) can significantly reinforce your disturbed bioenergetics.

Mudras can be performed in any position, but the “lotus position” is considered optimal. All exercises are performed calmly, without the slightest muscle tension and any effort. Performing mudras does not require a special setting or room, they can be performed, for example, even while walking, not to mention when you are sitting at home and watching TV. Mudras are performed with both hands. Total time for classes daily 45 minutes. It is not forbidden at all if you collect this time several times during the day: for example, 3 times for 15 minutes or, say, 9 times for 5 minutes.

The effect in the case of some chronic diseases usually occurs after a month of continuous training, and sometimes later. But you will definitely feel relieved. We repeat, just be patient!

In acute diseases, after a few days you will feel an improvement in health and well-being. Sometimes, for example, with heart disease, improvement occurs within a day.

It remains to add to this that the drawings we borrowed with the image of mudras and a slightly modified text to them from the already mentioned book by E.I. Gonikman were once prepared by the author of the Minsk edition in collaboration with the head of the department of oriental medicine of the Central Mongolian Gandan Monastery, the head of the department of the international adaptation service, Lama Maramba Singh. Emma Gonikman is a member of the International Association of Specialists in Electropuncture and Alternative Medicine and at the same time the head of the Santana Traditional Medicine Center. We also express our sincere gratitude to the publishing group of the Center for Traditional Medicine and the Technopolis company, who managed to prepare and publish an excellent book.

Mudra "Shell" (Fig. 92)

Rice. 92. Mudra "Shell"

Indications: diseases of the throat, larynx, hoarseness. When performing this mudra, the voice intensifies. Therefore, it should be adopted primarily by singers, artists, teachers and professional politicians, as well as radio and television announcers. We advise you to carefully look at this mudra and parents, since children suffer from diseases of the nasopharynx quite often. A real scourge for children is a false croup, characterized by a spasm of the muscles of the larynx, as well as swelling of its mucous membrane. In children's practice, I am quite widely and with good effect I use this mudra. Children, even small ones, quickly and easily learn the necessary position of the hands and do everything as it should, you just need to sit next to them. The execution technique is very simple. Two joined hands depict a figure very similar to a shell. four fingers right hand hold the thumb of the left hand. Thumb right hand touches the pad of the middle finger of the left hand.

Mudra "Cow" (Fig. 93)

Today, everyone, even children, is well aware that in India the cow is considered a sacred animal. Therefore, it is not surprising that this is reflected in the name of the mudra. Moreover, the fingers laid aside and widely apart are very reminiscent of the horns of this animal.

Rice. 93. Mudra "Cow"

Indications: "rheumatic" pains, attacks of sciatica, diseases of the joints.

Execution Method: the little finger of the left hand touches the ring (heart) finger of the right hand; the little finger of the right hand touches the ring finger of the left hand. At the same time, the middle finger of the right hand is connected to the index finger of the left hand, and the middle finger of the left hand to the index finger of the right hand. The thumbs are spread out like a cow's horns.

Mudra "Knowledge" (Fig. 94)

This mudra is one of the most important. It relieves emotional stress, anxiety, restlessness, melancholy, sadness, melancholy and depression. Improves thinking, activates memory, concentrates potentialities.

Rice. 94. Mudra "Knowledge"

Indications: insomnia, excessive sleepiness, high blood pressure. This mudra revives us as if anew. Many thinkers, philosophers, scientists used and use this mudra. However, why only them? The very name of this mudra already suggests that a wider circle of people should be engaged in this exercise, that is, all those who receive knowledge in schools and educational institutions. Another thing is that many simply do not know about it. Therefore, we advise parents to also include this mudra in their arsenal.

Execution technique not hard to remember at all. The index finger connects easily to the pad of the thumb. The remaining three fingers are straightened (not tense).

Mudra "Heaven" (Fig. 95)

The sky is connected with the higher forces - with the upper man, with the head, with the Cosmos, from which we draw our mind and energy.

Rice. 95. Mudra "Heaven"

Indications: for people suffering from ear diseases, hearing loss. The execution of the “Heaven” mudra in some cases leads to a very rapid improvement in hearing. Prolonged practice leads to almost complete cure of many ear diseases. According to the Central Russian Institute for the Improvement of Doctors in Moscow, in particular, specialists from the Department of Otolaryngology childhood, the number of cases of hearing loss in children has increased dramatically, as well as the number of chronic diseases of the middle ear. That is why parents of sick children should also widely use this technique. Meanwhile, during a recent advanced training course at this department, I did not hear a single word about the existence of such a simple and at the same time very effective method. All this once again confirms that official health care continues to stubbornly ignore the invaluable thousand-year experience of traditional medicine. But we know that there is such a great exercise, and you can use it successfully.

The method of its execution is also simple. We bend the middle finger so that it touches the base of the thumb with the pad, while pressing the bent middle finger with the thumb. The remaining fingers are straight and not tense. That's all wisdom.

Mudra "Wind" (Fig. 96)

As already mentioned, in oriental medicine“wind” is understood as a damaging factor of the external environment - “wind diseases”, as well as the primary element of the element “air”, which is part of the structure of the Universe and our body.

Rice. 96. Mudra "Wind"

Indications: muscle pain, sciatica, trembling of hands, neck, head.

When performing the “Wind” mudra, after a few hours you can notice a significant improvement in the condition. In chronic diseases, this mudra should be used alternately with the “Life” mudra. Exercise can be stopped after improvement and the beginning of the disappearance of signs of the disease, expressed in visible muscle trembling.

Execution Method: the index finger is laid so that it reaches the base of the thumb with a small pillow. With the thumb, lightly hold this finger, and the remaining fingers are straightened and relaxed.

Mudra "Raising" (Fig. 97)

Indications: with colds, sore throat, pneumonia, cough, runny nose, sinusitis, overweight. Performing this mudra mobilizes the body's defenses, improves immunity and promotes a quick recovery. From here it is not difficult to guess why this mudra is so named.

Rice. 97. Mudra "Raising"

If you have excess weight, it must be removed. Simultaneously with the implementation of this mudra, you must follow the following diet: drink at least 8 glasses of boiled water during the day. hot water little sips. Then the feeling of hunger will not be so painful. Food should consist entirely of fruits, rice and curdled milk.

However, E.I. Gonikman sternly warns: "Using this mudra too long and often can cause apathy and even lethargy - do not overdo it!" Let’s add on our own: this mudra can also be used by the same schoolchildren to fight the “cold”. But, given the warnings, it is better if they do this under the supervision of adults.

Execution Method: both palms are joined together, fingers crossed. The thumb of one hand is set aside and surrounded by the index finger and thumb of the other hand.

Mudra "Saving life" (first aid for cordial attack) (Fig. 98)

Everyone should learn how to perform this mudra, since its timely application can save your own life, as well as the life of your loved ones, relatives and friends.

Rice. 98. Mudra "Saving Life"

Indications: pain in the heart, heart attacks, frequent palpitations, discomfort in the region of the heart with anxiety and longing, myocardial infarction. In all these conditions, you must immediately begin to perform this mudra with both hands at the same time. Relief comes immediately, the action is similar to the use of nitroglycerin (repeatedly tested on myself).

Execution Method: we bend the index finger so that it touches the base of the thumb with the pad of the end phalanx (the projection point of the heart is just located here). At the same time, we fold the middle, ring and thumb fingers with pads, the little finger remains straightened.

Mudra "Life" (Fig. 99)

The implementation of this mudra equalizes the energy potential of the whole organism, helps to strengthen its vitality, increases efficiency, endurance, visual acuity, gives vigor and improves overall well-being.

Rice. 99. Mudra "Life"

Indications: a state of rapid fatigue, impotence, visual impairment, eye disease. This is especially important in children's practice, since a child with glasses is now the rule rather than the exception. It is noteworthy that conditions close to myopia are now formed already in kindergarten. The main reason for this is the unusually increased visual load: modeling, drawing, reading, watching cartoons and other TV programs. Meanwhile, the glasses prescribed by the vast majority of ophthalmologists (the only exception is Yu.A. Utekhin's bifocal glasses) are a kind of prosthesis. They do not correct myopia as such, but due to the refractive properties of the lenses they help the eye to see better. Thus, the accommodative muscles of the eye and the lens lose their loads. And this does not pass without a trace for the body. From constant inactivity, the muscles of the eye weaken, as a result of this, stronger lenses have to be prescribed. So it turns out that, having put on glasses in childhood due to myopia, a person then wears them without taking them off all his life. Therefore, we strongly recommend that all parents, including those who have children without glasses yet, take note of the “Life” mudra.

Execution technique it is simple: the pads of the ring finger, little finger and thumb are connected together, and the rest are freely straightened. Performed with both hands at the same time.

Mudra"Earth" (Fig. 100)

Earth is one of the primary elements from which our body is built, one of the elements that determines the type of personality and the tendency to disease. But in general, our beautiful planet Earth, together with the Great Cosmos, gives life to everything that lives on it.

Rice. 100. Mudra "Earth"

Indications: improvement of the psychophysical state of the body, relief of mental weakness, stress relief. The implementation of this mudra improves an objective assessment of one's own personality, increases self-confidence, and also provides protection from negative external energy influences, for example, from the so-called evil eye, bioenergetic vampirism.

Execution Method: the ring and thumb are connected by pads with slight pressure. The remaining fingers are straightened. Performed with both hands.

Mudra "Water" (Fig. 101)

Water is one of the five primary elements that form our body and planet. The element of water gives a certain color to people born in the zodiac group of this element, as well as a tendency to disease. In a general sense, water is the basis of life, without which all life on the planet is unthinkable.

Rice. 101. Mudra "Water"

Indications: with an excess of sputum, water or mucus in the lungs, stomach (increased production of mucus during inflammation), etc. Excessive accumulation of mucus in the body can, according to Eastern concepts, cause an energy blockade of the whole organism. The implementation of this mudra is also recommended for diseases of the liver and biliary system, intestinal colic, and bloating.

Execution Method: bend the little finger of the right hand so that it touches the base of the thumb, with which we lightly press the little finger. We clasp the right hand from below with the left hand, while the thumb of the left hand is located on the thumb of the right hand.

Mudra "Energy" (Fig. 102)

Life is unthinkable without energy. Energy fields and radiations permeate the entire Universe, interacting with each other, radiating and absorbing, in order to be reborn again.

The ancient Hindus called the flow of energy prana, Chinese - qi, Japanese - chi, Vietnamese - hee. Concentrated and directed energy is capable of performing miracles of both creation and healing, as well as destruction. The polarity of energy (plus and minus) is the basis of movement and life.

Rice. 102. Mudra "Energy"

The implementation of this mudra provides an analgesic effect, as well as the removal of various poisons and toxins from the body that poison it. This mudra treats diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract (ureters and bladder), as well as the spine, leads to a cleansing of the body. It is quite applicable in children's practice. So all parents who have children with kidney pathology and spinal diseases in their care should remember this method.

Execution Method: we connect the pads of the middle, ring and thumb together, the remaining fingers are freely straightened.

Mudra "Window of Wisdom" (Fig. 103)

This mudra opens important centers for life that contribute to the development of thinking, activates mental activity, which is practically necessary for every person, but especially for those studying at a school or educational institution. As for diseases, first of all, this mudra is indicated for violations of cerebral circulation and sclerosis of cerebral vessels. And all this, as you know, takes place at an already more respectable age.

The temple is a collective image of thought, strength, mind, holiness and discipline. Combining all this into one whole, we create the unity of thought, mind, nature and Cosmos. The implementation of this mudra directs our actions to the path of knowledge and worship of the Higher Mind, for the implementation of good deeds; it will help a person to become noble - it will create in him a feeling of unity with the Cosmos.

The remaining fingers of the same name of the left and right hands are connected in a straightened position. In this case, the index and ring fingers are interconnected above the bent middle fingers. This is how the “Temple of the Dragon” mudra is performed. The index and ring fingers symbolically represent the roof of the "temple", the thumbs represent the Dragon's head, and the little fingers represent the Dragon's tail.

Mudra "Three columns of the Cosmos" (Fig. 105)

The world consists of three foundations, or layers - lower, middle and higher, which symbolizes the past, present and future. The unity of these three foundations gives birth, life and death. All this rests on two opposites - yang And yin, which, when combined, give movement, rebirth, a stream of life moving in a circle. This image (a miniature reflection of life) gives an understanding of one's place in the world and the Cosmos, one's destiny, encourages purification and reverence for the Higher Mind and the wisdom of Nature.

The dome of the turtle forms an energy clot that is utilized by the body for its own needs.

Rice. 107. Mudra "Turtle"

Indications: fatigue, dysfunction of cardio-vascular system.

In Eastern myths, the "Dragon's Tooth" symbolizes strength and power. Performing the “Dragon's Tooth” mudra, a person, as it were, acquires these qualities, increases his spirituality and develops consciousness.

Rice. 108. Mudra "Dragon's Tooth"

Indications: confused consciousness, impaired coordination of movements, stress and emotional instability.

Execution Method: the thumbs of both hands are pressed to the inner surface of the palm. The middle, index and little fingers are bent and pressed to the palm. The index fingers of both hands are extended and pointing upwards.

Mudra "Chandman's Bowl" (Fig. 109)

In Eastern mythology, the "nine jewels" symbolize the spiritual richness of life. The nine jewels make up the body, mind and consciousness of a person, as well as the surrounding world. Collecting all nine jewels in one bowl, we affirm the unity of the soul and body, the unity of man and the Cosmos. A filled bowl symbolizes well-being and prosperity.

Use the "Dragon's Head" mudra both for the prevention of "cold" infections, and in case of illness. Be sure to teach this mudra to your children.

Mudra "Scallop" (Fig. 112)

The lotus is an aquatic plant that serves as a religious symbol, especially in India and Egypt. The lotus has its roots in the earth, its stem passes through the water, and the flower opens in the air, under the rays of the Sun (the element of fire). So, therefore, passing through all the elements, he personifies all five elements and the whole world. His flower is not wetted by water, does not touch the ground. With the help of one of the oldest teachings, mudras, you can keep your body in good shape every day. When using the mudras given in our article, the energy in your body will always circulate correctly.

In ancient times, Indian sages developed a special technique for influencing the body with the help of certain positions of the hands and fingers. It is called mudra. Its creators believed that the hands are interconnected with internal organs a person, and with the right impact on certain points, a noticeable improvement in health can be achieved. Mudras are exercises for the fingers, with the help of which reflexogenic zones are activated, which, in turn, can affect the well-being and mood of a person.

Very easy to perform mudras can be practiced in any position - lying or sitting, and even on the go. In addition, they are recommended for children, debilitated, sick and elderly people.

Initially, there were 9 mudras that were used for meditation.
To date there are dozens of mudras, which are used in yoga, in Indian dances (which have much in common with yoga), in martial arts - judo, aikido, tai chi, and so on. But it is in kundalini yoga that mudras are used to enhance the effect of asanas: a certain position of the fingers in combination with the posture of the body.

This direction of yoga (in fact, like the modern course of official medicine - reflexology) explains the effectiveness of the exercises performed by the fact that there are certain reflexogenic zones on the hands and fingers corresponding to the organs of the human body.

Influencing them causes a change in the work of these organs.
We can say that the hands are in this sense a "mirror of the soul and body."

To get the most out of mudras, you need to perform them correctly.
First you need to choose one mudra and perform it three times a day for 3-5 minutes for 21 days. Then you can move on to another mudra and so on.

The effect of performing the mudras should be felt in the form of intense warmth, reduced discomfort and pain (if present in some area), and reduced emotional tension.
These effects occur during or immediately after training, sometimes the practitioner may feel tired and trembling in the hands.
