Sports
Both girls and boys will be able to participate in the 29th World University Games. Mandatory sports program will include competitions in 8 sports:
- alpine skiing;
- hockey;
- cross-country skiing;
- biathlon;
- curling;
- short track;
- figure skating;
- snowboard.
Additionally, freestyle competitions will be held, as well as orienteering on skis. These sports were chosen by the organizers. Bandy was also added to the program in 2015 as a demonstration game. For the first time this type sport was presented at competitions in Kazakhstan.
The main feature of the Winter Universiade in Russia was the clock installed on the embankment of the Yenisei River with a countdown. They began their work on June 5, 2016 – exactly one thousand days before the start of the event.
Summer Universiade 2017 in Taipei: schedule of football competitions (men, women)
The football tournament at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Chinese Taipei will be held from August 18 to 28. Both Russian teams will also compete for awards at the student games.
The Russian men's team at the 2017 Summer Universiade will be led by Alexey Sherstnev.
Russian football players will play in the group stage with the Italians, Brazilians and Americans.
The Russian women's national football team in Taipei will perform under the leadership of Elena Fomina; in Group D, the Russians will meet with Great Britain and South Africa.
Two each best teams from each group will advance to the quarter finals, the remaining participants will compete for places lower than eighth.
