Yes, to the fact that the Discovery Channel is approaching the finale of the Week of Speed. Her heroes are ready to strike sparks from the track for the sake of victory.

No. 1. Circuit racing

Track:

indoor racing track of complex configuration with big amount turns.

Coating: Rules.

On paper, the conditions are simple: you need to drive a few laps faster than your rivals and successfully pass the turns. But in fact, all these hairpins, apexes, esques and chicanes bring a lot of adrenaline to pilots and spectators. Ring races are the ones that everyone dreams about: speed, fireballs with a bunch of buttons, overalls that do not take burning fuel, the roar of engines, the squeal of tires ... In general, quite a man's music.

Formula 1 is a legendary design-class circuit race in open-wheel cars that originates from British horse racing. This is the world championship where everything is the best: the fastest cars, the biggest budgets, the most successful pilots and the coolest engineering teams that are fighting for their constructors' championship. The stages are called Grand Prix, to access each of them you need to meet many conditions, and participation itself is the dream of any rider. This year, the fight also promises to be hot, although Formula 1. There is no one higher than the stars of these races in motorsport: Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Rubens Barrichello, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen... The names speak for themselves.

NASCAR is the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing, which gave its name to the NASCAR Cup Series, the premier auto racing championship in the United States, the progenitor of which is illegal bootlegging racing. A powerful engine is hidden under light bodies, stylized as civilian cars, and the pilot is reliably protected by a safety cage. At each of the 36 racing stages of the year, cars turn left all the time on the ring track and try not to crash into the stands or rivals. Wheel explosions, car crashes, crashes into a concrete wall at speed, and fights after the finish line - that's all NASCAR. And the coolest pilot is Richard "King" Petty, who not only glorified these races, but also made them financially successful.

The Indy 500 (also Indianapolis 500 and The 500) claims to be the world's oldest regular auto race (although we believe it's the Sicilian Targa Florio), it's one of the most prestigious circuit races in the world and has been running since 1911. A distance of 500 miles of cars pass along the track, nicknamed the "old brick": for a long time the surface was made of bricks, which now remain only at the start-finish line. On Pole Day, after the qualifying heats, the order of drivers at the start is determined; on Push-Out Day, the losers are eliminated. Before the race, the owners of the track say "Gentlemen, start the engines!" (and ladies, if any). Broadcast races Indy 500 on TV watched by millions of viewers from different countries, and already at the end of May it will be possible to see everything with your own eyes, including a unique tradition: the leader at the finish line does not drink champagne, as in other races, but milk. But he receives a million dollars as a reward, so you can be patient.

No. 2. Rally

Track:

mostly closed roads common use.

Coating:

asphalt, soil, gravel, ice, snow, sand, stones.

Rules.

Any rally is both an exam and a lottery. On the track there are stages on ordinary roads, special stages and even super special stages - they are more difficult, and it is there that there is a serious struggle for skill and time. There are no seasonal barriers, so it is not always clear in advance what kind of surface the pilots will meet on the way from point A to point B. Of course, there are detailed description route - a transcript, which is voiced by the navigator. But from the fact that you are kindly informed about the springboard or the pit ahead, somehow it doesn’t get any easier. The main competition in this category is the WRC (World Rally Championship) - the world rally championship under the auspices of the FIA, which is held at any time of the year.

Russian Rally Championship- a sequel to the Soviet racing series, the main tournament project of the Russian Automobile Federation and the opportunity to get, along with the title of the best racer in the country, a pass to big motorsport. The conditions are generally simple: your car has all the documents in order, and you yourself removed the yellow “U” sticker from the rear window a long time ago, received a RAF license and are ready to go through all the stages with maximum profit.

In the same paragraph, we will also mention rally raids, although they have little in common with rallies. The length of such races is measured in thousands of kilometers, they often pass through the territory of several countries and last for weeks. Our report on the rally-raid " Silk Road"You can read.

Dakar is the former Paris-Dakar rally raid, which is now held on the territory of South America, an annual transcontinental marathon in which professionals and amateurs compete in different classes, from cars to ATVs and trucks (in the latter, the traditional favorite is the Russian team "KAMAZ-master"). Each participant has a navigator, a GPS tracker in case of an emergency and a "legend" - a map on which to move. Cheaters are shamefully removed from the race, but this rarely happens - there are few people who want to go to a foggy future through dunes and stones. The winner will be the one who comes first and does not break on the way - both in direct and in figuratively. Throughout the days of the race, drivers and cars are working to the limit of their capabilities, and all breakdowns have to be fixed at night instead of well-deserved hours of sleep. That is why in the Dakar racers are often taken off the track to a hospital bed - to recuperate.

Budapest - Bamako(or Great African Run) - the world's largest amateur rally from Hungary to Mali under the motto "Anyone, anything, anyway". There are no conditions: the composition of the crew, the type of transport, the accuracy of the route and time are not important, and you can even walk to the finish line. The main thing is to help starving African children and other poor along the way. No, this is not a bearded joke, but the meaning of the whole action: the rally participants, for example, donated an ambulance to a hospital in Mali, dug a well in the village, bought medicines for a clinic in the slums, textbooks for children and bicycles for women who travel far to work. Behind best help Mother Teresa is supposed to be rewarded - not that everything was done for her sake, but nice, right?

No. 3. Trophy

Trophy Ladoga Forest, 2017. Photo: www.ladoga-trophy.ru

Track:

rugged terrain.

Coating:

swamps, rivers, windbreak, virgin snow, mud.

Rules.

Pilots of trophy-raids do not consider Russian roads a disaster: when the RAF Committee chooses a route according to the principle “the worse, the better”, it has more than enough options. This is the territory of all-wheel drive, high ground clearance, mud wheels and differential locks. Pilots on trained off-road vehicles, motorcycles and ATVs must pass the obstacle course without delay, errors and breakdowns. The last condition is not easy to fulfill: on the linear and navigation special stages, the probability of accidents and forced stops exceeds 146%, so the crews are equipped with shovels, hijacks, winches, cables and fearless navigators ready to get into the mud up to their waists. Trophy is one of the few tournaments where it is customary to help a competitor: if he drowns in a swamp because you drove past, no victory will fix it.

Expedition Trophy- the world's longest winter rally, in which cold and logic tasks are added to the virgin impassability. You need to navigate, drive, overtake, look for waypoints and live in field conditions for two whole weeks, moving from Murmansk to Vladivostok. In 2015, the race was decided to be held every five years, and if everything goes according to plan, the next one will take place in 2020. The promised prize for the winner is $100,000. There are smaller analogues of the Expedition-Trophy abroad: in Croatia (Croatia-Trophy), New Zealand (Outback Challenge), Ukraine (Ukraine-Trophy) and Malaysia (Rainforest Challenge).

Ladoga-Trophy - a raid with a start and finish on St. Isaac's Square in St. Petersburg. Competitors on advanced motorcycles, trophy bikes, ATVs and off-road vehicles must cover a 1200 km course, of which difficult special stages cover 150-400 km depending on the route in the legend. There are nine categories in Ladoga, including ATVs, sports and tourism, this year a trophy-raid across Karelia and Leningradskaya the region will pass from May 26 to June 3.

Ladoga Forest 2017

Susanin-Trophy is an international raid made in Kostroma, which is supported by local media and the administration of the region, and the list of one hundred participating crews includes Belarusian, Georgian, Kazakh and Russian teams from different cities. One of the public's favorite features is the "viewpoints": these are banners that jeepers must reach at a time determined by the legend and touch them with their hands without leaving the car. The navigator takes a proof photo, and the audience can get into the frame and, at the same time, into the history of the trophy raid. As in the Budapest-Bamako rally, Susanin-Trophy has a charitable component: since 2009, participants have been helping one of the region's orphanages, and every year a new one.

#4 Endurance Racing

"24 Hours of Le Mans", 2017

Track:

indoor racing tracks.

Coating: Rules.

The name speaks for itself: you need to demonstrate not only skill, but also the fortitude of the spirit and body. And technicians! Like mere mortals, pilots have needs like food and sleep, but when it comes to racing, road, speed, and following the rules come first. Two classes of prototypes and two touring cars - GT participate in the world championship. At pit stops, pilots change and check the condition of the cars: it is necessary to pass the track first in its class, but breakdowns interfere, which sometimes have to be fixed for an hour or more.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans (24 Heures du Mans) is the world's oldest endurance race, which has been taking place in France at the Sarte circuit since 1923. The winner is the crew that was able to cover the greatest distance in 24 hours, because the goal of this race has always been the same - to determine the most reliable and economical car. The race is held in the summer, and the matter is often complicated by the heat, but no difficulties stop those who want to put on the symbolic “Triple Crown” of endurance racing, winning also the “24 Hours of Daytona” and “12 Hours of Sebring”. By the way, Le Mans races are also included in the triple combo of all motorsport: this is a victory in them, Formula 1 and IndyCar races. The authority of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is such that winning this race is considered by many drivers and teams to be more important than winning the entire World Championship.

24 Hours of Spa - the annual race of the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium on the track Spa - Francorchamps, the second oldest after the French daily race of pilots. It was first held in 1924. Racers rush along the seven-kilometer ring, trying to save the car and get ahead of their rivals, overcome weather conditions, fatigue and hunger. "24 Hours Spa" is not at all the spa that the girls talk about: it will not work to relax.

24 hours Nurburgring- a race that has existed since 1970 and is supported by the largest in Europe (and in the world!) German car club ADAC. The Nordschleife of the Nürburgring is called the "Green Hell" for a reason - it is one of the most dangerous tracks in the world. The start on the Nordschleife, which is divided into three groups, includes 220 sports cars. There are about eight hundred riders, three to six people per crew, each of which has the right to spend no more than two and a half hours behind the wheel. By the way, the "Green Hell" in 1996 was conquered by the racer Sabina Schmitz, and a year later she again accepted his challenge - and won.

What car competitions or car championships do you know? And what do you know about the world of motorsport? Naturally, most of you will first of all remember Formula 1 racing. This is the most popular car racing in the world. But not the only championship where the great racing drivers and car engineers find out who is the best in motorsport. DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) is a German racing series. Car races organized by companies And, deciding to revive the legendary racing, given the negative experience of the DTM-ITC and FIA GT competitions, which took place in the 90s, but did not gain popularity.

Eventually Opel and Mercedes-Benz created the rules of DTM racing in such a way that the cars are faster and the races are spectacular. Also, the DTM auto racing rulebook, in fact, prevents the "race of budgets" of the teams, which makes the outcome of all stages of the competition unpredictable.

The current DTM World Champion is Marco Wittmann, who won the 2016 DTM title.

street racing

Street racing - Street racing.
Many people think that street racing is drag racing, in fact, this is the general name for illegal races, which are divided into different types.
Below you can read about the main types of street racing.

Most of the disciplines are held both legally (various championships at a high world level) and illegally - the level of yard races (security leaves much to be desired)

drag racing

Drag racing is a purely American invention. It is a race for maximum acceleration on straight section 1/2 or 1/4 mile paved trails (804 or 402 meters). Only two cars or motorcycles take part in each race. In order to equalize the initial chances of the participants, a classification has been established according to the types of construction, weight and engine volume. The winner in each class is determined by the Olympic system.

A fixed distance distinguishes drag racing from street racing, in which the main task is to reach a predetermined finish line by any route. Unlike the latter, drag racing is safe for the rest of the participants. traffic, since the competitions are held on special tracks according to clearly established rules; therefore abroad these races have the status international competitions recognized by the FIA.
Many people say that drag came from ordinary traffic lights, the desire to leave the traffic lights first is familiar to everyone, and the distance between traffic lights in America is 402 meters.

Drift

Drift, he is also drifting, he is, according to the dictionary, “a special technique for making a turn”, the English-Russian dictionary says that literally “drifting” is translated as “drift” or “skidding”.

Drifting is a highly technical form of motorsport in which the driver controls the car. high power at 450 Horse power when it skids from side to side at high speed (approximately 100 - 150 km / h) along a certain track. It is similar to rally racing on an ice track, but is run on a termacadam (paved track), speed, angle of attack, execution and style are judged, and not just the fact of who finishes first. Drifting cars are usually compact or medium sized, rear wheel drive. The goal is to supply enough power to rear wheels in order to break the grip of the wheels with the road and start sliding, or skidding, when the car is accelerating. Once a skid begins, it must be maintained through the turn using near full power, a combination of braking and precise counter-steer. Drifting takes all the exciting moments traditional species motorsport and connects them in non-stop competition.

The goal in drifting is to navigate corners at the highest possible speed in a controlled drift. Such competitions are usually held on specially prepared tracks. The winner is the one who spent the least time on the distance, while demonstrating filigree driving technique. The task of the driver is, roughly speaking, to control the slip angle, setting the trajectory he needs, the movement of the car itself.

burn out
Burn out or burning rubber
Some kind of show - a lot of smoke, whistling and the smell of burnt rubber
The meaning is almost standing still to burn rubber on asphalt, skidding.

street challenge

Stritchelendzh is a new area of urban illegal street sports - illegal street pursuit. Unlike drag racing, which traditionally takes place on closed tracks, street challenge is a race on the carriageway general purpose. At the same time, compliance with the rules of the road remains entirely on the participants in the race.

According to the scheme, the street challenge is close to a rally. Competitors are required to drive around several different checkpoints. The start of the participants is simultaneous. The passage of the checkpoint is fixed by the receipt of the control package. The one who collected the packages the fastest and returned back is declared the winner. The order of passing the control points and the route between them is usually arbitrary, which requires the driver or navigator (if the crew consists of more than 2 people) to have a good knowledge of the traffic organization in the area of the competition. Traditionally, the crew consists of 2 people - a pilot and a navigator.

Participation in such competitions is dangerous for both the participants and the road users around them. Frequent violations of the speed limit, marking lines instructions lead to severe accidents. IN this moment there is no way by which this species competitions could be brought into the mainstream of motorsport, providing safety for participants and spectators.

Dyno challenge
Dino Challenge

The owners of tuning cars often exaggerate the power of their cars. They will say "five hundred forces", but only fifty under the hood. Do you want to prove to everyone that your words can be trusted? Or bring the opponent to clean water? Or do you really not know how much power your engine develops, but really want to know?
A roller monodrive power stand is deployed on the site and each participant brings his car to the stand and starts driving, the car stands still because it is rigidly fixed, and the wheels spin on special rollers, a few seconds and the equipment shows the power of your car
.

So, are you interested in the power of your (or someone else's) car? Direct road to dino challenge

car cramming

Car stuffing competition.

Behind given time each team must stuff into the car as much as possible more people.
At the end of the time it is necessary that all doors, windows, etc. were closed, and the car started and stood running for 1 minute.

The winner, respectively, is the one who has more people climbed into the car!

Stunt Riding

Stunt riding is a stunt competition and show on moto and quad bikes, as well as on scooters.

The point of the competition is to do as many fashionable tricks as possible in a given time.

This includes riding on the rear and front wheels, jumping on the gas tank while driving, spinning nickels and a bunch of other tricks.

Types of other automotive competitions

Ring auto racing - racing cars on a certain closed track for several passages ("laps"). Start and finish are usually the same.
The race circle is rarely a circle or an ellipse. It is usually a closed track with difficult left and right turns. Sometimes the track is an "eight" track, that is, the trajectory of the races intersects in two-dimensional space (in fact, the track does not intersect with the help of bridges or tunnels).

This type includes:

Formula 1- "the pinnacle of motorsport", racing cars with open wheels and a 2.6-liter engine. Formula 1 cars are erroneously considered the fastest racing cars. Although average speed at some stages it exceeds 250 km / h, and the maximum is 350 km / h, there are also faster classes. The trump cards of this class are efficient brakes and aerodynamics. Of all the classes of auto racing, Formula 1 is the most expensive; the budgets of the leading teams are several hundred million US dollars

DTM- German Touring Car Championship.

NASCAR- touring car racing held in the United States.

ChampCar- American racing cars with open wheels? Sami.

A1 Grand Prix- "competition of nations", made as opposed to Formula 1. Unlike Formula 1, this is a monoclass: only a car of one brand is allowed. Designed for lower financial costs for teams, shorter race duration and greater entertainment than Formula 1.

Formula Rus- Russian car racing. Also monoclass. Engine volume 2.0 l, maximum speed about 200 km/h. When designing the car, the goal was to create a reliable and easy to drive car, which can be used even by inexperienced racers.

Formula 1600- Russian car racing. The fastest racing class in Russia - the maximum speed is about 250 km/h. Like Formula 1 - the design class - the teams build and maintain the cars themselves. Most of the cars are built on the basis of the Dallara chassis of the European Formula 3. The engine is super-forced, based on a domestic-made cylinder block (VAZ), has a volume of 1.6 liters, power up to 180 hp.

Rally

Competition on open courses, often on public roads or off-road. This type includes, for example, World Rally Championship (WRC) and various rally and trophy raids. Cars are produced one at a time, the winner is the one who covers the distance in the shortest time.

Regular cars with significant safety modifications (roll cage, fire extinguishing system, etc.) are allowed to participate in the rally. True, the teams, in addition to this, significantly alter the engine and chassis of the cars in order to increase the power and durability of the suspension.

Tracks are laid on public roads, and very often on dirt roads. The crews must drive the track according to a pre-issued legend, in which all the turns, slopes and much more are precisely registered.

In addition to the classic rally, there are rally marathons (rally raids), which are an independent type of competition. As a rule, all-wheel drive cars, trucks and special vehicles, as well as motorcycles are allowed to participate in them. The routes are often laid along pre-explored routes across the territories of several regions, countries and even continents. But unlike the classic rally, the crews do not receive detailed route documents, but must independently find their way using satellite navigation equipment (for example, the Paris-Dakar rally)

autocross

Racing on a dirt ring track. This type of racing is very popular, because a modified road car is enough to participate, and these races are quite spectacular (firstly, most of the track is visible, and secondly, the racers compete directly with each other, and not for a while). Autocross is arranged on ordinary cars and on buggy- small four-wheel drive cars made specifically for such races.

Auto trial

Competitions to overcome almost impassable, very short, often specially prepared tracks. Especially spectacular Traktrial(monster truck competition).

Karting

Kart racing - small cars, consisting of a frame, a motorcycle engine and a seat. The kart costs less than any racing car, and is relatively safe. Therefore, karting is an ideal sport for novice racers - as well as a recreation for people who are not involved in auto racing. The walking kart has an engine with a capacity of about 9 horsepower and develops a speed of about 50 km / h; sports can develop over 200 km / h.

We are talking about different things with Nikolai Frontov (MrRASER) - multiple champion of Russia and world champion according to WCG 2008.

cybersport

Although these games are ideal in terms of competition, they, unfortunately, do not have one attribute that is very important for computer sports - the match viewing mode ( spectators mode). However, now it is not so important, because many players broadcast their races using popular stream platforms.

Previously, not a single self-respecting championship could do without racing. Today there are almost no major tournaments in the CIS countries.

Determining for myself the races ideal for competitions, I can single out and. The first has everything you need, and only one minus - it is exclusively for consoles. If it was available on PC, I'm sure it would have a lot of championships. The second is one of the most arcade races in video game history. Playing it is fun and interesting, but I would not call it serious racing in the usual sense of the term.

I can also highlight very high-quality races, well, I like a little, from Codemasters, and old, but no less high-quality rally races.

[Igromania.ru] In the CIS, only a few teams had "racing" lineups. We can remember RoX.KiS and, of course, USSR. Why were other organizations in no hurry to cooperate with virtual racers?

[N. Fronts] In fact, the main reason is that over the years there have been negligibly few major championships. This is the reason for the low interest of potential sponsors and professional teams to everything that is directly related to virtual racing.

What champion doesn't dream of riding a red Ferrari at least once?

In addition, riders have always needed a team in full sense of the word, and not every professional eSports team could afford to keep several racers at the same time. And the costs for them have always been higher than, say, for players in or in real-time strategy.

[Igromania.ru] We closely follow all the events, but for a long time we have not heard anything about major championships in racing simulators in the CIS. Interest in this genre has fallen? How is it doing abroad?

[N. Fronts] It's not about the decline in interest in racing as such, it's just that the world has experienced an online revolution. Now games are sharpened for network modes, and in order to be interesting to play, such an MMO element as pumping is often needed. Such games, firstly, are more interesting, and secondly, they allow companies to constantly earn money by updating content and, therefore, do not need promotion so actively (tournaments are, first of all, promotion of the game). Now racing games are divided into three types:

Simulators - relatively few people play them, because the mechanics are quite complicated and it is impossible to play normally without a steering wheel. As an example, I can give iRacing; By the way, many online tournaments are now held on it.

Games tailored for single-player mode, such as . They are interesting to many, but only for the duration of the passage of a single mode (career). Later, the game is forgotten, deleted and waiting for the next part to come out.

MMO racing - such as (by the way, good game) And . They are also very popular, like the aforementioned The Run, but the difference is that these are aimed at extorting money from schoolchildren. In both races, by the way, small championships are regularly held.

[Igromania.ru] Where to start young rider who sleeps and sees himself as the champion of the NFS or any other race? What is the best game to play these days? Which steering wheel to buy? Share your championship secrets!

[N. Fronts] If you want to compete, play Gran Turismo V. In 2012 GT Academy held selections in Russia, and I believe that next year they will organize them again. There you have a real chance to show your best side and, what the hell is not joking, to become a real racer.

To be honest, I am very sorry that last year I could not participate in qualifying for personal reasons. Two of last year's fourteen finalists trained regularly with me at the Moscow club gorace, and I brought the guys a few tenths of a second on each lap, so I think I had a good chance.

Another grand final of the eSports Olympiad from Samsung, and once again Team USSR players are on the podium!

I think racing on mobile devices is very promising. The whole world is now actively switching to tablets, and major championships, I believe, are just around the corner. It's hard to guess, but the experience of the games in the series shows that there are prospects for mobile racing games, and what else!

I can advise fans of mobile platforms to join Real Racing 3, this game is from Electronic Arts exceptionally good. One pity - you can not connect the steering wheel, although on mobile phones they were quite successfully replaced by a gyroscope. Well, as for the PC, the ball rules here Logitech- take the steering wheel of this brand if you want good quality for reasonable money.

A comfortable racing seat and a favorite steering wheel from Logitech are indispensable attributes of any self-respecting virtual racer.

If opportunities allow or you need a steering wheel for Xbox 360, you can look to the side Fanatec. Guys from Thrustmaster, despite all attempts (t500rs), are still supplying the market with raw product at inflated prices. I had a dozen different steering wheels, but in the end only the championship remained LogitechMomoRacing(he brought me silver in Monza and gold in Cologne) and Fanatec Porsche Turbo S limited series.

[Igromania.ru] Tell us about the most intense race in your playing career. What year was it, what were they playing then? What victory are you most proud of?

[N. Fronts] There were many! Adrenaline, emotions, the taste of victory... In fact, I don't have enough of that right now. I will only talk about a few - those that are more vividly imprinted in my memory. Russian final WCG 2008 of the year, against Valera ( USSRxProStreet) turned out to be very difficult.

Red, white and blue on the flags of all three players. There are two Russians and a Dutchman Steffan on the WCG stage.

In fact, that whole championship was incredibly difficult, because I competed not with the players, but with my device - a broken clutch on the steering wheel g25 gave rivals an advantage of three tenths of a second on the lap. Fortunately, my game allowed me to compensate for this by drafting, but this limited my choice of strategy. I will not comment on that match, it's better to see for yourself how it was.

MrRASER and ProStreet find out who is stronger in the World Cyber Games 2008 finals

The second tense match happened a year earlier at the 1/8 stage of the WCG Grand Final. Then my rivals got me good friend Brazilian playartSpeedNG. I remember that fight turned out to be very nervous, because we both knew that the winner, most likely, would become the world champion. Looking ahead, I will say that they were right.

The match started with a map broadway- a very dangerous track and one of my favorites. In the end, we drove four laps with a gap of less than two tenths, it's hard to describe, but before the most dangerous turn of the last lap, my heart just jumped out of my chest. Fortunately, that grand final was not the first for me, and I managed to pull myself together.

That time I came out of the turn better and confidently won the first track. It is a pity, however, that the remaining two races (also held in a tense struggle) were for Rodrigo, who later became the world champion. After racing with me in that tournament, he never lost to anyone else.

Recording of final races at WCG 2007 - Brazilian SpeedNG against Dutchman Steffan.

A victory I'm proud of? I don't even know... Perhaps the Russian Cup in 2006 was my first major tournament, and I was terribly nervous. Because of the hassle, I then lost ProStreet'y and fell into the lower net, which was extremely difficult to get out of. But I managed because I dreamed of getting the cup, which I still have a passion for. In the end, having collected my thoughts, I still managed to take the gold medal, having beaten another of our champions in the final twice - Alan'a ( Alan Enileev).

[Igromania.ru] Imagine that a well-known game developer suddenly turned to you and entrusted the development of racing with an eye on computer sports. What would you do, do you have any unique ideas?

[N. Fronts] I communicated with Jessie Abney, producer, and together with the Russian office Electronic Arts we sent our recommendations, but, unfortunately, it did not work, because some are interested in money, while others need to do their job. The developers simply embody the idea of the producer. Any marketer will tell you that you need to focus on consumer preferences - but game manufacturers never do any research or smart surveys, they just blindly do what they want.

MrRASER and Alan at the press conference on the results of the WCG 2006 Grand Final on Need for Speed.

If we talk about ideal races, this is Gran Turismo for PC with model free to play. Monetization would be that players would pay for the visual improvement of their cars. For development, it would be possible to constantly add new racing series and cars, including street racing or survival races.

[Igromania.ru] At several recent WCG grand finals on Samsung smartphones, Asphalt series competitions were held. How do you feel about such races on mobile platforms?

[N. Fronts] Exactly Asphalt I don't really like it - it's too arcade, besides I don't like to play on Samsung phones. In general, I like only those races in which you can control the gyroscope - I have long outgrown the buttons!

[Igromania.ru] League of Legends and Dota 2 championships are now much more than in other cyber disciplines. Is the new generation of players tired of the hardcore racing and no longer wants to go through the same tracks in an effort to improve their time?

[N. Fronts] I like to play myself League of Legends. The game is really good and addictive. And most importantly - it is sharpened for computer sports. Understand correctly, almost all gamers play games of different genres, and racing is no exception. Therefore, I do not agree that interest has fallen, it's just that racing is now less accessible. They need a good steering wheel and preferably a special chair - and not everyone can afford it.

Race with Polish rider Nadol Infineon. The video is valuable because the player himself explains to the audience where he made mistakes and how to avoid them in the future.

In fact, there are enough network races - Speed Online, NFS World, hardcore iRacing. As for the championships, it's about understanding how to make a business out of it. At Riot this secret knowledge is available, but the leading manufacturers of racing, apparently not. Although here Gran Turismo proves that it is possible to carry out large projects, making a show out of them, and at the same time make good money. In fact, racing has everything ahead - even real motorsport in Russia has just begun to develop, to say nothing of the virtual. Need time.

[Igromania.ru] Tell us more about the GoRace club in Moscow - what is it like and what services does it provide? Are major championships held in it on a regular basis, or are they still more for “their own”?

[N. Fronts] GoRace- This is my trial failed business. The idea was to popularize racing in Russia and create computer club for racers, with all necessary equipment. All this was part of the marketing strategy to increase sales of Gamestul gaming chairs. Who knows, perhaps in a couple of years these boys will become a thunderstorm for all virtual racers on the planet.

A few months later, it turned out that our riders do not like to get out of the house, and the local contingent perceives it more like a slot machine and is not ready to spend enough money and time. Thus, we had two problems at once: the need to change the concept and look for a new place.

The solution was found in the karting club Forza Karting, and the price rose to 150 rubles in 15 minutes. The project finally began to bring in money, but due to disagreements with partners, I soon had to leave it. At the moment I do not follow the development of GoRace, so I cannot say what it is now.

[Igromania.ru] Championship in a computer game helps when driving a real car? Are the skills acquired in NFS applicable on ordinary Moscow roads? By the way, what are you driving today?

[N. Fronts] This of course depends on the game - playing trackmania or NFS World, you can only increase the reaction speed and, at best, master the correct trajectories for typical turns. If we talk about simulators, then, of course, it helps. We somehow talked with Mikhail Alyoshin on this topic and came to the conclusion that the main difference between the simulator and the real car is the very feeling of the fifth point.

That same feeling of delight and joy when you first get into the car of a prestigious racing series.

In simulator races, you realize a little later that the car is about to blow off, but in a real car you always feel how your rubber holds you. The second difference is that there is no sense of change in the slope of the track, which, in turn, does not allow you to experience such turns as "corkscrew" or "red water".

But all the principles of racing are the same - here you have the same trajectories, the same principles of overtaking, and similar tracks. As a rule, virtual racers quickly adapt to a real car and may well show results comparable to those of professional racers.

Sports coupe Tiburon from the Korean company Hyundai. It is no longer available, however, like its next generation Hyundai Coupe.

Skills gained in games help, but if you want to drive fast on Moscow roads, you will have to calculate the situation in advance. You need to anticipate what the car in front can give out, where it will twitch in a turn, and all that sort of thing. I am currently driving Hyundai Tiburon, and I really like it, however, the bride constantly demands to buy a jeep instead of a coupe!

[Igromania.ru] Thank you for the interview! Not a nail, not a wand to you and all your friends!

[N. Fronts] And thank you for interesting questions. Good luck and success on the road!
