Are you tired of fighting dragons in Minecraft and creating portals to other worlds? Engage in a peaceful life, equip your home, breed livestock, tame animals. The most useful and interesting animal in the game is the horse. But first you need to choose and tame it.

Choosing a horse to tame in Minecraft

The game features 35 varieties of horses of various colors and colors. Decide before taming an animal with its breed. The best are white horses, they jump higher than others. And the light chestnut breed is the fastest. A tamed horse will not change its color. The characteristics of the animal do not depend on color, but on the pedigree. Main varieties:

  • normal horses. They all look the same, but differ in color. Look for lowland biomes, you won't find it anywhere else;
  • zombie horse. You will see this variety only on Halloween, you won’t find them in a regular game;
  • skeleton horse. Also appears on Halloween;
  • trap horse. Available for game versions 1.9 and higher. It looks like an ordinary horse or foal. If you get 10 blocks or closer to it, lightning will appear that will strike the animal. The horse becomes a skeleton rider. Three more similar riders immediately appear, they attack you and move quickly. If you manage to kill the rider, tame the horse.

There are donkeys and mules in the game. Donkeys can be found and tamed like horses. Mules are obtained by crossing donkeys and ordinary horses; you will not meet them in a regular game.

We bring the horse home in Minecraft

Horses in the game move all the time. Try to bring her into your home. It is not necessary to tame a horse in order to bring it home on a leash. But in the future, taming will be needed for breeding animals and riding a horse. Tie the stallion you like to the post with a leash or build a paddock, otherwise the horse will run away.

We tame a horse in Minecraft

There are several ways to tame a horse in the game:

  • feed the horse. Treat her to a carrot, bread, apple, or other treat. The horse will be grateful to you and will want to be friends. After eating a treat, you will see hearts. This means that the horse is tamed;
  • saddle the horse. If you see a horse, walk up and right-click on it. The hands of the game character are free. The horse will begin to kick and throw more than once. Try again and the horse will calm down. Red hearts are a sign of successful taming.

We make a battle horse out of a tamed horse in Minecraft

Turn a tamed horse into a real war horse to take part in battles. To do this, right-click on the animal. A menu will open - choose a saddle and armor. Armor take better diamond. But first, find armor in an abandoned mine, in a dungeon, in desert temples or in the chests of the Infernal fortress. You won't be able to create a saddle either, look in the dungeons. Move the found saddle and armor from your inventory to the inventory menu of the horse.

Learning to ride a tamed horse in Minecraft

You can control a tamed and saddled horse. Control its movements with the keys W, A, S, D. In order for the horse to jump, charge the jumping scale. While doing this, hold down the spacebar. On horseback, you can fight with a sword, go through doors, open chests and place blocks. But don't ride your horse close to the water. The horse is afraid of water and will drop the player if it submerges more than 2 blocks.

The developers have come up with an excellent animation for the horses - the horse rears up, can neigh at the player, wag its tail and pluck the grass. With a faithful horse, you will travel across different lands. There are many varieties of horses in the game - there is even a Pegasus. It is rare, but suddenly luck will smile, and you will become the owner of a fabulous flying horse.

A horse is a Minecraft mob that can be tamed, allows you to ride yourself after mounting a saddle, and can spawn when crossed with other horses.

Prior to update 1.6.1, they were only available in the Mo'Creatures mod, whose creator John Olarte (DrZhark) helped design the horses for the original game to look and act like his mod.

Stallions are generated automatically in Minecraft worlds like pigs, cows or sheep, and only spawn on plains and savannahs. Usually, they graze in a herd, which can consist of at least four horses or donkeys, usually of the same color and pattern.

Horses have good animation: they can rear up, pluck grass, wag their tails and neigh at the player.

Types and their features

There are six main types of horses available in the game in different colors and sizes. They spawn randomly with one of their colors, their running speed, and their jump power (between 1 and 5 blocks in height). Taming a horse does not change its color (as with ocelots), but allows players to equip them with saddles and special horse armor. The 6 main types are described below:

regular horse

There are more than 30 of their suits in the game, differing in the color of the legs, wool, spots on the body and muzzle.

They all look the same, but can come in different colors: white, tan, dark bay, bay, black, dappled gray, and yellow chestnut. They may have no coat markings, may be fiery red, white like the Appaloosa breed, spotted and dark.

Here are some color examples. Can you find a small donkey wormed its way into the herd?

Console command to get an adult stallion:

/summon EntityHorse ~ ~ ~ (Type:0)

Donkey

Donkeys are smaller than regular horses and have longer ears. Grey-brown with darker ankles, ears, manes and tails.

After you tame it, you can hang a chest on the donkey (it will be impossible to remove it, it is attached until the death of the animal). Pick up the chest and right-click on the donkey. This will set up a chest and give you 15 additional inventory slots.

To open an attached chest, right-click on the donkey while holding the "Shift" key.

The donkey cannot be equipped with armor. Through the console, it is called like this:

/summon EntityHorse ~ ~ ~ (Type:1)

Mules

They have donkey-like ears and manes, and a darker red-brown coat.

Mules cannot be found in the game world and cannot be bred, they can only be obtained by crossing ordinary horses and donkeys.

On mules, as well as on donkeys, you can install a chest, but you can’t put on armor.

Mule can be obtained like this:

/summon EntityHorse ~ ~ ~ (Type:2)

This species only spawns on the night before All Saints' Day, Halloween. Previously, at any other time, it was almost impossible to meet them in a regular game - they were available only to developers and mapmakers.

It is said that with the release of Minecraft 1.10, the player can summon these zombies using summon eggs. I tried - nothing happened, only donkeys sometimes appear.

A thoroughbred zombie is easily distinguished by its green skin and black eyes.

If your game version is lower than 1.10, then use the console command (works in versions from 1.7.2 and higher):

/summon EntityHorse ~ ~ ~ (Type:3)

skeleton horse

It is also only available to developers, map makers, and through the console.

Like zombies, the skeleton is absent from the regular game, and only appears on Halloween. You can invoke it with the command:

/summon EntityHorse ~ ~1 ~ (Type:4)

trap horse

She appears in Minecraft version 1.9 and higher during a thunderstorm, and from the outside looks like an ordinary horse or foal. Exactly as long as the player does not come to her 10 blocks or closer. At that moment, lightning will strike her, thunder will be heard, and she will turn into a skeleton rider, and three more of the same riders will appear next to him:

They are armed with an enchanted bow that protects the wearer from damage for 3 seconds from the moment they spawn, and have an iron helmet on their heads.

The probability of such a trap appearing depends on the difficulty level you are playing on:

  • at an easy level: 4–8%;
  • on normal: 8-20%;
  • on difficult: 11–35%.

As soon as the riders appear, they immediately attack the player. Dead Riders move fairly quickly, shoot at the player with their bow, and actively avoid melee. This is not surprising, because if you kill a nezdnik, then the skeleton horse can be tamed and saddled like a normal one!

She is not hostile. Unfortunately, you can’t put horse armor on it - there is simply no such slot in the inventory ...

Console command to call riders:

/summon EntityHorse ~ ~1 ~ (SkeletonTrap:1b)

How to tame a horse

You can only tame adult ordinary horses, donkeys and mules. Foals, skeletons (with the exception of the rider's horse) and zombies cannot be tamed. Once tamed, a horse can be saddled, ridden and equipped with armor, and can be crossbred for breeding.

Taming a horse is not too difficult and does not take much time. In most cases, this can be done with several attempts.

1. Choose your favorite horse

Since they are constantly moving, it may make sense to bring the right one to your home. To lead a horse on a leash, it is not necessary to tame it. However, it is necessary to ride them and crossbreed.

When you find a stallion you like, you can tie it to a pole with a leash or build a fence so that it does not run away. This is not required, but some players will find it useful.

The stallion cannot untie the leash, but it can be broken by left-clicking on the pole to which the leash is tied.

2. Saddle your horse

To tame a wild mount, walk up and right-click to jump on it. She walks for a couple of seconds before bucking and throwing the player off her. Keep mounting it until it stops dropping you and you see red hearts as a sign of successful taming. You can be dumped more than once until everything works out.

As you see such hearts, then the animal is tamed.

If you still can't tame a horse, you can try to feed it with food like sugar, apples and bread. These types of food will increase the likelihood of taming and the growth rate of foals.

Below is a table of the effects of food on stallions and its effect:

3. Installing the saddle

Having tamed a horse, you can saddle it. You can't drive a stallion without a saddle. The same saddles are used as for pigs. They can be found in dungeons, they cannot be created by yourself.

Horses have their own inventory menu, just like the player. While mounted, move the saddle from your inventory to the top left slot.

At the location of the armor slots for the player, the horse has a saddle slot. Below there is another one - it is for horse armor.

4. Put horse armor on the stallion

In addition to the saddle, horses can receive special armor to protect and prepare for battle. Like the saddle, armor cannot be crafted by yourself, but can be found in dungeons, chests in the Infernal Fortress, desert temples, and abandoned mines.

To equip the armor, open the horse's inventory and place the armor in the desired slot. Horse armor has infinite durability and is available in three types - iron, gold and diamond.

Diamond horse armor.

How to breed horses

Having tamed two horses, you can start growing new ones. Breeding them can give a greater variety of their appearance. Also, breeding potentially makes it possible to obtain individuals with greater health, speed and jumping ability. If the available specimens do not have the best parameters, try breeding new ones until you create the perfect horse.

As is the case with other animals in Minecraft, you will need their favorite food to start breeding. For faster activation of the "love mode", you can feed them two types of food: golden apples or golden carrots.

It is enough to give each horse one apple or carrot to activate the breeding mode. Other food will not cause them to breed.

Golden Carrots are crafted with Carrots and Gold Nuggets at a workbench.

Golden apples are crafted using an apple and gold ingots.

The color and patterns of the foal depend on the parents. As in reality, mules cannot be bred to make new mules; the only way to get them is to cross an ordinary horse and a donkey.

After being born, after about 20 minutes, the foal turns into an adult. Until then, it cannot be tamed or ridden. The growth process can be accelerated by their favorite food (shown in the table above). Foals are more clumsy than adult horses, with longer legs and thinner bodies.

Accidentally hitting a horse or foal does not make them aggressive, and tamed individuals remain tamed. But trauma takes away some of their health.

How to ride a horse

Climbing up tamed and saddled horse, you can control its movements with the keys W, A, S, D. They run fast, but some are faster than others. To make her jump, you need to charge the jump gauge by holding the space bar. As we said above, jumping ability is different for different individuals.

The saddle makes it possible to control the horse. You can ride in any direction and make the horse jump. The animal can't do anything else.

While mounted, you can use any item, open chests, go through doors, use crafting tables, etc. You can fight with a sword or bow, you can even place blocks.

You can sit on a tamed horse indefinitely. However, you should not come close to water on it, they do not like it and drop the player when diving more than two blocks.

From recent versions minecraft the first were added to the game controllable mounts - horses!

But as you probably already understood, in minecraft everything is not so simple. In order to be able to control the horse, we need to start taming it.
Taming a horse is quite simple, for this we don’t need anything, we just need to sit on it with the right mouse button several times until the horse is tamed. How to understand that the horse is now at your disposal? Everything is very simple! Hearts will appear above it and above you and the horse will stop dropping you.
Now we can safely sit on the horse and also open its interface.
Further we need a saddle. In order to control the horse, we need to put a saddle on it.
The saddle can be found in caves, treasuries or fortresses, which are generated in the minecraft world.
In order to saddle our horse, we open the interface and put a saddle on the horse.
Ready!
Now you can control the horse.
You can also put armor on your horse. Iron, gold or diamond! You decide!

Horse Interface View:

While sitting on a horse, you can hold and use tools and weapons! Which is very convenient with increased speed of movement.

0.15.0, as many people know, horses, donkeys and mules were added, which you can tame, so that you can ride them later! This is very useful for traveling in the game world. And since many do not know how to tame a horse and ride it, we decided to make this small guide =)

Domestication of a horse

First you will need to find the horse itself. To do this, I think it will not be difficult, because it can be found in the Plains and Savannah biome. Then you need to get closer to her and sit on her, but note that you will not be able to tame her the first time, so we advise you to feed her with apples or wheat before that, and then try to sit on her again to tame her. This may take several attempts.

If you manage to tame her, then particles of hearts will appear near her and she will not try to "throw" you anymore.

You can also put armor on a tamed horse: leather, iron, gold or diamond. At the same time, you can only craft leather armor in the workbench, other types can be found in treasure chests, etc.

To put on the armor you need to open the interface of the horse (hold it for a long time or press the "open" button). In the interface just below the horse saddle slot, you should see it as an armor slot.

Now just click on the piece of armor and it will automatically be in the right slot and the armor will appear on the horse.

You can also attach a chest to a mule or donkey by pinching it with your finger with the chest in your hand.

Remember that after that you will not be able to remove the chest and it is almost 2 times smaller than the inventory of a small chest, but still very useful.

To open its interface, you just need to sit on a horse and click on the " open". The horse interface will open, in which the chest icon will appear. You can put any "junk" there.

Horse riding

The horse's parameters (speed, jump height and health) do not depend on its color, but depend on the pedigree. Horses and donkeys can jump over the fence.

To ride a horse, you just need to sit on it and control it like a normal character, using the control buttons.

You can even jump on it by simply pressing the jump button. The horse can jump over two blocks high, which is very useful!

And to get off the horse, you just need to double-click on the crouch button on the right side of the screen.

Painting horse armor

To paint horse armor, you will need leather horse armor (craft it a little higher). Get a cauldron and place it anywhere you like, then tap it with a bucket of water.

Now tap on this water cauldron with one of any dyes (you can also mix colors), after which the water in the cauldron will be recolored.

It remains only to tap the horse armor itself and it will immediately be repainted in the desired color.

To put on armor you need to open the horse interface and put the item in a special slot by simply clicking on it.

Your horse will immediately take on a new look and become even more beautiful =)

To breed, you need to feed the tamed horses with any golden apples (both simple and enhanced) or golden carrots. When breeding from horses, it may be necessary to remove the saddle and armor from them. Donkeys and horses can be crossed to form a mule. Mules cannot be bred.

Foals cannot be saddled or equipped with armor or a saddle. They can be grown by feeding wheat, apples, sugar or hay bales.

The offspring may have better characteristics than the parents, such as higher maximum health. When breeding tamed horses, the subsequently grown offspring must be tamed.

Horses can be healed with food. In addition, food accelerates the growth of the horse (if it is a foal). Undead horses cannot be fed or raised, even if they are spawned.

Note: A newborn horse grows into an adult in 20 minutes.

Advice: If you want your horse to grow faster, it's better to feed him one wheat at a time than to give him a sheaf of hay all at once.

In the game, as well as in the PC version, there are these types of horses, which unfortunately cannot be found in the world and cannot be tamed. This can only be done using commands that are not in the game or mods.

  • Throwing an Explosive Enhanced Speed Potion at a horse will cause the horse to move faster than flying in creative mode.
  • Horses are the only friendly mobs that can have more health than the player.
  • The Skeleton Horse, Zombie Horse, and Rider Horse are related to the undead, as are zombies and skeletons. However, if the instant heal potion has a negative effect on zombies and skeletons, then it is positive on the undead horse. Also, undead horses are attacked by a wither.

Advantages:

  • Can ride
  • Gives skin (from this skin you can craft horse armor, some kind of livelihood :/)
  • Runs fast and jumps high
  • Easy to feed

Flaws:

  • Quite rare to find
  • Need a saddle and armor
  • Difficult to breed
  • Resets if it enters deep water

The horse in the Minecraft game is a special mob that is used mainly as a means of transportation. This animal appears very rarely, so many people think about where to find a horse.

Looking for a horse

Mostly horses spawn in a flat or savannah biome. If you want to find a horse, then you need to fly over the plains and look. They spawn mostly 2-6 mobs at a time.

Horses are summoned using special spawn eggs or the /summon EntityHorse command.

horse breeding

For breeding horses, golden apples or carrots are used as complementary foods. If you want to use the growing offspring for your own purposes, then it will need to be tamed again, and only after it grows up, put on a saddle and ride. In order for the foal to turn into a horse, you should not immediately give a haystack, it is better to feed one wheat stalk at a time. The transformation time from a newborn horse to a mature horse is about 25 minutes.

Possibilities of horses

If we talk about the capabilities of horses, then they can:

  • move the rider;
  • rear up;
  • show your dissatisfaction
  • eat grass;
  • move the tail and head;
  • swim.

Note

  1. A mule can be made from a horse and a donkey, but they cannot be propagated.
  2. The horse's health can exceed the player's health.
  3. Foals can get stuck in the wall and suffocate.
  4. If the player is on a horse, then he cannot harm it.
  5. If the horse is killed, then the skin will fall out of it, which can be used later.
  6. If, while on a horse, you fall into the water to a great depth, then the mob will throw you off.
  7. To move on a horse, you need a saddle and armor.
