Agree, it is a pity to spend precious time in the mountains learning the first skills of skiing or snowboarding! Of course, it is very beautiful in the mountains, you are on vacation, but it is better to master the simplest movements in advance. And just spending time on the slope in the evening or on weekends is also cool. Therefore, we will tell you where this can be done in Moscow or not far from it.

Within the Moscow Ring Road there are several slopes equipped with lifts. Of course, first of all, it makes sense to go to the slope closest to the house: you will spend a minimum of time on the road, and if it’s good there, then why not spend time there?

And although Volen lags behind its neighbors in terms of the length of the slopes, which does not exceed 400 meters, the park management manages to find new solutions to attract skiers and snowboarders to its slopes. This subsidiary project of the Volen park was opened near the village of Stepanovo in 2000. The natural slope with a roll-out to the Volgusha River was raised even more, adding imported soil. The result was a slope 1 kilometer long and a height difference of 110 meters. This figure is the highest in the Moscow region. Stepanovskiye slopes are most loved by snowboarders.

On the main slope there is a track with several steep drop-offs 900 meters long and a drop of 110 meters, and the second, simpler one, 850 meters long, runs along the cable car. On the central slope there is a 700-meter long steep drop track. On the Strekovsky slope there are two simple tracks 550 and 580 meters long and with a difference of 50 meters.

The slopes are serviced by three chair lifts. One of them, a domestic double-seat, is rather old and very slow. The other two are more modern and faster. They usually descend along it from the village of Strekovo, where you can drive up to Stepanovo by car.

Fans of skiing, snowboarding and secluded slopes often prefer Stepanovo to other, more crowded resorts. It is quiet here and there are relatively few people on the slope, which allows you to feel closer to nature and makes it possible to forget about the bustle of the city.

There is a two-story building near the top lift station, which houses changing rooms, rental, ski service, luggage storage, and a toilet.

With a relatively small slope (no more than 28%), you can accelerate to high speeds which athletes use in training.

High-speed Austrian lifts, even when the slope is fully loaded, do not allow queues to form. The slope with a width of 60 meters allows several hundred skiers and snowboarders to ski at the same time. The total capacity of the complex, including changing rooms, rentals and cafes, is 800 people.

Children go to school!

Started enrollment in children's ski schools

“Prepare your skis in the summer” applies to the greatest extent not so much to the skis themselves and other equipment, but to skiers. Especially the young ones. All the best Moscow ski schools started enrolling in groups already in September, and now the first trainings are taking place. So if you want to see your child skiing/snowboarding this season, it is by no means necessary to wait for the first snow.

“Snowless” training in almost all respected institutions includes roller skates, OFP (ball, jumps, ropes and other exercises), in some schools - a trampoline and a bicycle.

For the first lessons, it is not necessary to buy the entire set of equipment, you can rent it until it becomes clear that the sport you have chosen will “go” with your child.

What you will most likely have to fork out for is a helmet (for those who are not too familiar with the details - helmets are different for skates and skis). The price of a new roller (bicycle) helmet is 900-1500 rubles. You can not do without a set of protection - it is sold in any decent sports store. An attempt to save money and buy inexpensive protection usually ends with the fact that after 4-5 sessions you have to buy a new one - the handhelds fall apart first, then other parts suffer. The average cost of a children's kit that will last longer than 1 month is from 1100 rubles. For gentle and whiny persons, protective shorts are very relevant for the first lessons on roller skates (from 450 rubles)

Even if the sports school does not require a mandatory certificate from a doctor, be sure to consult a pediatrician and / or surgeon: for certain orthopedic problems skiing and videos are not shown.

Of the Moscow sports schools, we interviewed three of the most famous and popular: Kant, the CSKA Ski School and the Stolitsa National School of Sports.

SKI SCHOOL CSKA

A school known for its good level of teaching and of course its principal. The head of the CSKA Ski Base, Sergey Petrik, is a master of sports of international class, ten-time and the last champion of the USSR, winner of the European Championships, a wonderful coach (by the way, with a higher pedagogical and legal education). Both the children's school and the slope itself have been successfully developing and developing on his experience and authority for many years. This year, children from 5 years old are accepted to the school, for preschoolers, training takes place in the morning (Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Friday, from 10.00 to 11.30), schoolchildren train three times a week after school. In the off-season, one lesson is general physical training (on the street or in a sports / gym, coordination exercises, “classics”, jump ropes, etc.), another one is roller skates.

For admission to the school, you need to bring a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the insurance policy, a certificate from the doctor that the child can go in for skiing and 1 photo. Subscription price for the whole season (from September to May) - 8000 rubles, payment of 50% is possible with the subsequent payment of the balance of the amount until December. If two children attend the school at once, there are discounts.

Pros:

  • Pleasant, almost homely, chamber atmosphere - both in the groups themselves and in the whole school;
  • small groups and strong level teaching;
  • Classes are held in a forest, ecologically clean area, in the Filevsky Park area, next to the Moscow River;
  • Several times a year the school travels to sports camps and competitions;
  • Good preparation of the slopes (2 snowcats, 2 lifts), during training, the entrance of outsiders is limited;
  • Affordable prices.

Minuses:

  • Classes are held on weekdays, respectively, preschoolers have to skip classes in the garden or preparation for school (for older groups, classes are held in the afternoon);
  • The number of coaches is limited: if your child does not "get along with the character" with the teacher, you will have to change schools.
  • They teach only alpine skiing and rollerblading, they don’t teach how to ride snowboards and skateboards.

Coordinates: Tel. 415 4015, Rublevskoe shosse, 24, metro: "Molodezhnaya," Krylatskoe ".

How to get there: from Rublevsky highway (from the center) turn right between the "Hedgehog" store and the "Evrokhimchistka" building, then straight ahead to the fence and to the right, go parallel to the Moskva River.

In order to become a professional, and most importantly, a successful snowboarder, you need to determine whether you are ready for this. Staale Sandbeh, silver medalist in slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Olympics and 2010 World Junior Champion, identified three criteria that can help answer this question. You need to determine for yourself whether you are ready to spend four hours every day for ten years only on training? This requires not only the desire to practice, but also to have strength and endurance, as well as patience.

Our reflection is in our friends. It is much easier to do what you love when there are like-minded people. Snowboarding should grow from just a hobby into the meaning of life, you should become like Victor Wilde. By the way, this is the only double Olympic champion in snowboarding, which earned two gold medals at the same Games. According to Staale, the main task of a coach is to plan and organize, and it is the task of the riders to help each other develop. The third criterion is whether you are able to get real pleasure from your work. Snowboarding, in the professional sense, should be part of your life.

The first step on the way to professionalism is the snowboarding school. Today there are quite a few of them. It is necessary to choose the school in which the chosen discipline is taught, whether it be parallel slalom, board cross and others. Groups are formed according to the age of the students. Initial training starts at the age of five. Educational and training groups are formed for teenagers and adults, as well as sports improvement classes.

It is important that the snowboard school has a well-designed program that should include various exercises such as running, trampoline, jumping, skate, power loads. A snowboarder must have developed muscles and excellent endurance, which requires different types workouts.

In Russia there are several good schools. One of them is Proboard. Its main focus is Olympic snowboarding. Children are accepted there from the age of eight years. School students show good results, are members of the teams of the city of Moscow and Russia. Trainings are held not only in winter, but also in summer. Conducted training trips to the mountains not only in Russia but also in Europe. In summer, trampoline classes are held, outdoor games, roller skating and cycling and other types of exercises are held.

IN sports camps training sessions are taking place. In the summer of 2014, for example, it was held in Lithuania. Many Russian snowboarders are students of this school. Among them are Ekaterina Khatomchenkova, who took third place at the World Championship in parallel slalom, as well as Russian snowboarder Konstantin Shipilov, silver medalist in parallel giant slalom. Undoubtedly, the graduates of this school have something to brag about.

Snowboarding at the Olympics attracts a lot of attention. This popular view sports not only among children and youth. Here, in order to succeed, you need to be the best snowboarder. Another snowboarding sports school, SmartSnow, can provide such an opportunity. Here, training takes place according to the Austrian program, which is divided into three levels, depending on the complexity. Primary and basic will allow you to master basic technique skiing, an advanced level will provide an opportunity to learn different types of snowboarding, such as freeride, skiing on slopes and others. According to the official website of the school, its instructors have undergone special training, which is confirmed by the relevant certificates.

For a snowboarder, probably the highest sporting award is an Olympic gold medal. In 2014, the Russian team achieved particular success. Not only American-born Russian snowboarder Victor Wild made his contribution, but also Nikolai Olyulin, a silver medalist in snowboard cross.

Those who are worth looking up to

Considering that the Russian national team includes graduates of Russian schools, we can confidently speak about the effectiveness of the classes. Snowboarding at school will provide the conditions for self-improvement, which is required not only for beginners, but also for accomplished athletes. For example, Victor Wilde. Despite the fact that from 2000 to 2011 the United States team was his home, his first Olympic medal, and then he received the second only in 2014 at the Games in Sochi, representing Russia. Only hard training allowed to provide such an excellent result.

Snowboarding in Russia is known not only thanks to our athletes. Team USA also contributed, namely Seth Wescott, who earned two gold medals in 2006 in Turin and in 2010 in Vancouver. He tried various sports and ended up doing right choice. Native of North Carolina, three-time winner silver medal in boardercross at the world championships, as well as a gold medalist in 2005. In many ways, he owes his achievements to the Carrabassett Valley sports academy, where not only Seth trained, but also his teammates.

Snowboarding is common not only among men, but also among women. The women's team boasts Natalia Soboleva. Most recently, this athlete became the best among juniors, having won a gold medal in the parallel giant slalom at the world championship, which was held in Yabuli (China). Prior to this, the athlete received gold in the parallel slalom. By the way, this is already the fourth champion title of Natalia among juniors. Even Victor Wild, who did an excellent job at the 2014 Olympics, would be envious.

Different kinds and directions of snowboarding give freedom of choice to a novice athlete. The most suitable discipline can be chosen based on personal preferences, physical abilities, as well as an innate predisposition to one of them. In any case, success will depend solely on the desire to become the best.
