The players take the “rider” position, that is, their legs are spread wider than their shoulders and bent in such a way that a fold is formed between the legs, in the middle of the skirt, into which a ping-pong ball is placed. If this fold is sharply pulled by the corners with both hands at the same time, the ball will fly up and forward.

The first day of the “Astrakhan Cup-2018” in volleyball
On September 9, the first stage of the “Astrakhan Cup - 2018” in volleyball among men’s teams was held at the AGASU sports ground. The tournament is held by the Astrakhan Volleyball League. These competitions marked the start of the new volleyball season 2018\19.
On the first day, four pairs of participants met on the site. The brightest was final match the first stage of the tournament, which took place between the teams “Real” and “Vympel”. Both teams are considered leaders in the Astrakhan volleyball arena. That's why the fight turned out to be impressive. The score in the third game almost exceeded the 30 point mark.

In the other three matches, the leaders were determined unconditionally. Three games ended with results of 3:0. Due to the fact that the tournament is held according to the Olympic system, that is, elimination, the lower half of the tournament table has already been determined. Yesterday the first games of the Seventh open volleyball tournament among men's teams “Astrakhan Cup 2018”, dedicated to the 460th anniversary of the formation of the city of Astrakhan, took place. Today, the Astrakhan Cup 2018 volleyball matches start at the sports ground of the Astrakhan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. These competitions marked the beginning of the new volleyball season 2018/19.
On the last day of team registration, six more teams submitted applications for participation. A total of 11 men's teams will compete in the cup - to date this is a record for the Astrakhan Volleyball League. The last Astrakhan Cup brought together only five teams on its site. But even then the competition turned out to be spectacular.
The large number of participants this year is due to the fact that the League abolished team fees. This time, all expenses associated with organizing the competition were borne by the sponsors. Therefore, sports teams do not pay anything for their participation.

Astrakhan volleyball players at a low start
Astrakhan volleyball players have decided on the date for the open tournament among men’s teams “Astrakhan Cup 2018”. The competition will take place on Sunday, September 9. This was reported by the regional volleyball league. The tournament will kick off the new sports season 2018\19.
On September 9, the tournament will begin at the sports ground of the Astrakhan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Matches will be played on Sundays, presumably until the end of the month. To date, five teams have applied to participate.
Team registration ends tomorrow, September 7th. The next day, Saturday, the Astrakhan Volleyball League will hold a draw for participants, where pairs will be determined for the first round. The tournament itself will be held according to the Olympic system, that is, elimination. And for the first time, the organizers do not collect team fees from the participants.

3.1. The general management of the competition is carried out by the tournament organizing committee

4.1. To participate in the competition, the team submits an application (Appendix No. 1) and pays the entry fee. When submitting an application, the team, represented by the applicant, fully agrees with the terms of the tournament. The procedure for submitting entry fees will be announced separately.
4.2. Teams of physical education groups, enterprises, firms, institutions and educational institutions, youth sports schools, teams created at the place of residence of the participants, as well as all interested teams who have submitted applications for participation in the tournament in a timely manner are allowed to participate in the tournament.
4.3. In case of any controversial situations related to the submission of applications, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to decide on the participation of certain teams
4.4. During the tournament, only the players specified in the team’s application can take part in games as part of teams. If violations of this clause are detected, the team will be considered defeated in all matches in which the unregistered participant played.
4.5. Before the start of the tournament, teams can make changes to their applications by officially notifying the organizing committee.
4.6. Competition participants bear responsibility for their lives and health independently.
4.7. Team leaders are responsible for the life and health of tournament participants, ensuring order and discipline, fire safety rules for team members and the safety of participants’ property. - Player admission
5.1. Teams with players at least 16 years of age are allowed to participate in the championship. There is no upper limit on the age of players
5.2. Each player at competitions is required to have a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
5.3. Players under 18 years of age must provide a statement from their parents before the start of the games (Appendix No. 2). If these documents are not provided, the player is not allowed to play. - Conditions of the competition
6.1. The rules for holding matches comply with the current volleyball rules. A separate deviation from the official volleyball rules related to the amateur status of the competition is allowed.
6.2. The competition consists of a group stage, where all teams take part, and a playoff stage, in which the teams finishing in best places in groups. The exact scheme will be determined after the deadline for accepting applications. - Awards
7.1. The winners and runners-up of the tournament are awarded cups, medals and certificates.
7.2. The organizing committee and partners of the tournament reserve the right to establish additional and special prizes for participants and winners. - Financing
8.1. Expenses associated with organizing competitions and awarding winners are covered from the teams' organizational fees, as well as from the funds of the tournament partners (if any).
