The Far Eastern International Sports Festival of Students “New Generation - 2017” opened yesterday in Khabarovsk. 37 of the strongest teams from leading universities in China take part in it, North Korea, Japan, Tajikistan and the Russian Far East. The competition will take place over several days and end on September 24.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government - Minister of Culture Alexander Fedosov, as well as 10 champions and prize-winners Olympic Games, world record holders, authoritative experts and mentors in sports, specialists in the field of sports marketing, business, science, psychology and PR.

“This large-scale and vibrant event will serve as a powerful impetus for the further development of student sports not only in the Far East, but also in Russia. Participation in the festival will give you the opportunity to communicate, gain new impressions and knowledge, charge emotions and exchange experiences. I wish the athletes high achievements in a fair fight, well-deserved victories and academic success, the judges - objectivity and impartiality, and the spectators - bright, spectacular competitions,” said Alexander Fedosov.

This year, in addition to sporting events, the organizers prepared an extensive educational program for participants. It includes holding a scientific and practical conference, meetings and communication with government officials and Olympic champions, sessions on management, psychology, pharmacology and PR, master classes from champions and record holders in the festival sports.

Far Eastern Sports Festival of Students "NEW GENERATION-2017" is a forum of modern youth sports culture, in which teams from universities in the Far Eastern region take part federal district(FEFD) and universities in Asian countries. It is dedicated to the International University Sports Day established by UNESCO and FISU - September 20. The initiators of the Festival were the Council of Rectors of Universities of the Far Eastern Federal District and regional sports federations. The idea of holding the festival was supported by the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory, the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District and the RSSS.
This is the 2nd “NEW GENERATION” forum in Khabarovsk. We held the first one in 2015, bringing together 24 teams (450 participants) in the main festival program: 13 teams from Far Eastern universities (all regions of the Far Eastern Federal District), 8 teams from the PRC, one team each from Japan and the DPRK. And in sports events More than 5 thousand people took part in the first festival. Our 2015 forum served as an example for holding similar festivals in other cities of Russia.
The festival "NEW GENERATION-2017" will be held from September 20 to 24, 2017 in the city of Khabarovsk. It includes:
1. Sports program:
1.1. Competitions in sports (teams from universities in the Far Eastern Federal District and universities in Asian countries): football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming, judo, powerlifting, cyber-sports;

Goals

  1. Prepare and hold the Far Eastern Sports Festival of Students “NEW GENERATION-2017” from September 20 to September 24, 2017.

Tasks

  1. 1. Organize information support for the festival.
  2. 2. Provide the festival with the necessary resources and venues for holding its events.
  3. 3. Ensure the participation of teams from universities in the Far Eastern Federal District and Asian countries in the festival.
  4. 4. Provide free access to festival events for spectators and listeners.

Justification of social significance

Our festival solves some of the problems outlined in Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 13 of January 16, 2017.
Today, the population of the Far Eastern Federal District feels disconnected from the rest of the country.
The vast majority of major social events take place in the European part of Russia. Individuals are valuable carriers of knowledge, who have something to learn from, adopt experience and recharge with positive energy, who are also there. The vast majority of the population of the Far Eastern Federal District does not have the opportunity to visit the European part of the country quite often (more than once a year or more).
Added to this problem is the very low population density of the territory itself. The area of the Far Eastern Federal District (1/3 of the country) is home to 6.3 million people, i.e. 4.5% of the total population of the Russian Federation. The enormous distances between settlements in the district and the cost of logistics make live communication between people, even within the district, problematic. At the same time, the perception of the world among the current generation of young people has changed.
Today's youth strive to be in the flow interesting events and interesting people. But the territory does not give them such a flow, as a result, the most pressing social problems for the Far East are: the outflow of population from the territory and the development of human capital. Those who lose faith in the territory leave, and those who remain “stew in their own juice” without receiving the opportunities for communication and development that exist in the European part of the country. At the same time, the Far Eastern Federal District has such powerful cultures as Japan, Korea and, of course, China nearby.
In this combination of various factors and circumstances, holding a sports festival in Khabarovsk for students from universities in the Far Eastern Federal District and Asian countries is ideal for solving the above-mentioned social problems. Sports are the most popular hobby among young people after social networks. It is much easier and cheaper for Far Eastern Federal District teams to get to Khabarovsk than to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan or even Novosibirsk. And invite a pool of mentors, mentors and Olympic champions this is already easier. Teams from Asian universities are happy to come for sports practice and communication with our students. Thus, in the capital of the Russian Far East, we are organizing a major sporting event for youth and students of the Far Eastern Federal District with the participation of sports stars, famous mentors and foreign teams.
Our first festival in 2015 served as an example for replication in other cities and regions of Russia. This means that we have chosen the right direction and this direction needs to be developed and supported.
