Gorky Park, with the support of Nike, is creating a fundamentally new type of running club in Moscow, where everything - from routes and infrastructure to pleasant company and a varied training program - is thought out to the smallest detail. By creating a running club, Gorky Park sought to bring to life one simple idea: running is the joy of free movement in a beautiful place. And if you can run in a great company with interesting people, get advice from coaches and use convenient infrastructure for athletes, running becomes a great pleasure.

The running program is designed for all ages and levels of training, but primarily for those who have always dreamed of running, but did not dare various reasons. Now there are no such reasons left. Starting May 1st, runners can use- the most beautiful embankment of the city, in a couple of weeks the infrastructure with changing rooms, showers, drinking fountains and cafes will be finally completed, there will also be a personally developed training program, a motivation system and excellent company. The running club in Gorky Park will be headed by Alexandra Boyarskaya-Waitt, a famous journalist and one of the new apologists for the running movement in Moscow (pictured below).

“There are moments of simple, very pure joy while running - when suddenly you get a second wind; when you turn and see the sunset across the entire sky; or you are washed by a cool wind with the smells of the park, grass, leaves; when someone runs towards you and gives you a thumbs up and smiles; when, instead of the two kilometers you set for yourself, you manage to run three, or instead of five, ten, or even a half-marathon distance. At this moment you stop worrying that something is not working out. A simple fact that can become a discovery: after a half-hour run, the chances and strength to do something impossible - or what seemed impossible - are much greater. All these points cost more than a pair of sneakers. Moscow is a very beautiful city, and, oddly enough, it is much easier to see it while jogging along the embankment in Gorky Park. Just try it."

So, the center of the running club will be the pavilion on Pushkinskaya Embankment in Gorky Park, where you can sign up for the club, get advice and full information about the programs, as well as use the locker room and showers. There are several routes on the territory of the Park for different levels preparation. There are drinking fountains along each route. In addition, each club member receives a membership card. Running programs were created with the assistance of Nike and are designed for different fitness levels. All participants will be able to receive consultations and advice from a team of professional trainers. A schedule of morning and evening races is drawn up for club members, which will allow everyone to choose the optimal schedule. Participation in the club – free.

“What do we do in training? Each lesson is structured slightly differently. We always run - but for different distances and for different purposes. Now I’ll tell you about this week, for example. In Tuesday We will rather run for a distance and jump. Jumping is also very useful). IN Thursdayspeed-strength training and relay races. Oh yes. If you think you're being forced into a gym class you really disliked, well, maybe there are some similarities. But I grew out of prejudice; more precisely, they dissipated themselves when I realized that conditionally voluntary participation in rather ridiculous, seemingly, activities incredibly increases self-esteem and greatly helps to relax and throw any complexes and nonsense out of my head. IN Friday— cross-country training and real physical education with general physical training (I love this term). IN Saturday— fartlek 3-5 km and stretching (fartlek is a workout with variable running speed, and stretching is, as you understand, stretching exercises). IN Sunday- jogging (sorry, this is jogging, it’s just what we call it in the schedule) and jumping in place. Jumping in place is fun. At school, during lessons, we sometimes jumped on the spot before tests so that our heads could work better.”
Currently, the training schedule in Gorky Park is as follows: : Tue, Thu and Fri 20:00, Sat-Sun 12:00. Every day when the training takes place, two trainers work, one takes a more seriously prepared group, the second takes beginners.

Thanks to the developed training system, participants will be able to gradually move to more advanced levels. Gorky Park and Nike will reward such victories with valuable prizes: T-shirts, sneakers, and sports accessories. In the fall, all club members will run a big race to mark the end of the season.

Note: Alexandra Boyarskaya-Waitt. Journalist and actress. Having started running in London parks, I decided not to limit this hobby to the paths of one city - and started a blog about running, in which I talked in detail about preparing for the half marathon in San Francisco. After the race, I decided to develop running in Moscow. Alexandra will spend the entire summer of 2012 in Gorky Park, together with Nike trainers, telling and showing everyone how and why they need to start running.

How to find: Gorky Central Park of Culture and Culture, From the main entrance - straight and after the fountain to the right. Orange pavilion with volleyball courts(there is also a cafe “Bulka”) with the inscription “ Sports center” on Service Alley - to put it simply, this is the alley closest to the embankment, and the pavilion is located right next to the carousel. If you get lost, call Alexandra 8-967-266-5583.

Running is getting more and more popular view sports This is not surprising, given the minimal financial and time costs, running is a luxury that everyone can afford. People who run regularly live an average of three years longer than those who don't run. Scientists from the University of Iowa came to this conclusion. The best part is that you don’t have to do grueling ten-kilometer runs every day to achieve this effect. It is enough to run for at least 10-15 minutes at low speed. The main thing is that jogging be regular; only compliance with this condition guarantees getting the maximum benefit from the exercise.

Many people realize the importance of running for health, but something always prevents them from starting to play sports. As a rule, the majority doubt their own abilities, they are embarrassed by the lack of proper sports training, and most importantly, the lack of good company. But all this can be fixed, because there is a place where they have been waiting for you for a long time!

In the very center of Moscow, in Gorky Park, the Nike Plus running club operates daily. Here, professional trainers conduct group classes with both beginners and experienced runners. Before the start of training, beginners are explained running techniques and taught proper breathing, answer all your questions. Each lesson is led by experienced trainer, observing the condition of each participant during a run. Depending on physical training club members are engaged in different groups: for beginners, middle group and marathon runners. The training is designed in such a way that everyone receives loads of the level that suits them and does not cause discomfort. The goal of training is different for everyone: for some it is the Run Moscow race in October for 5 or 10 kilometers, for others it is a half marathon, for others they will simply understand how to get off the couch and run a given distance without stopping. The club does not have any standards that must be passed, but enthusiasts who take part in races and other sports events are actively encouraged.

On the territory of the Gorky Park there are several routes for different levels of training. There are drinking fountains along each route, so it is not necessary to bring water with you. The Nike+ Running Club also has changing rooms and lockers. Before training, each member of the running club can receive a locker key and leave their belongings for the duration of the run. Thus, the club management takes all measures to ensure maximum comfort for class participants.

We managed to talk with Nike+ club member Victoria.

Tell us about how you ended up in the club?

My story is different from many others I have heard. One evening I went for a run. There was a beautiful sunset, I couldn’t resist taking a photo of it as a souvenir, and then posted it on Instagram, indicating the location. After my run, I came home and decided to find out if there were any other people jogging in my area. IN social networks My attention was attracted by a girl who, as it turned out later, was the administrator of the club. All the runners have very beautiful photographs, so I looked at her photo with interest, then went to the profiles of her friends. That’s how I came across the news about the opening of the Nike+ Running Club in Gorky Park.

How long have you been a member of the club?

What are your first impressions of the classes?

At first I mixed up the groups and my first lesson took place in the strongest run, the participants of which were preparing for the marathon. Naturally, the next morning my whole body ached, I could barely get myself out of bed. But even after such a test, my desire to run did not disappear, but on the contrary, the first run strengthened my character. As for the atmosphere in the club, I can say that it is the most pleasant place I have ever been to. Wonderful people work in our club, training is fun, and after classes you don’t even want to go home.

Is the club free of charge?

Yes, classes at the club are absolutely free. Moreover, sometimes we are also given fruit and water after training.

Were there any funny incidents or interesting acquaintances associated with the club?

Runners are very interesting, positive, open people. Each training session gave me the opportunity to meet some wonderful person. Sometimes you meet before the start of the race, and sometimes while running.

Now I remember one bright moment for me associated with the running club. During one of the initial classes, a girl was running next to me; she could barely keep up with the others. Well, I was in about the same shape then. She and I decided to help each other overcome the distance - we began to run and shout motivational phrases throughout the embankment. So we arrived, tired but happy! Running gives you an incredible positive attitude. It’s paradoxical, but after a workout, there is even more energy than there was before the workout!

Have you made friends from the club with whom you communicate not only during classes, but also in your free time?

Yes, sure. For example, today I went to visit the administrators of a running club, then I met a friend and we went for a walk in the center of Moscow. The club gave me many interesting acquaintances, my horizons expanded significantly. It's nice to feel part of such a cool place as the Nike+ club. I recommend this club to everyone. Come visit us, you will definitely like it!

Thank you, Victoria. It was very nice to chat!

In addition to all the above advantages of the Nike Plus running club, it is worth noting that the club operates free of charge, which means that you can run here absolutely free. The goal of the Nike+ running club is to increase the athletic tone of the population, attracting everyone more people to the right one, healthy image life. To participate in jogging you do not need anything other than good mood and a positive attitude towards a pleasant pastime. After just a few classes, your body will thank you, your phone book will be replenished with new numbers, and your self-esteem will increase dramatically. You won’t notice how you yourself will actively invite friends and acquaintances to train. It is worth noting that the age of club members is absolutely unlimited. Nike+ involves both young people and older people who care about their health and keep themselves in shape.

On winter period The running club in Gorky Park is closing. The last run will take place on September 30, but this does not mean that classes are stopped - the club is simply changing its location. Classes are moved to Fili Park and Tagansky Park. From October, training will take place in these two parks. Everyone who wants to receive additional information about the activities of the club, as well as find out the training schedule, can go to the official page of the group on VKontakte.
