Olympics 2018: results. The will of our athletes was our flag

On February 25, the most intense and scandalous events for Russian athletes Olympic Games. Our athletes won two gold medals: victory in women's singles figure skating Alina Zagitova won, and literally before the closing of the Games, our youth team snatched victory in men’s hockey from the Germans.

Based on the results medal standings The Norwegian team took first place at the Olympic Games 2018(14 gold, 14 silver, 11 bronze awards). The Norwegians also updated the record for the number of medals within one Winter Games. Second position for the German team (14, 10, 7), the third are Canadians(11, 8, 10). We are in 13th place.

In Pyeongchang, our athletes performed under Olympic flag due to the fact that the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee disqualified the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). Only “clean” ones were able to take part in the Olympics Russian athletes, who were selected by a special IOC commission. All our famous and experienced athletes were not admitted to the 2018 Olympic Games. Yesterday's juniors went to Pyeongchang - our young generation and their will to win was our flag.

Even at the closing of the 2018 Olympics, the flag was not returned to our athletes; they had to march again under the Olympic banner. The reason for this decision is two doping scandals with Russians - meldonium was found in the 2018 Olympics bronze medalist Alexander Krushelnitsky, and another prohibited drug was found in bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva.

If not for the doping scandal, Russia would have one more bronze: in curling, double mixed doubles Russians Alexander Krushelnitsky and Anastasia Bryzgalova did not make it to the final due to one mistake, but were able to win bronze, beating the Norwegians in the match for third place. However, the medal soon had to be given back. Krushelnitsky passed a positive doping test; meldonium was found in his body. Bronze medal our curlers were deprived of it, giving it to the Norwegians.

The next Winter Olympics will take place in 2022 in Beijing.

At the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, the medal tally of the Russian team was replenished with two awards. Thanks to the gold of our bobsledders and the bronze of our figure skaters (dancing), Russia rose to second place in the table of the team medal standings at Sochi 2014.

The Sochi 2014 medal standings are now still led by the German team. The day before, the German team became first in the final team competitions in ski jumping. Thus, the German team now has 13 medals, 8 of them are of the highest standard.

The national teams of Russia and the USA had the most medals of various types; Russia rose to second place in the medal standings based on the results of the completed day of competition.

The Russian team rose to second place in the unofficial team competition at the Olympic Games in Sochi thanks to the success of Russian bobsledders Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda. Our bobsledders showed best result in two-man competitions based on the sum of four attempts. Another Russian crew, Alexander Kasyanov/Maxim Belugin, fell just short of bronze, showing the fourth overall result.
