The rows of empty years clearly reveal the method of compiling a code from the listed sources. In the arrangement of the collected chronicle material, the compiler was guided by the chronological plan underlying the entire collection. To build this plan, the compiler had, on the one hand, the indications of Byzantine chronographs and the dates of Russian treaties with the Greeks, and, on the other hand, the number of years of the Kievan principalities, kept in the memory of Kievan society. In the Tale of the Beginning of the Russian Land, following the legend of the Khazar invasion of the glades, we find such an insert under 852 ᴦ .: having said that under Emperor Michael III “the Russian land began to be called”, because then Russia attacked Tsargrad, as it is narrated in Greek annals, the author of the insert continues: “We will start the same place and put the numbers.” This insert is obviously made by the compiler of the code. He leads his chronology from the flood, indicating how many years have passed from the flood to Abraham, from Abraham to the exodus of the Jews from Egypt, etc. Calculating various chronological periods, the compiler of the code reaches the time when (in 882 ᴦ.) Oleg established himself in Kiev: “from the first summer of Mikhailov to the first summer of Olgov, the Russian prince, 29 years, and from the first summer of Olgov, closer to gray in Kiev, to the first summer of Igor, 31 years”, etc. until the death of the Grand Duke of Kiev Svyatopolk: "and from the death of Yaroslavl to the death of Svyatopolchi 60 years." The death of Svyatopolk, which happened in 1113 ᴦ., serves as the limit of the chronological calculation, on which the vault is built. So, the code was already compiled under Svyatopolk's successor Vladimir Monomakh, not earlier than 1113 ᴦ. But we saw that the Kiev-Pechersk chronicle was interrupted even under Svyatopolk, in 1110; consequently, the chronological calculation of the code does not belong to the initial Kiev chronicler, who did not live to see the death of Svyatopolk, or at least finished his chronicle before it, but was made by the hand that wrote during the reign of Svyatopolk's successor Vladimir Monomakh, i.e. between 1113 and 1125. It is precisely at this time that the Sylvestrov postscript 1116 ᴦ cited by me falls. It is this Sylvester I consider to be the compiler of the code.
NESTOR AND SYLVESTRE.
Now we can explain the attitude of this Sylvester to both the Primary Chronicle and the chronicler Nestor. The so-called Primary Chronicle, which we read from the Lavrentiev and related lists, is an annalistic code, and not a genuine chronicle of the Kiev-Pechersk monk. This Kiev-Pechersk chronicle did not reach us in its original form, but, partly abridged, partly supplemented with inserts, entered the initial chronicle as its last and main part. This means that it cannot be said that Sylvester was the initial Kievan chronicler, nor that Nestor compiled the most ancient chronicle that we read, that is, the initial chronicle code: Nestor was the compiler of the most ancient Kievan chronicle, which has not come down to us in its original form, and Sylvester is the compiler of the initial annalistic code, which is not the oldest Kievan chronicle; he was also the editor of the oral folk traditions and written narratives included in the collection, including the Nesterov Chronicle itself.
About the edition:
Soon New Year! At the beginning of each year, each of us has many plans, many of which are not destined to be fulfilled. Year after year we gain wisdom and begin to plan less but better. Do you plan to read the entire Bible next year? If yes, then we can offer you several options for reading the Bible in a year:
- 1) Bible reading plan for the year from the Institute "Discipleship Movement", Odessa. He is interested in the fact that you can read the New Testament in a year, the Old Testament - in a year or two (reading one or two chapters, respectively). You can combine reading and get to read the Bible in a year.
- 2) Plan for reading the Bible for the year from the magazine "Discipleship" (JesusChrist.ru translation). It is famous for having only 25 days of Bible reading each month. The remaining days are used to cover missing passages or to meditate on what has been read. The folder contains two PDF pages that can be printed on both sides of an A4 sheet and folded compactly.
- 3) The famous plan of pastor Robert Murray M'Chane, which involves reading the Old Testament once a year, and New Testament and the Psalter are traversed twice. This reading plan English language(The Bible is still the same, so it can be easily used to read the Russian Bible) is available in PDF version (also A4 sheet on both sides).
- 4) The Calvary Church Bible Reading Plan is offered as an aid to the daily reading of the Scriptures by all who wish to constantly listen to what God says in His Word. This plan offers you three possible reading options:
- 1) By reading these texts in full for each day, you will be able to read the entire Bible in a year;
- 2) By reading only the first text for each day, you will be able to read the Old Testament in a year;
- 3) By reading only the second text for each day, you will be able to read the New Testament in a year.
- 5) James McKeever's "Plan for Victory" has three distinguishing features:
- 1. You read one psalm or one chapter of Proverbs every day.
- 2. You read the Gospels twice.
- 3. You read the Old Testament in chronological order.
- 6) The One-on-One with God Bible Reading Plan is specifically designed to help you on your spiritual journey through the pages of the Bible.
- 7) Another Bible Reading Plan
Studies among Christians have shown that 85% read the Epistles more than the Gospels. In the proposed plan, you will go through the 4 Gospels twice in one year, but not one after the other as in most Bible study plans.
A rather interesting subtlety is the reading of the Old Testament not in the order in which the books are found in the Bible, but in the order of the events that actually occurred. For example, Daniel and Ezekiel wrote during the Babylonian captivity, and Ezra returned from there to rebuild the temple. Therefore, you will read their books in that order. You will find that the Old Testament comes alive when its books are in the correct chronological order.
May God bless your Bible reading and ours so that we can all say with the psalmist, “I rejoice in your word as one who has made great gain” (Psalm 119:162). These are not all Bible study methods. There are many of them, but it is important that you find the method that suits you personally today.
Planning
General rules for drawing up a plan when working with text
- Read the text and think about what you read.
- Break the text into semantic parts and title them. Headers should be passed main idea each fragment.
- Check whether the points of the plan reflect the main idea of the text, whether the next point of the plan is connected with the previous one.
- Check whether it is possible, guided by this plan, to reveal the main idea of the text.
How to make a simple plan.
- Read the text.
- Divide the text into parts and highlight the main idea in each of them.
- Title the parts.
- Read the text a second time and check if all the main ideas are reflected in the plan.
- Write down the plan.
How to make a complex plan.
- Read the study material carefully.
- Divide it into main semantic parts and title them.
- Divide the content of each paragraph into semantic parts and title (subparagraphs of the plan).
- Check whether they fully reflect the main content of the material being studied.
How to phrase
definition of a new concept
A concept is a form of thinking that reflects objects in their common essential features. The definition reveals the content of the concept.
- Read about the subject or phenomenon whose definition you need to formulate. Select a new concept.
- Determine its essential features.
- Try to formulate the definition orally, clearly setting out these signs.
- Write down the definition, check whether it reveals the content of the concept.
Example.
In the text of the textbook we read:
After the reforms of the 60-70s. productive forces began to develop faster and capitalist relations began to take shape.
Infrastructure began to be created, which included a complex of auxiliary sectors of the economy (roads, canals, ports, communications). The development of industry depends on the state of these branches.
We formulate the definition:
Infrastructure - this is a complex of auxiliary sectors of the economy (roads, canals, ports, means of communication), on the state of which the development of industry depends.
How to make a chronological table
- Read the entire topic on which the chronological table is to be compiled.
- Reading a second time, highlight the main events that will be included in the chronological table.
- Prepare a table in your notebook. Usually, it looks like this:
date | Event |
There can be as many rows in the table as there are dates and events you write down.
- Read the text again and complete the table.
- Write out in the chronological table only those events that are directly related to this topic.
- As a rule, a chronological table is compiled for some wars, so the first date in the table is the beginning of the war, and the last is the signing of a truce or a peace treaty (the date the war ends).
- After the table, it is necessary to draw a conclusion about which side won and which was defeated, and indicate the terms of the peace treaty.
