Bayern Munich team. Bayern Munich

It is strange enough that the news of the appointment Niko Kovaca the head coach of Bayern Munich caused so much bewilderment. Or rather, on the one hand, this bewilderment is understandable. People are used to thinking in stereotypes (this is neither good nor bad - it just is), and the stereotype that has developed in football says: only a coach who has earned a big name for himself can lead a big club. Any other choice is perceived with surprise: that is, how is it Kovacs? Who is this anyway?

Meanwhile, the value of a name in football is a) a very ephemeral thing; b) definitely not the main and not the only selection criterion. And if you pay attention to other criteria, it will become clear that Bayern approached the solution to the coaching issue quite reasonably.

The simplest thing in the justification puzzle is work experience at Bayern. The club on Sebener Strasse is to a certain extent a thing in itself: people who are completely outsiders rarely become part of this system. There is a joke in Munich that having a player's portrait in the club's gallery of fame automatically guarantees him a seat on the board of directors, and this is only partly a joke. Kovac has not played for Munich his entire career, but is familiar with how the club processes work - this was certainly a factor in his favor.

But not the most important. The fact is that at Eintracht the Croatian underwent a difficult course of preparation for work at Bayern. In Frankfurt, which had very limited funds, it was necessary to scrape together a team from all over the world - as a result, the team consisted of a crazy mix of representatives of one and a half dozen nations. Eintracht spoke seven or eight different languages and was the most international club in Europe, but Kovacs, who had brilliant communication skills, managed to make a team in these thankless conditions. A team where everyone fights for everyone.

And here's why it's important. Bayern have never chosen a coach based on his tactical skills - which is why there is neither Tuchel nor Hasenhuttl in Munich. “Bavaria” is a specific place to work also because it is much more important here to demonstrate people management skills. As soon as control is slightly lost, the coach will be instantly gnawed by the players, which is what happened with Carlo Ancelotti, whose tactical strength is beyond doubt. The main job of a coach in Munich is not to make players better (the best are always gathered here anyway), but to force each of them to remember every day how good they are, and to extinguish conflicts even before they arise. It’s awkward to make references to yourself, but if you haven’t read my article about what kind of person he is, read it. Around the middle, you will understand that this is exactly who Bayern needs from a man-management point of view.

The organizational component is also important. Now it is finally clear that it is under Kovac that a global restructuring of the Bayern attack will take place - refusing to rely on the Robbery pair and searching for new options. In such a situation, when the same people have commanded the attack for many years, Munich risks finding itself with problems in the offensive (they partly already exist now, which was admitted Jupp Heynckes). Start building accordingly new team it is necessary from the defense, where the record holder has everything in order both in terms of names and in terms of number and age composition. Kovacs, on the other hand, specializes in constructing clear defensive actions - if they can be established, the Munich car will be difficult to succumb to external damage.

These three points are already enough to explain how a strange, at first glance, choice becomes reasonable. There is, however, a non-obvious thing that is worth mentioning. worked for Red Bull Salzburg and, after several years of strengthening the club in Europe, applied for the position of head coach of the main team. Nevertheless, the sports director of RBZ and one of the main football thinkers of our time Ralf Rangnick stated that Kovac’s philosophy does not suit the club, which extremely offended the Croatian. Now, when almost half of the coaches in the Bundesliga either directly came into contact with Rangnick, or adopted some of his ideas from his followers, and Rangnick’s Leipzig project is slowly becoming Munich’s main competitor, it would be very Munich-like to oppose oneself to this philosophy. I repeat, the theory is not obvious, but very beautiful.

In a club where the proud love of one’s own identity and difference from everyone else is raised to the level of a motto (“Mia san mia” - “We are us”), this is quite acceptable. And new head coach knows this.

Football is great game. A sport that unites millions of people around the world. There are a considerable number of clubs. And one of the most popular and titled is Bayern Munich. Legendary club with a rich history and a considerable number of achievements. Of particular interest are the Bayern coaches. There were a lot of them. And everyone brought something different to this club. Therefore, it is worth paying more attention to these professionals.

Start

The first real coach was Thomas Taylor. He led the team for a year - from 1908 to 1909. He was then replaced by Georg Hoare. He stayed longer - two seasons. After him, also for 2 years, came John Griffith. He managed Bayern until 1913, when William Townley joined him. And the team was coached by two people for exactly a year.

Then came Franz Kreisel, followed by his namesake Bauman. In those days, Bayern coaches (as, in principle, any other club) changed frequently, almost every season. Following Baumann was Heinz Kistner, who was succeeded by Karl Storch. In the 1920s, players were coached by William Townley, Dori Kürschner, Hans Schmid, Jim McPherson and Kondrad Weiss.

Of all the times in those years, Kondrad Weiss and Richard Dombey stayed the longest. Each of them led the team for three years. Over the entire history of the club, several dozen coaches have changed (not 10, not 20 or 30 - much more). But there is not much information left about them. Therefore, we should talk in more detail about those who held the post of head of the club relatively recently.

People who influenced the team's success

Many Bayern coaches are legendary people. And their work could not but affect the club’s reputation. Since the 70s, the times began when only real professionals in their field came to the post of head coach. This includes Udo Lattek. He led the club from 1970 to 1975, and then from 1983 to 1987. The greatest personality! Multiple champion Germany. Few people know, but football was originally a hobby for him. Udo played at the amateur level and was preparing to become a teacher.

Then there was Dettmar Kramer. It was he who led the team to victories in the European Cup (1975 and 1976). Then there was Gyula Lorant and Pal Csernai. The latter also did a lot for the team. Twice he led her to victory in the German championship and once in the German Cup. There was and But it will be necessary to talk about it separately. The legend was also the coach of FC Bayern. He led him to victory in the UEFA Cup.

And finally, This man led FC Bayern to victory in the German Championship, the German League Cup and the National Cup.

Joseph Heynckes

This man has done a lot for a club like Bayern. Former coach of the Munich team is a legendary figure. He four-time champion Germany, as well as the winner of the UEFA Cup and Germany. And this as a player! He is also a world and European champion (as part of the German national team).

He coached five German clubs. Borussia Mönchenglabach, Eintracht Frankfurt, Schalke Gelsenkirchen and Bayer Leverkusen. He also managed Spanish teams (“Athletic”, “Tenerife” and “Real”). There was also a Portuguese club - “Benfica”. While holding the position of coach, he led Bayern to victory in the German Championship and the National Cup. But the most significant trophy is, of course, the Champions League Cup. And it was with him that the club scored a “golden hat-trick” - three victories in major tournaments during the season.

And of course, it should be noted that Jupp Heynckes is one of 18 coaches who has won the Champions League twice. And one of four (!) who managed to do this with two different teams.

Louis Van Gaal

The Dutch coach came to the Munich club when they had problems better times. The start of the season was difficult. First place in standings was behind Bayer (which at that time was headed by Heynckes). But Van Gaal did everything in his power. In winter, the team began to show great success. Soon the Munich team even beat Bayer!

In the 2009/10 season, under the leadership of Louis Van Gaal, they reached the Champions League final. But there they lost to the Italian Inter. The next season was not so successful, so Van Gaal was sacked. But nevertheless, the former head coach of Bayern did a lot for the club and its players.

Ottmar Hitzfeld

This man took over as Bayern coach in 1998. Before that, he was at Borussia - with competitors. By the way, they considered the Munich club “untrainable”. And yes, there was a reason to say so. Previous Bayern coaches did not stay with the team for long. However, Hitzfeld managed to unite the players. He decided to bet on offensive football. And I was right. The very next year, 1999, the club won the national title. And in the next two seasons the success was repeated. Twice (in 1999 and 2000) the Bavarians played in the finals of the German Cup. Each time they faced Werder. For the first time, the Munich team lost. But they didn’t miss out on their second victory.

With the Champions League everything was more dramatic. The entire football world will forever remember the 1999 Champions League final. Then the Munich team lost to Manchester United in the last added 5 minutes. They were leading 1:0! But the British did the incredible - in the last minute and a half they scored 2 goals. But in 2001, Bayern won the Champions League - their rival was then Valencia. It was a success.

But Hitzfeld left the team in 2004. The management decided to terminate the contract with the coach early. But no specific reason was ever given. There were guesses that this was due to not entirely good performance in the German Championship.

Our time

All Bayern coaches are distinguished by something special. For example, after Heynckes came Pep Guardiola. The first Spanish coach to manage the Munich club. But this season they will say goodbye to him. This has been known for a long time. But who would become the coach of Bayern was an intrigue. But then they announced the name, and it came as a shock to everyone. From July this year, 2016, the Munich team will be led by the Legendary Italian coach! The man who won everything he could with Milan. The one who led Real, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Roma to numerous victories. The fans are in anticipation. Many are confident that, led by Ancelotti, Bayern will achieve a lot.

After all, there is someone to lead to victory! Bayern now have a very strong squad. And they need a professional, star coach who knows what it's like to work with these teams. Real football stars play in Bayern. Now the main line-up is as follows: Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Dante, Raphinha, Jerome Boateng, Juan Bernat, Holger Badstuber, Thiago Alcantara, Mehdi Benatia, Sebastian Rode, Douglas Costa, David Alaba, Arturo Vidal, Sven Ulreich , Javi Martinez, Robert Lewandowski, Serdar Tasci, Philipp Steinhart, Joshua Kimmich, Julian Green, Kingsley Coman, Fabian Benko, Milos Pantovic, Patrick Weihrauch. Needless to say, the team consists largely of current world champions! Therefore, she needs a worthy leader.

It is expected that the Italian specialist will stay in the team for three years. Well, we just have to wait for the summer and see what Ancelotti will do with the players. After all, everyone knows that every time he does something phenomenal. This usually ends in victories.

The first football club in the city was the currently existing “Munich 1860”, founded in 1860 as a gymnastics club; this club opened a football section in 1899. Bayern appeared a little later - on February 27, 1900, a month after the German Football Association (DFB) was created. At a meeting of the football section of the Munich gymnastics union MTV-1879, a discussion of the question of whether to remain under the roof of gymnasts or start an independent life turned into a split: 11 people, led by Berliner Franz Jon (John), left the meeting and in the Gisela tavern decided to create a football club. Bayern club ( "Bavaria") - in honor of the German state, the capital of which is Munich. In post-Soviet publications the Latin name “Bavaria” was assigned to the club.

Franz John was elected as the first president; Paul Franke became the first captain and at the same time player-coach. Among the club's founders were Josef Pollack, who became the team's first scorer but left for the United States in 1903, Wilhelm Focke, who went to America two years later and soon became the first president of the United States Football Association, and Gustav Manning, an art student who later became interested in aircraft construction and together with his brother, he created a workshop from which the Focke-Wolf factories grew.

Bayern played its first training match with the First Munich club and won with a score of 5:2. The club was located in the Schwabig district, next to the University of Munich, and very soon students flocked to it; already in the 1901/1902 season, Bayern became the best club in the city and held the title of unofficial champion until 1904. In these early years the club colors were white and blue.

However, after the first international match of Bayern, lost in Prague to the DFK club - 0:8, the club management decided to sharply increase the amount of contributions - from 3 to 40 marks [ ] . This helped the club budget and allowed in 1903 to invite the first legionnaire - the Dutchman Willem Hesselink, who was also involved in coaching work [ ] . This decision did not please many Munich fans. "Munich 1860" remained the most popular club cities [ ] .

Funds were needed for further development, and in January 1906 Bayern joined the Munich Sports Club ( Münchener Sport-Club), and she had to change colors and become red and white. Already in 1907, the club had several adult teams and about a hundred youth and children's teams.

The German championship, until the formation of the Bundesliga in 1963, was held according to a complex multi-stage system: Bavarian clubs first had to win the Bavarian championship, then the South German championship, and only then did they reach the quarterfinals of the all-German championship. Before the war highest achievements the red-whites were victorious in the Bavarian championship in 1911; The tone in Southern Germany in those years was set by Karlsruhe, Fürth and Nuremberg.

In 1924, Bayern parted ways with the Gymnastics Union - it was from that time that the club existed in its current form.

First successes (1925-1932)

The team's first success came only in the 1925/26 season. Bayern dominated the Southern Regional League tournament, but, having begun the fight for the German championship title, lost to Fortuna Leipzig. Two years later, the team, in which center forward Josef Pöttinger, who was recruited 14 times under the banner of the German national team, shone, again became first in the south, but in the semi-finals of the national championship lost to the future champion Hamburg - 2:8.

Triumph came in 1932, when in the final of the German championship they beat Eintracht Frankfurt am Main with a score of 2:0. The leading player of that team was the central midfielder Ludwig Goldbrunner, notable figures in German football defender Harringer was considered (he was considered one of the best European defensive players in those years), as well as players Hoffmann, Bergmeier, “Ossie” Rohr and Krumm. After the National Socialists came to power in Germany, Bayern stopped winning, and Bayern president Landauer and coach Richard Dombey, a Hungarian Jew, had to leave the country because the Gestapo was hunting for him. The first role was taken by the team personally supported by Adolf Hitler - Schalke 04.

Golden era (1963-1979)

At that time I was already working with the club new coach - « mighty mouse» Dettmar Kramer. Under his leadership, the team never became first in Germany, but twice rose to the European podium: the Champions Cup went to Munich the following year, when the only goal of midfielder Franz Roth (the hero of the Cup Winners' Cup final '67) brought Bayern victory over " Saint-Etienne." At the end of the same season, the Intercontinental Cup was added to the club's trophy collection - in the two-game final they beat the Brazilian Cruzeiro (2:0 and 0:0). But they never managed to win the Super Cup - the Bavarians’ path was blocked by Dynamo Kiev (0:1 and 0:2) in 1975 and the Belgian Anderlecht (2:1 and 1:4) in 1976. Bayern's golden era is over.

FC Hollywood (1979-1998)

New successes (1998-2010)

On May 4 in Dortmund, Bayern played away against Borussia. Although the Munich club looked stronger both in the Bundesliga (it approached the 32nd round with the same 20-point lead, without losing a single point in the second round) and in the Champions League, Borussia remained an inconvenient opponent for it : in the first round match, Bayern managed to achieve only a draw at home; She won the quarterfinals of the German Cup with a minimal score. However, Heynckes left a couple of players, including the captain, at home. Borussia were missing six key players from the main squad. Bayern earned a penalty kick, which was saved by Neuer, and six yellow cards, one of which turned red - in the 65th minute, with the score 1:1, the Munich team were left with ten men. However, Borussia failed to take advantage of the numerical advantage: the match ended with the score 1:1, but the 14-match winning streak Dortmund interrupted Bayern. In the final, 34th round, Bayern increased the lead over its closest pursuer to 25 points (the draw in the match with Borussia remained the only misfire in the second round), and the difference in goals scored and conceded to 80, which became a new record Bundesliga. In addition, the team updated 5 more records: for the number of points scored in the tournament (91), away points (47), wins (29), away wins (15), away goals scored (42), and also repeated two of his own achievements (in the 1986/1987 season): the minimum defeats (1) and the absence of defeats on the road. On April 29, 2017, the Munich team became German champions ahead of schedule, beating "

The composition of FC Bayern for 2017-2018 will be of interest to all fans of this wonderful team. The most titled club in Germany will try once again to defend the title of the strongest team in the country and perform well on the international stage, going as far as possible. It was for this purpose that the Munich management acquired several new players in the off-season.

At the last stage, everything is unchanged. The club gates are entrusted to protect:

  • Manuel Neuer (captain);
  • Sven Ulreich;
  • Tom Starke.

The place of the main goalkeeper was undoubtedly claimed by Manuel Neuer. This goalkeeper is annually recognized as the best in the German championship, and some experts call him No. 1 in the world. Neuer, with his actions on the field, proved that he is a universal master who can pull out a dead ball, insure the defenders, and support the team’s attack. In case of injury or disqualification, the place in the frame will be taken by the young goalkeeper Sven Ulreich or the most experienced Tom Starke.

Defensive redoubts

Bayern's defensive lineup for the 2017-2018 season has become even stronger. In the off-season, talented central defender Mats Hummels transferred from Borussia Dortmund. The following will help him “cement” the approaches to the gate:

  • Rafinha;
  • Niklas Süle;
  • Jerome Boateng;
  • Juan Bernat;
  • David Alaba.

It is possible that before the end of the transfer window, Bayern will make 1-2 more targeted reinforcements of the defense, since the existing clip is not enough to fight on three fronts - the Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup. Even if no major acquisitions are made, Munich fans should not be upset: lately head coach Carlo Ancelotti has been using a formation with three defenders and active flanks joining the attack.

Who will play in midfield?

WITH center line Bayern are in perfect order. The following players have been entrusted to play in the center:

  • Thiago Alcantara;
  • Franck Ribery;
  • Javi Martinez;
  • Arjen Robben;
  • Douglas Costa;
  • Arturo Vidal;
  • Joshua Kimmihu;
  • Niklas Dorsch;
  • Erdal Ozturk;
  • Fabian Benko;
  • James Rodriguez (transferred from Real Madrid for 10 million euros).

In addition to the listed masters of the leather ball, Corentin Tolisso was bought from Lyon for the midfield line for 42 million euros. Renato Sanches arrived from Benfica for 35 million euros, and he is unlikely to be marinated on the bench. With such fierce competition in the center of the field, even the club's permanent leaders - Ribery, Robben and Vidal - must demonstrate their best game to get into the starting lineup.

Young players (Benko, Dorsch, Ozturk) will get their chance in the German Cup or go on loan before the start. It is obvious that this Bayern squad for 2017-2018 includes either recognized legends or bright young players. There is no place for promising players who have been adapting to the Bavarian style for a long time.

Attack line

There are only three players in the club's attack:

  • Robert Lewandowski;
  • Kingsley Coman;
  • Thomas Müller (vice-captain).

With the current Bayern game model with one center forward, who acts as a kind of “tip” of the attack, 1-2 strikers are enough high level. They were Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller (the former usually starts, and the latter as a substitute). Due to the excellent performances of these strikers, Kingsley Coman hardly appeared on the field last season. The striker has already expressed a desire to move if he is not given permanent playing practice in Munich.

As a result, Bayern's squad for 2017-2018 does not need to be strengthened. The main task for the club's head coach will be to establish interactions and introduce the team's expensive newcomers into the scheme. We will find out how productive the club has been in the off-season on August 18, when Bayern will host Bayer in the home match of the 1st round of the Bundesliga.

History of the club

At the end of the 19th century, football in Germany developed due to the popular gymnastics clubs at that time. One of these clubs was Munich 1860. In 1899, a football section was founded in this club. Since little attention was paid to football in the gymnastics club, already in 1900 a section meeting was held, where the issue of the possibility of independent development of the football section was discussed. Eleven people spoke in favor of secession from gymnastics club and create a new football club. This is how the Bayern football club was born. The club was named after.

Bayern played its first match with the First Munich team. The result of the match is 5:2 in favor of Bayern. Due to the fact that the club was based near the University of Munich, it became very popular among students. The doors of the new club were open to everyone, so the team did not experience a shortage of players. It is not surprising that in 1907 the club had a dozen children's and youth teams, as well as several adult teams. Before the First World War, this team was the most popular in Munich. Several players from the German national team played for the Bavarians.

Bayern's first successes

The team from Munich owes its first successful performances to coach William Townley. It was this coach who instilled speed and combination play in the Munich team. The 1925/26 season was successful for Bayern. However, Bayern failed to become the best in Germany. The championship title that season went to Fortuna from Leipzig.

1932 was a triumphant year for the Munich residents. In the final match, Bayern beat Eintracht, scoring two unanswered goals. This is how the Munich team became national champions for the first time. The team's fans had to wait quite a long time for subsequent successful performances.

Bayern in the Bundesliga

The Bundesliga in Germany was founded in 1963. However, the Munich team were able to begin their performances in the Bundesliga only in 1965. During this period, the eminent Gerd Müller, the great Sepp Mayer, and the unsurpassed Franz Beckenbauer played for Bayern during this period. It was these high-quality players that the team's game was built on. The Munich team finished their debut season in the Bundesliga quite successfully, finishing third. In addition, the team won the German Cup.

In 1969, the team from Munich wins the national championship and cup. Bayern preach attacking, fast and aggressive football. The period from 1969 to 1974 was very successful for the Bavarians. The team wins the championship title four times. The colors of Bayern are defended by several players of the national team who became world champions in 1974.

From 1980 to 2013, the Munich club won the championship eighteen more times. The team was able to achieve enormous success under the leadership of the eminent Udo Lattek. This odious coach managed to build a team that had no equal rivals not only in the German championship, but also in the international arena. Udo Lattek led Bayern for more than five years. With this coach, the club won the national championship three times and won the German Cup once.

Throughout its history, Bayern has won 23 championship titles and became the country's vice-champion 10 times. Football players from Munich won the German Cup 16 times. Munich have won the German Super Cup 5 times.

Bayern on the international stage

For many years now, Bayern Munich has been a constant contender for victory in any international tournament. The team from Munich won the European Cup for the first time in 1974. Under the leadership of the talented coach Udo Lattek, Bayern beat Atlético Madrid in the final. The fans did not see any goals scored in regular time, but in extra time the Spaniards managed to open the scoring. Bayern was able to win back only a few seconds before the end of the match. Since there were no post-match penalty kicks at that time, the match was replayed. In the second game, Bayern left no chance for the opponent, scoring four unanswered goals against the Spaniards.

In the 1974/75 and 1975/76 seasons, the Bavarians again won the Champions Cup. IN final game In 1975, the English Leeds were beaten, and in 1976, the West German team beat Saint-Etienne in the final match. Their illustrious captain, Franz Beckenbauer, demonstrated a brilliant performance for the Munich team. In 1976, the legendary Bayern captain was recognized best player Europe.

In 1996, Beckenbauer, already the coach of Bayern, won the UEFA Cup.

The 2000/2001 season ended with another triumph for Bayern. Under the leadership of Ottmar Hitzveld, the Munich team became winners of the Champions League. In the playoff games, the strongest teams in Europe were beaten - Real Madrid and the English Manchester United, to which Bayern lost the memorable final of 1998/99. In the final match, the Munich team met with the Spanish Valencia. The main time of the match ended in a draw. The winner was determined in the post-match penalty shootout. The players from Munich turned out to be the best in penalty kicks.

The 2012/13 season saw the first ever Champions League final between two German teams. Bayern, coached by Jupp Heynckess, met Borussia Dortmund in the final. Players from both teams demonstrated the highest football skills. There was a lot of fighting, dangerous moments, flank passes, shots on goal and goalkeeper saves in the match. Bayern opened the scoring in the match, but after eight minutes the opponent managed to equalize the score. The winning goal was scored by the tireless Arjen Robben. The Munich team won the final match with a score of 2:1. We also note that on the way to the final game, Bayern simply destroyed the formidable Catalan Barcelona. In two matches, players from Munich scored seven unanswered goals against the Catalans.

Bayern is one of the most titled clubs on the planet. The Munich team won the European Cup three times, they have two victories in the Champions League, one UEFA Cup, one Cup Winners' Cup. In addition, the team won the Intercontinental Cup twice and won the UEFA Super Cup once.

The Munich team plays home matches at the Allianz Arena (stadium capacity – 71,137 fans).
