We are improving the electronic bite alarm. Making a bite alarm for donkey with your own hands

The March sun is shining brighter, it's time to prepare your equipment for summer fishing. Despite the general fascination of hunters for peaceful fish with feeders, adherents of the classic donkey remain. For a bottom fishing rod (donka), various bite alarms are used; making one of them yourself will be discussed in today’s article.

The homemade product is simple, both to make and to use. An undoubted advantage, unlike store-bought ones, is that anyone can make such a fishing “helper” of the size, shape and color they need. Well, it’s always nice to use hand-made gear when fishing.

Making a bite alarm for donkey with your own hands

The simplest signaling device consists of three main elements:

  • The axis is a wire up to one millimeter thick.
  • The body is an old float, a Kinder Surprise capsule, a blank carved from hard foam, a bottle cap.
  • Tube - from cocktails, from juices, from flags, fountain pens and the like.

Alarm materials

We select materials for the manufacture of our signaling device.

Selected materials

We drill a through hole in the body of the float to allow the wire axis to pass through. Cut a three-centimeter piece from a long tube.

We put a short tube, a signaling device body, and a long tube onto the axle in succession.

Signal elements on the axle

At the rear end of the wire we make a loop for attaching to the ring of the bottom rod. In the case of using rigid wire, for the convenience of making a signaling device, it should be annealed over a fire. For convenience, it is better to bend the wire on a mandrel made of a tube with a diameter of a centimeter or a little more.

Rear end bend

Having moved all the elements of the product to the rear end, we begin to bend the front end of the axle. This loop should be in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the back bend. The diameter of the front loop may be slightly larger than that of the back, and be approximately two centimeters.

The loop should fit into the front tube about one centimeter. A longer piece will be awkward to insert into the tube; a shorter piece will constantly fly out of it.

Front bend

Today, fly fishing is becoming increasingly popular due to its calm and not too tiring manner, unlike spinning or fly fishing.

However, even having purchased feeder tackle, everyone wants to add some zest to it, which would make the fishing process more visual, simple and comfortable, avoiding unnecessary empty casts, accompanied by stuffing of wasted bait. So, let's talk about how to make a bite alarm with your own hands.

Eye Alarms

Operating principle

The principle of operation of visual alarms is that, with the help of various devices (nods, beacons, fireflies), they make the bite more noticeable and obvious to the fisherman, relieving him of empty doubts about the bite and unnecessary casting of gear. This, in turn, saves effort, time, as well as bait, which is consumed with each cast.

Among these visual indicators are the following:

  • Float;
  • Nod;
  • Firefly;
  • Foil tube;

Let's consider the principles of operation and manufacturing of each of them separately:

Float

Manufacturing instructions

To make this type of alarm, you will need a regular float, you can take a factory-made one, or you can make it yourself from a piece of dense foam. In this case, it is important to correctly select the calculated weight of the float and the weight of the feeder gear.

They must match, otherwise the tackle will either sink immediately, or vice versa, the float will uselessly lie on its side in the water. In both cases, you won’t see the coveted bite. After this, when assembling the tackle, you must first attach a locking ring to the fishing line, which will limit the movement of the float and determine the depth to which the feeding weight with hooks will be immersed.

It is advisable to make this ring heavy-moving in order to change the depth of the tackle if necessary. With this type of alarm, the vole can be seen as with conventional float fishing.

Nod

Manufacturing instructions

This type of bite alarm is an element of spring material about 10-15 cm long, one end of which is attached to the tip of the feeder, and on the other there is a ring through which the fishing line is passed.

The material for making the nod will be steel spring wire or a thin metal twisted spring itself. The nod must be attached firmly enough so as not to fly off when casting the tackle.

At the same time, it is desirable to make it adjustable, i.e. When making an attachment to the tip of the feeder, use polymer or rubber tubes so that you can change the length, and therefore the rigidity - the sensitivity of the nod.

After making the nod, we attach it to the top of the feeder, thread the fishing line through it and attach the tackle. Here it is important to check the free movement of the line through the nod hole. This way you can avoid breaking the tip of the feeder when casting or shooting off the feeder.

firefly

Manufacturing instructions

To make this type of alarm with your own hands, we will need a clothespin or a “frog” office clip. The latter is preferable, because it is more firmly attached to the top of the feeder, and the holes in its ears allow you to attach a firefly to them.

You will also need a regular fishing firefly, used for night fishing with regular float tackle. The variety of these fireflies in fishing stores today is quite large.

This could be a chemical fracture firefly, which begins to phosphoresce when its internal capsule is fractured and liquids are mixed, or an LED firefly, powered by an ordinary small battery. This firefly is attached to the ears of the previously described office clip.

It is worth noting that it is still recommended to remove this signaling device before each cast and reattach it after casting, since even with the most successful design in the dark, there is a possibility of the line twisting through the firefly, and as a result - breaking the tip of the feeder or shooting off the tackle.

Foil tube

Manufacturing instructions

This type of signaling device is probably the most primitive, both in terms of manufacturing method and method of application.

To make it, we need aluminum foil and a tube, which will be taken as a basis.

It is worth noting here that the diameter of the tube should be thicker than the first ring on the feeder equipment.

Taking the described tube, we wrap aluminum foil on it in three to four layers, press it tightly, and then fix the tip with a piece of adhesive tape or tape, preventing it from unrolling.

The length of the tube should be about 15-20 cm. The excess can be cut off on the base tube.

After this, we pass the fishing line through the resulting foil tube and then thread it through the rest of the feeder equipment, so that the manufactured tube is located between the reel and the first ring of the feeder. After casting and installing the feeder, the tube moves towards the reel and lies on it, slightly sagging.

You can lighten it up a little more. In case of a bite, the line is pulled tight and the tube stands parallel to the feeder form.

How to catch more fish?

I have been active fishing for quite some time and have found many ways to improve the bite. And here are the most effective:
  1. . Attracts fish in cold and warm water with the help of pheromones included in the composition and stimulates its appetite. It’s a pity that Rosprirodnadzor wants to impose a ban on its sale.
  2. More sensitive gear. Reviews and instructions for other types of gear can be found on the pages of my website.
  3. Lures using pheromones.
You can get the rest of the secrets of successful fishing for free by reading my other materials on the site.

Simple sound alarms

Operating principle

Simple sound bite alarm devices for the feeder are a combination of a mount in which the device is attached to the top of the feeder, and a direct sound alarm itself. It could be a bell, or it could be a rattle, and so on.

In the event of a bite, the top of the feeder to which such a device is attached begins to vibrate, and, consequently, the bell or rattle begins to make a corresponding sound. Let's take a closer look at the bell.

The right bell

Manufacturing instructions

To make the right bell for the feeder, let’s immediately make a reservation that it will not be the bell itself that will be made, since there are a lot of them on sale and there is no point in spending time and effort on making it. Here we will talk about the method of attaching it and stopping it on the feeder.

The simplest and most classic way is to attach the bell using any clip to the top of the feeder, but this is not entirely correct or practical. Another method seems to be the most correct. To do this, take a small piece of rubber band and attach it to the feeder stand at a distance of about 20 cm from the top.

We attach a bell to this harness, to which we also attach a small wire hook. After casting the feeder and installing it on the stand, take the bell hook and attach it to the fishing line next to the reel so that the elastic pulls the fishing line back a few centimeters.

If there is a bite, the line will begin to tighten and the bell will ring. In this case, you will not have to remove the bell from the top of the feeder every time you cast, and it will not interfere with landing fish.

Side bite alarm for feeder

Device

The side bite alarm is a device that is partially structurally reminiscent of a nod, since it also consists of a main spring part, which is also made of metal or plastic, as well as an attachment to the feeder form. The difference is that this type of alarm is placed between the coil and the first ring of the feeder.

The length of the working part is about 10-15 cm. At the end opposite the feeder, a hook is made into which the fishing line is placed after casting. The signaling device is installed at an angle of 90 degrees to the feeder form. In the event of a bite, the line tension “puts” the alarm almost parallel to the feeder.

Making a bite alarm with your own hands

To make a side bite alarm, you will need a metal tube about 5 cm long and about 2-3 mm in diameter.

It is tightly fixed on the feeder form at a distance of about 10-15 cm from the coil. Next, take a metal spring wire about 20 cm long.

At one end we bend it 90 degrees to attach it to the previously indicated tube, at the other end we make a Z-shaped hook with a bend length of 1 cm.

After installing it on the feeder and casting it, we pull the fishing line and insert it into the hook of the alarm.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that choosing too hard a material may make the alarm insufficiently sensitive. It is also a good idea to attach some bright, noticeable colored ball to the end of the hook for better information content of the device.

Electronic bite alarms

An electronic bite alarm is a device whose operation is based on the opening or closing of an electrical circuit, which is carried out with the participation of the feeder line when a bite occurs. These devices are usually equipped with both sound and light signals.

Manufacturing

The simplest option for making such a signaling device for a feeder with your own hands would be to use a Chinese sound key fob as the basis, in which a melody plays when a button is pressed. Such keychains are sold at any market or toy store and cost no more than 100 rubles.

This key fob is attached to the feeder stand, the key fob button is initially closed, and the contacts are brought out in the form of two plates. Next, a piece of plastic in the form of a strip about 1 mm thick is attached to the feeder line between the reel and the first ring, which is inserted with the second end (after throwing the feeder and installing it on the stand) between the output contacts.

When bitten, the fishing line pulls out a plastic strip, the contacts close, and a melody sounds.

How long has it been since you had a really BIG CATCH?

When last time Have you caught dozens of HUGE pike/carp/bream?

We always want to get results from fishing - to catch not three perch, but ten kilogram pikes - what a catch! Each of us dreams of this, but not everyone can do it.

A good catch can be achieved (and we know this) thanks to good bait.

It can be prepared at home or bought in fishing stores. But the stores are expensive, and to prepare bait at home, you need to spend a lot of time, and, to be fair, not always homemade bait works well.

You know that disappointment when you buy bait or prepare it at home and only catch three or four bass?

So maybe it’s time to use a truly working product, the effectiveness of which has been proven both scientifically and in practice on the rivers and ponds of Russia?

It gives the same result that we cannot achieve on our own, especially since it is cheap, which distinguishes it from other means and there is no need to spend time on production - you order it, it’s delivered and you’re good to go!

Of course, it is better to try once than to hear a thousand times. Moreover, now is the season! This is a great bonus when ordering!

Find out more about the bait!

Many fishermen use electronic as well as mechanical bite alarms. Not only carp fishing enthusiasts actively use such devices, but also feeder and bottom fishing enthusiasts, because amateur feeder fishing does not involve such frequent recasts as occurs with sport fishing. Thanks to such indicators, you can leave the gear for a certain time without fear of missing a bite. However, high-quality products from well-known manufacturers often cost a lot, so the question is how to make electronic signaling device Do-it-yourself biting remains relevant despite the variety of similar devices on the shelves of fishing stores.

The simplest bite indicators can be made independently, without any experience at all in working with electronics and electrical circuits. Some simple bite alarms do not even require the fisherman to have skills in working with a soldering iron.

Option #1

You will need:

  • LED
  • Small coin cell battery
  • Heat shrink tube that holds the battery.
  • Two silicone tubes, one of which must match the diameter of the LED.

First, you need to cut the heat-shrink tube so that when you place the battery in it, approximately 1-1.5 cm of tube remains on both sides. Insert a silicone tube inside, then use a lighter or other source of fire and burn until the tube is secured on both sides.

Important! From the side where the LED will be located, the tube should be removed.

Place the LED inside a silicone tube, then isolate it from contact with water using transparent silicone glue. It is also advisable to glue the fastening end, not forgetting to leave space for attaching the structure to the float. This homemade bite alarm can also be used for night float fishing, and attach it to carp, feeder or donk rods when fishing at night. The same device can be used to improve the pendulum bite alarm, making it visible at night.

Important! If the LED does not light up, you need to change the polarity of the contacts.

Option No. 2

This DIY bite alarm is a little more complicated. To make it you will need:

  • LED with batteries (options from lighters with flashlights are excellent - there is already a ready-made case for batteries).
  • Metal tube.
  • Spring and self-tapping screw.
  • An elastic band and a few centimeters of thin wire.

Place the light bulb with batteries inside the tube; one of the LED contacts must be shorted to the housing. Fix a self-tapping screw on the spring, place this end inside the tube, and secure the other end inside the body with an elastic band.

A wire must be soldered to the second contact of the LED, the other end of which must be secured to the part of the spring protruding from the outside. When a bite occurs, the spring, weighted with a self-tapping screw, closes the contact and the LED lights up. It’s also easy to make a do-it-yourself sound bite alarm from a similar design; just replace the LED with a buzzer from an inexpensive postcard, but flashes of light at night are more noticeable than short-term sound signals.

Middle option

Let us describe the manufacture of an intermediate version of the signaling device. it also uses an LED with batteries from a lighter, as well as a silicone tip from a pipette and metallized adhesive tape with electrical tape.

Photo 1. Take out the light block from the lighter.

Photo 2. We mount a piece of tube using metallized tape.

Photo 3. We place the structure in the silicone tip, sealing it with electrical tape.

The amount of adhesive tape must be selected in such a way that the stationary structure does not glow, and when biting, a glow appears, as in the next photo.

Photo 4. It glows, however!

Production of more complex versions of electronic signaling devices

There are also more advanced homemade products, the manufacture of which will require some experience and knowledge of electrical engineering and electronics (however, you can always try to find a radio amateur among your friends who will make a bite indicator for a nominal fee).

To make one of the relatively more complex bite indicators you will need:

  • Cheap Chinese alarm clock (provides both a housing for the device and a speaker).
  • A resistor from an ordinary computer mouse.
  • A nod (a bicycle spoke will do, or just a metal wire of sufficient diameter).

The two extreme contacts of the resistor must be soldered together; later they will be connected to the battery. To the middle one you need to solder a wire that will be attached to the alarm clock board. Next you need to choose a place in the case for the resistor. After the location has been chosen, you need to use a heated awl or nail to make a hole in the body through which the nod will pass. The resistor is fixed with glue. The nod is attached to the hole in the resistor. The finished product should be attached to the rod, the line should be wound by the nod so that it is taut. When the nod is deviated in any direction, this device emits a fairly loud sound signal, which notifies you of a bite towards the shore or away from the shore.

For the option with a reed switch you need:

  • The body of the future device.
  • Spring plate for reed switch, plate for attaching magnet.
  • Sealed contact with magnet.
  • Battery and indicator light.

The sealed contact is attached to a springy metal plate, at the end of which there should also be a ring for tying the fishing line. The plate with the reed switch is mounted inside the housing, and the optimal distance for attaching the magnet is selected experimentally. The case also contains a board with the radio components necessary for the bite indicator to operate, as well as a toggle switch and a battery of the required power.

Important! The toggle switch is necessary to ensure that the electronic alarm does not go off when transporting the device to a reservoir. This option is much more convenient than opening the case each time to remove the battery.

The housing also needs holes for a light indicator, a speaker that signals a bite, and also for the line to come out. The fishing line is attached at one end to a plate with a reed switch, and at the other to a clip, which in turn is mounted to the main fishing line and transfers the biting force to the plate with a sealed contact. Such a bite alarm is usually installed on a rod stand, and not on the form itself.

Using a sealed contact, fairly sensitive and reliable homemade bite indicators are obtained, but the manufacture of such devices requires some experience.

Since ancient times people have used various ways, for effective monitoring of fish bites. These were all kinds of floats, guards or visual observation of the tip of the fishing rod. With time and experience came the desire and ability to improve these devices. And with the advent of new technologies, more “smart” bite alarms began to appear. Now there is various types nods, bells, light, mechanical and electrical bite indicators.

Electronic signaling devices

In the distant 60s, the development of electronic signaling devices began. They combined visual and audio signaling. One of the more popular bite alarms was Heron. The main disadvantage of this device was the need to connect it to an external battery.

Development did not stand still. Contacts with wiring have been replaced by small sensor blocks built into the alarm body. They are much more reliable and sensitive than older models.

Modern electric alarms can receive a bite signal through:

  • Form

Such devices are attached directly to any convenient place on the fishing rod using adhesive tape. It can be used both in summer and outdoor winter fishing. The indicator body is made in the form of a small cylinder, weighing about 12 g. It is airtight and does not sink. The cylinder has an on/off button and sensitivity level settings for:

  1. Predatory or large white fish;
  2. Small white fish;
  3. Winter fishing.

There are also auto functions (on-off) of the device when hooking. To save energy, there is an option to turn off the device if there are no bites for a long time (more than three hours)

The principle of operation of such devices is to remove information from the rod blank with a sensor built into the body. False signals from the wind and water disturbances are not recorded. The bite signal is given by sound (up to 50 m) and LED (up to 100 m).

  • Fishing line

These are electrical alarms traditional form. They are produced with fasteners for installation on the rod blank, or installed on a rod pod or fishing rod stand. They consist of:

  1. Housings;
  2. Alarm roller;
  3. Batteries (crowns);
  4. Microcircuits;
  5. Sound and light signaling device.

The body is made of plastic or metal. It has a special place where the power supply is installed. At the top there is a roller with a photocell for fishing line. Inside the case there is a microcircuit, LEDs and a sound signal speaker. On the surface there are on/off buttons, volume, sound tone selection, as well as a warning light button.

The case has a threaded mount for screwing onto a stand or rod pod. The alarm itself also doubles as a stand for the fishing rod. More expensive models have waterproof cases. For budget models, we can advise you to fill the board yourself with candle wax. This will prevent moisture from getting on the chip.

One of the most popular mechanical signaling devices is Megatex (picture below.)

Operating principle such alarms are simple:

  1. The case is screwed onto the stand. It is brought into working position (power is connected, it turns on). The desired sound tone and volume are adjusted (this is convenient when fishing with several rods).
  2. The tackle is thrown, the fishing rod is installed on the signaling device. The line is wound onto the roller.
  3. The slack is selected (swingers or mechanical bite alarms are needed to tension the fishing line), and the clutch on the reel is correctly set.

When bitten, the fishing line sends a signal through the roller to the photocell. In turn, it generates a signal with sound and light. This informs the fisherman that the bite has begun.

As a rule, electric alarms have 2 indicators. Red indicates a bite. Green or blue lights up when the device is turned on. It also burns for a few more seconds after the bite ends. This makes it possible to see which of the fishing rods the fish was biting on.

Cheap signaling device "Barracuda" (barracuda), made of black rubberized plastic.

  1. Waterproof housing;
  2. Adjusting volume and tone;
  3. Light and sound alarm;
  4. A crown battery (9 V) is used for power supply.

The control buttons are located on the front side of the alarm. The rubberized body allows you to use the device in any weather conditions. The board is covered with a waterproof coating.

Electronic Chinese signaling device "Hoxwell" has:

  1. Light and sound indicator of inclusion;
  2. Eight tone levels;
  3. Volume control, silent mode;
  4. Settings memory function;
  5. LED bite direction scale;
  6. Built-in signal transmitter;
  7. Turn on night mode.

These are moisture-proof models with side-mounted control buttons. The body is additionally protected by rubber pads along the seams of the joints. A crown battery is used for power supply. These models are also equipped with pagers.

Electronic alarms with pagers

Modern professional signaling devices are equipped with built-in signal transmitters. This is convenient for day or night fishing, being at a relatively long distance from fishing rods. The bite signal is transmitted to the pager. The signal transmission distance reaches 200 m. The pager can notify the fisherman with a vibration, sound or light signal. Each set of alarms has its own pager. It can simultaneously receive signals from 4 devices.

Advantages of using models with a built-in signal transmitter:

  1. Obtaining information about line tension at a distance from the fishing site.
  2. Which rod did the bite occur on?

The pager is configured together with alarms, which allows you to select and control the signal. You must remember to charge the device in a timely manner so that you are not left without communication with the alarms while fishing.

Ready-made alarm sets

Such sets are equipped with a pager, usually 4 alarms, batteries and chargers (if necessary). The set is packed in a plastic case. The alarms are equipped with built-in transmitters for communication with a pager.

They also have special connectors for connecting electronic swingers. They have waterproof cases. Such kits are convenient to transport, easy to assemble and use. Ready-made alarm kits are quite expensive. However, they differ in the quality of the models and the virtual absence of fakes.

Light signaling devices (firefly)

For night fishing, one of the most common types of signaling devices is “fireflies”. They are easy to use, affordable and suitable for all types of fishing (bottom, float or spinning).

Basically, signaling devices produced by the manufacturer have the following forms:

  • In the form of a nail or stick;
  • In the form of a light bulb, which increases the lighting area.

According to the principle of operation, such devices are divided into three types:

  1. Collapsible capsules with small batteries and LED. These fireflies are reusable, thanks to the replacement of batteries.
  2. Light accumulative signaling devices. The principle of their operation is the accumulation of light during short-term illumination. For them to work you need to have a good flashlight.
  3. Disposable chemical fireflies. They consist of a plastic flask with component A. Inside of which there is a capsule with reagent B. Under mechanical action, components A and B are mixed, and a reaction occurs - glow.

Signal lights can be of different colors. For chemical species, the most popular is the yellow-green glow. It's a pretty bright color. It is calm enough not to irritate the eyes. There are also light and sound bite alarms. They will be discussed below.

Fireflies are attached:

  • On a float, inserted into their silicone antennas. Or use rubber bands to place them on the tops.
  • To the tip of the rod, using silicone rubber bands. Special plastic fasteners are also sold. Several fireflies can be installed in such mounts.

The main brands that can be bought at a fishing store: Ocean Sun, Kostal, Balzer, Salmo, Rodinson, Liman Fish, Strike Alert.

Do-it-yourself light signaling device

As mentioned above, light signaling devices have proven themselves well when fishing at night. Regardless of whether you buy them in a store, you can easily make such an indicator at home. To make it you will need:

  1. Cocktail straws;
  2. Crocodile clips;
  3. Glue gun;
  4. LEDs;
  5. 3 V coin cell batteries;
  6. Heat shrink, according to the size of the battery.

A piece of straw 3–4 cm long is filled with a glue gun. An LED is inserted inside. Its legs protrude by 0.5 cm. A battery is inserted into a heat-shrink tube, 2 cm long. A piece of straw with a pin attached is inserted into one end of the heat shrink. It shrinks tightly using a lighter. A straw with an LED is inserted into the second end. The LED legs are located with different sides batteries (+, -). It fits so that it can be pulled out.

This homemade device is enough for the entire fishing season. Manufacturing does not take much time, does not require soldering or high costs.

Sound alarms

  1. Bells on a clothespin;
  2. Rattles;
  3. Bells.

Such indicators are used on bottom gear at night. Sound alarms are also installed during daylight hours, when it is difficult to visually monitor a large number gear. They are usually mounted on a fishing line or the tip of a donkey rod. (Pictures enlarge.)

Very often, the factory fastening of the bell is difficult to remove during hooking from the fishing line. This interferes with the normal rewinding of the tackle when fishing. Therefore, you can modify the alarm holder yourself. For this you will need:

  1. Thin-walled rubber hose, approximately 3 cm in diameter.
  2. A small bolt with a nut that will go into the bell ear

A ring 1.5 cm wide is cut from the hose. An incision is made on the ring and shaped into a hook. You need to make a hole in its long part. Through it, the bell is attached to the elastic band using a bolt.

You can make the bell yourself. For example, from decorations on the backs of old iron beds. They look like a cylinder with conical tips.

For production you will need:

  1. Saw the cylinder in half;
  2. Make a hole in the top;
  3. Attach a nut to the self-tapping screw, tying it to a fishing line. This will be the tongue of the bell;
  4. Self-tapping screw, screwed into the hole from the inside of the bell;
  5. A wine cork is placed on the tip. An incision is made in the cork to attach the indicator to the fishing line of the fishing rod.

You can make a bell from an old telephone bell. We analyze the call, we get two cups. In the upper part, through the hole, a tongue is fixed. You can use a nut on a fishing line for it. To install the alarm on the fishing line, you can use a cork.

Hand-made bells differ from factory-made ones in their special sound. This allows you not to confuse their sound while fishing with their neighbors.

How to increase your fish catch?

Over 7 years of active fishing, I have found dozens of ways to improve the bite. Here are the most effective ones:

  1. Bite activator. This pheromone additive attracts fish most strongly in cold and warm water. .
  2. Promotion gear sensitivity. Read the appropriate manuals for your specific type of gear.
  3. Lures based pheromones.

Mechanical alarm

Mechanical alarms act as visual control over bites. One of the simplest can be a piece of clay or dough suspended on a fishing line or an ordinary part of a branch found on the shore.

Purchased mechanical alarms can be divided into three types:

  • "Monkey". This is a fairly simple design of a rod and a tube (cylinder). The tube is placed on the fishing line between the reel and the first ring. The rod is stuck into the ground at an angle or vertically. An alarm is hung on it. When biting, it moves freely along the line. You can make such a signaling device yourself, using foil instead of a tube.
  • Bad (hanger)- This is a weight attached to a chain or flexible cable with a clip for fishing line. At the other end is a mount for a stand. This is a fairly sensitive type of alarm. Works well in calm weather. Hangers are much lighter than classic swingers.
  • Swinger– is one of the most popular (especially among carp anglers) mechanical types of alarms. The principle of their operation is to raise and lower the device on a fishing line. There are several options available for sale:
  • Classical is a swinger consisting of a weight weighing 100 grams, which moves freely along a metal lever. One end of the lever is equipped with a hinge for attachment to a stand. At the other end there is a plastic head with a special clip for fishing line.

It is installed as follows: after casting, the rod is placed on the stand; excess fishing line is reeled in; the fishing line is inserted into the mount on the head; the required sag is adjusted by moving the load along the lever; When hooking, the line comes out freely from the clamp on the head.

Classic swingers are mainly used in combination with electronic alarms.

A lightweight swinger consists of a plastic tube with a wire rod running inside it. At the front end there is a bright head with a fishing line attachment. At the other end there is a loop for installing the signaling device on the throughput ring of the rod. It works the same way as a classic swinger. It’s just always on the form. The price of this model is much lower.

Another mechanical signaling device is a nod. It's very easy to make it yourself. To do this, you can buy a spring nod for a winter fishing rod in any fishing store. This spring has a whip attachment and a bright ball at the end. To put a nod on bottom tackle necessary:

  1. Cut the rubber fastener near the hole through which it is put on the whip.
  2. Place it on the tip of the rod near the first ring
  3. To secure, a thread is wrapped around the fastening circle and tied. The top is covered with insulation
  4. The fishing line is passed through a ring, a spring with a ball

The tackle is ready for use. The sensitivity of the nod is adjusted by the movement of the spring. This design allows you to see even the lightest bites. It is good to use for tackle with a hard tip of the blank.

Side bite alarm for feeder

At its core, the feeder itself is quite sensitive gear. However, sometimes this is not enough in strong winds and large breaking waves. Also, on reservoirs where it is not possible to place the feeder parallel to the shore, the visibility of bites decreases. For such conditions, a side signaling device or a side clevertip will be indispensable.

Finding a ready-made design in stores is quite problematic. Here are some tips on how to make such a device yourself:

Alarm parts: attachment to the rod; metal rod; steel wire.

  1. Fasteners can be made from a regular plastic clamp for PVC pipes. A rubber ring will help secure it to the rod.
  2. The tube or rod is selected according to the diameter of the hole in the clamp.
  3. A steel wire with a diameter of about 1 mm and a length of up to 20 cm is bent in an arc. One end is bent at an angle of 90º. The length of the bend is approximately 5 cm. Attached to the rod using glue and thread. At the second end there is a hook for the fishing line. To better see bites, colored cambrics are put on the wire.
  4. The entire structure is attached in front of the first winding ring, closer to the reel.

Take a regular store-bought winter fishing rod and insulating tape. Installation method:

  1. There is an elastic band on the nod for putting it on the fishing rod. It is mounted using electrical tape on a form next to the coil.
  2. A cut is made on the nod ring into which the fishing line will be inserted.
  3. A nod is installed in the groove on the elastic band, and the fishing line is wound. The alarm is ready for operation.

These simple and sensitive devices respond well even to sluggish bites from inactive fish.

Bite alarm for ice fishing

The traps are designed for fishing predatory fish for live bait. Gear devices:

  1. Base;
  2. Reel with fishing line;
  3. Stand with signaling device.

For a bite alarm, a flag is most often used. This is a piece of bright material (usually red) on a narrow, thin plate 40–60 cm long. Sometimes springs are installed. The operation of such an indicator is very simple. When adjusting, the flag, in a bent position, is fixed on the reel. The predator, taking the bait, pulls on the fishing line. As the reel scrolls, it releases the flag. It straightens up, allowing you to see the bite.

A little advice. To distinguish your flags from other people’s gear, it is better to make the signaling device original in shape and color.

From all of the above, we can conclude that regardless of the conditions and methods of fishing, the alarms play important role V successful fishing. The fisherman himself can choose which model suits him. Buy alarms in a store or make them yourself, with your own hands, how to improve your gear.
