Especially for Russia, Coca-Cola, together with FIFA, created the longest World Cup Tour in the host country of the world championship in the entire history of this project. The journey, which will last a total of 123 days (and this is only in Russia), is divided into three stages. The first, which is running these days, covers 16 Russian cities, from Krasnoyarsk to Sochi. In January 2018, the official Cup will go on a world tour and visit more than 50 countries on 6 continents. The second part of the Russian journey will begin in May next year in Vladivostok, and will again end in the Russian capital, Moscow, on the eve of the World Cup. The official Cup will visit nine more Russian cities, most of which will host matches of the upcoming World Cup.

FOOTBALL FOR EVERYONE

One of the main goals of the Official Cup Tour is to support the development of youth football in Russia and inspire aspiring players to new achievements. With the help of the journey of the legendary trophy, the Coca-Cola system in Russia, together with FIFA, the Russia 2018 Organizing Committee and the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, draw attention to the idea of accessibility of sports, in particular football, for everyone, regardless of gender, physical and intellectual capabilities. Therefore, as part of the visit of the official Cup, visits to socially significant institutions are organized in each of the cities of Russia: orphanages, boarding schools, sports and secondary schools, Olympic reserve schools.

During the first leg of the FIFA World Cup Cup Tour, Coca-Cola also brought a trophy to the opening of an inclusive play park with football field in Saransk.

It was built as a collaboration between Coca-Cola and the Naked Heart Foundation with the support of the local administration. In 2017-2018, inclusive play parks, available free of charge to everyone, regardless of physical, mental and sensory disabilities, will be opened in other cities hosting the World Cup. They will be Coca-Cola's lasting legacy as official partner FIFA after the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In addition, in all cities on the Official Cup Tour route that will host the FIFA World Cup, the Coca-Cola system in Russia organizes unified football matches that unite athletes with and without special needs, celebrities, athletes and ordinary boys in one team - in October and November 2017, unified matches were held in Saransk, Kaliningrad and Volgograd.

"To win the World Championship FIFA 1998 was unforgettable because France was not considered at that time the best team. That victory made so many people happy and inspired. The original cup, weighing almost 6.2 kg, was made of pure gold in 1974. Only the winners of the World Cup final and heads of state have the right to touch the trophy, as stated in FIFA regulations. By the way, the winners of the world championship are awarded only an enlarged copy of the trophy. The original weight is kept at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

At the capital's Luzhniki stadium, a route was announced along which football cup world will travel around Russia on the eve of the 2018 World Cup.

The tradition of sending the main football trophy on a tour of the cities and towns of the country - the hostess of the upcoming world championship - is somewhat reminiscent of a relay race Olympic flame and has been around for 20 years. By the way, as part of the tour on the eve of the previous World Cup, held in Brazil, the Cup had already visited our capital and was wildly popular among Muscovites. It’s not easy to come and take a photo with a precious figurine, although that’s not without it. The trophy was displayed in huge tents, where, in addition to getting to know the main exhibit, visitors could view interactive exhibits and receive gifts. Now residents of not only the capital, but also other Russian cities will have the opportunity to experience the celebration of football.

The World Cup tour of Russian cities will be the fifth in a row and the longest in history

The current World Cup tour will be the fifth and longest of all. Over the course of 123 days, the legendary figurine will cover 26 thousand kilometers, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, and visit 24 cities: 15 before December of this year and nine more in the spring of next year. And for the winter the trophy will leave Russia to visit another 50 countries around the world.

The Cup will travel around our country on a special charter, accompanied by 40 people, which will include volunteers, security officers, and so on.

The route announcement ceremony took place in the capital's Luzhniki Stadium, which is hard not to see as symbolic. After all, it is in this arena on July 15 next year that the World Cup winners will raise the coveted trophy over their heads. If the Luzhniki surroundings are still in the process of improvement, the stadium itself makes a great impression. Both outside and especially inside. After reconstruction, it became fresher and sparkled with new colors. And in the literal sense: the previous slightly flashy orange-yellow color of the stands was replaced with a pleasant burgundy. But the main impression is the lawn, amazing in its impeccability. At least go out and play now.

Just a year ago, I saw a construction site here,” FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, who attended the ceremony, did not hide her admiration. - And now everything is ready. I can congratulate the Russian people on the upcoming holiday.

The legendary ex-defender of the French national team Marcel Desailly, the guest of honor at the event, was no less inspired.

I remember when I was only 10 years old,” one of the toughest players in the history of football smiled sweetly, “I followed the 1978 World Cup and went crazy about the game of Mario Kempes. And, of course, I couldn’t even dream that I would see the World Cup up close. And the Russians will have such an opportunity.

The cosmic scope of the ceremony was given by the inclusion from the ISS directly on the stadium screens, and the culmination was the announcement of the list of cities where the Cup will arrive. The tour will begin in September and will follow the following route:

Krasnoyarsk (9-12 September)
Omsk (September 15-17)
