Teams consisting of no more than 7 people took part in the Olympiad: 3 representatives for mathematics and 2 for other disciplines, as well as a leader. Russia was represented at the competition by 13 teams from Moscow, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Sergiev Posad, Chelyabinsk, Yakutsk, Saransk and Kaliningrad.

The XVI International Zhautykov Olympiad in mathematics, physics and computer science was held by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MES RK) in the city of Almaty on the basis of the Republican Specialized Physics and Mathematics Secondary Boarding School (RSFMSHI) named after O. Zhautykov for gifted children, with the aim of developing relations between countries, promoting scientific knowledge and strengthening ties between physics and mathematics schools.

Organizers of the Olympiad: Republican Scientific and Practical Center (RSPC) “Daryn” of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and RSFMSHI named after. O. Zhautykova.

Team RUS-1 from the MBOU "Physics and Mathematics Lyceum" of the city of Sergiev Posad (the only team from the Moscow region) was represented by 11th grade students of the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum of the city of Sergiev Posad, consisting of:

  • in the Physics category - Georgy Akindinov, Alexey Zolotarev and Anton Novitsky;
  • in the “Mathematics” category – Maria Tikhonova.

The lyceum physics teacher Vladimir Ivanovich Shutov was appointed as the team leader by order of the education department.
