The rules of the game of volleyball briefly for schoolchildren: the main points of the game. Volleyball rules of the game educational and methodological material for physical education (grade 5) on the topic Rules of the game and basic forms of conducting classes

Volleyball (from the English volley - “volley” and ball - “ball”) is one of the popular sports. It is played in many countries around the world. Those who are just starting to learn about this sport are recommended to get acquainted with its history, features and basic provisions.

Story

Volleyball originates from the American city of Holyoke. In 1895, the director of physical education, W. Morgan, of the YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) came up with the new sport of Mintonette. It was originally intended to be played by older members of the association.

William Morgan

The sport had much in common with basketball, but the nature of the competition was softer. They played in the hall with a tennis net at a height of 6 feet (198 cm). The match consisted of nine innings with three innings for each playing team in each inning and no limits on the number of ball contacts for either team. Hitting the ball into the net was considered a foul, except on the first try.

In 1896, observer A. Holster noticed the confusing nature of the sport and named it volleyball. The charter of the sport was adjusted and competitions began to be held throughout the country. Great changes in volleyball occurred in the period 1915-1925. Basic instructions were developed, some of which have survived to this day and are still played according to them.

Volleyball: rules and technique of the game

The competition takes place on an area measuring 18x9 meters, which is divided into equal squares by a meter wide grid. The height of the net depends on who is playing: for men's competitions - 2.43 m, for women's competitions - 2.24 m. In volleyball, the match time is not regulated; they play until one of the teams scores 25 points. Played using a ball that meets the regulations of the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation).

For volleyball competitions, balls made of natural or artificial leather are used, with a circumference of 65-67 cm, a weight of 260-280 g and an internal pressure of 0.30-0.325 kg/cm²

Each team consists of up to 14 people, but only 6 play directly. The goal of the game is to lower the ball onto the court in the opponent’s zone with an attacking blow. Which team will throw the ball in is determined by lot - tossing a coin. Players must be proficient in volleyball techniques, among which the main ones are:

  • Serve from the back line. The goal is to land the ball on the opponent's field. Players use different types of serves: underhand, topspin, floating, jumping and others.

Jump serve
  • A pass is an attempt by a team to correctly reflect an opponent's serve or other form of attack. Moreover, it is not easy to repel, but to create a threat to the enemy.
  • The attack consists of throwing the ball to the opponent's side. The player makes a series of approaches, jumps and touches the ball. Ideally, contact with the ball should occur when the attacker is jumping.
  • Blocking - preventing an opponent's attack, as a result of which the ball remains on the side of the attacking team. Several players can be involved in a block.
  • Dig – the ability to prevent the ball from touching the court. Sometimes a jumping player lands on his chest while trying to save the ball. But usually this is only played indoors; in beach volleyball, an uneven surface limits the chances of timely hand contact with the ball.

How to play volleyball for beginners: rules

For most people, their first introduction to volleyball occurs at school. The teacher makes a short release of key provisions, so only those who know them and adhere to them play well.

Teaching sports discipline at school

Key points:

  • 2 teams play, 6 people each. The first three (at the net) attack, the second provides a line of defense. The essence of the competition is to move the ball in order to lower it to the floor in the opponent’s zone.
  • The ball cannot be caught and held, only hit with your hands. But if it bounces off another part of the body, this is not considered a violation. One athlete cannot touch the ball 2 times in a row, with the exception of a block.
  • Beginners and amateurs are allowed to accept serves with the lower technique, in professional sports, only with the upper one.
  • They play until one of the teams scores 25 points. Beginner matches consist of 3 games. The winner is the team that wins 2 games.
  • Each participant is in his own zone. They move clockwise after one of the teams earns a point. They play within the established boundaries of their field; going beyond or stepping beyond the center line is considered a violation and adds a point to the opponent.
  • Each participating team takes 2 short breaks (time out) of 30 seconds each. Time is usually used to make the replacement.
  • Serve with one hand no later than 8 seconds after the referee's whistle. If the serve is made before the whistle, a second try is given.

The most important 5 rules of volleyball

Since its founding, major changes have occurred in volleyball. The sport constantly developed and entered the Olympic Games in 1964. The sport has many fans around the world. People start playing volleyball professionally at the age of 8. In Russia, youth teams that win citywide tournaments twice a year already at the age of 11 receive the 2nd youth category. But regardless of who plays where, they adhere to the following rules:

  • Regardless of the level of the tournament, athletes play on a court with standard dimensions (18x9 meters). The surface must be flat and horizontal. This does not give any of the participants an advantage; everyone always plays under the same conditions. Each participant takes his own position, which they can change only after a goal is scored.

Volleyball field dimensions
  • Features of scoring points. To win, you need to score 25 points 2 times. However, in this sport, points are also awarded for the opponent’s mistakes.
  • There is a tough fight throughout the entire fight. There is no such thing as, for example, in football, they scored a goal at the beginning of the game and until the end of the second half they roll the ball around the field, occasionally delighting the fans with short, sharp moments. The ball is constantly in the air, and you cannot leave it only on your field (team players must touch the ball no more than 3 times).
  • Innings. There are several types of feeds. Serve under the hand, tossing and hitting the ball from above or in a jump, touching the fingers. It is easy to determine the level of the players based on their pitch.
  • Libero is a player who specializes in defense. Always takes the opponent's attacking blows.

The libero's uniform must be different from that of his team members, but not the same as the opponent's.

Competition rules

Volleyball matches are held according to the rules established by the FIVB, where all the intricacies of the competition are discussed in detail. Brief overview of significant provisions:

  • The competition involves 2 teams playing within their own field. 6 volleyball players play at the same time - 3 in the front row and 3 in the back. The goal is to send the ball over the net so that it lands on the opponent's side and prevent the opponent from doing the same.
  • Matches consist of sets, the number of which depends on the level of the tournament. Points are awarded for landing the ball on the opponent's side when the opponent makes a mistake and is penalized. 3-set matches are 2 sets of 25 points and the third of 15. 5-set matches are 4 sets of 25 points and the last of 15. A team must win 2 sets unless the competition dictates otherwise.
  • Any contact between a volleyball player and the ball is considered a hit. According to the rules, a team has the right to 3 hits. One athlete cannot hit the ball 2 times in a row. Several athletes can touch the ball at the same time. If 2 opponents, playing over the net, simultaneously touch the ball, the receiving team can count on 3 more hits.

Simultaneous touching of the ball by opponents
  • Breaks in volleyball are time outs and substitutions. Each playing team can request no more than 2 time-outs and 6 substitutions. In World competitions, technical breaks are assigned if the team that leads the score scores the 8th and 16th points.
  • After the participants have played the game, a short 3-minute break is given. During it, the players change sites, and the protocol records who will occupy what positions.
  • Athletes must treat their opponents with respect and respond adequately to refereeing decisions. During the match, communication between athletes is allowed. Harsh, offensive or hostile behavior is subject to sanctions, up to and including disqualification.

On the field, each player takes his own position: setter, outside hitter, left hitter, opposite hitter, right hitter and libero. Each position plays a special key role in achieving victory.

Rules of the game in volleyball

For many, volleyball is the best ball game. In this article we will touch upon such an important topic as the rules of the game of volleyball. Especially for beginners, it is not so easy to remember all the nuances in this wonderful game. For our readers, we will analyze all aspects in detail, and after reading the article, no one will have any questions about how to play volleyball correctly.

Playground and play areas

For playing volleyball, a court measuring 18 by 9 meters is used. It is divided in half by a net raised to a height of 243 cm for men's teams and 224 cm for women's teams.

rules of volleyball

The site itself is conditionally divided into six zones according to the number of participants in the game. The transition from zone to zone is carried out clockwise. So, the first zone is the one from which the feed is made. From there, the player goes directly to the fifth zone, bypassing the middle defender, called the libero. As a rule, the libero changes positions with the players who are most needed on the front line for blocking; he himself does not take part in setting up blocks and delivering finishing blows. As the game progresses, he does not move from zone to zone, in addition, his shape is different from the shape of other players.

Volleyball Court

Not long ago, changes were made to the current volleyball rules, according to which a team can have two liberos, and their substitutions can be made an unlimited number of times, without the need to inform the referee about this.

Volleyball

The game is usually played using a Mikasa volleyball. Its weight is 260-280 grams, and its diameter is 65-67 centimeters.

How the game goes

The serve is an important element of the game: the more complex it is, the more difficult it will be for the opponent to launch an attack. It is made from the service area, which is located behind the back line of the court. A mandatory condition for serving is that the player performing it cannot touch the court with any part of his body. In order not to break this rule, the player performing the jump serve needs to be especially careful. The served ball may touch the net in flight, but must not touch the boundary antennas, which would be a violation. If, when serving, the ball went out of bounds, touched the net and fell onto the field of the serving team, or the rules were violated by the serving player, then the receiving team is counted a point and the serve goes to it. If the ball touches the field of the receiving team, or goes out of bounds at the hands of its player, the point is counted by the server, and the same player makes the next serve.

rules of volleyball

Any player of the receiving team can serve the ball, but, as a rule, this is done by those who are located on the back line. Having received the ball, players can pass it between themselves no more than three times, after which it must end up in the opponent’s half. The ball can be received by any part of the body. Delaying it in receiving is unacceptable and is a violation, which leads to a stoppage of the game and a point being counted in favor of the serving team.

As a rule, a standard attack occurs as follows. With the first touch, the receiving player transfers the ball to the setter, with the second, the setter gives a convenient pass to the attacking player, with the third, the attacker delivers the final offensive blow. When attacking, the ball must fly over the net between two antennas. Front line players can attack from any point, back line players can only attack from behind a special three-meter line that exists on the field.

Blocking

This is the name of a game technique with the help of which the defending side seeks to prevent the ball from entering its half. For these purposes, hands are usually used, which are transferred over the net within the rules to the opponent’s side, preventing the ball from flying. An important element of this technique is that the hands should not interfere with the opponent before the attack begins. Only front line players can take part in blocking, and it is possible that they can do this with one or more touches. Touching a block as one of the three game touches does not count.

Regulations

The game is played until victory in three games. Each game continues until one of the teams scores 25 points, and the difference between the points scored by the opponents must be at least two. Until this ratio is reached, the game will continue, and the score may be, for example, 29:27. If after four games the score in the game is tied, then a fifth game is played, which is called a tiebreaker and is played up to 15 points.

Six substitutions are allowed in each game, the libero is not included in this number. After each game, as well as after 8 points are scored in the tiebreaker, the teams change sides. In each game, the coach has the opportunity to take two timeouts of 30 seconds each. Also, in each game, except for the tiebreaker, after the teams score 8 and 16 points, technical timeouts lasting 60 seconds are assigned.

Major rule violations

During the game, game violations occur quite often, and the main ones are:

feed spade

the serve is not made within the 8 seconds allotted for this

the player touches the ball twice in a row

the player stepped into the opponent's field

the top of the net touched

the ball was thrown

the placement of players on the court was carried out incorrectly

during the rally there were more than three touches of the ball

unsportsmanlike conduct occurred

Judging

Refereeing in volleyball is carried out by two main referees, who have the right to stop the game with a whistle and record a violation, and line referees, who record violations on the field and signal this using flags. All referee signals during the game are given by gestures; players are prohibited from arguing with the referees during the game. At the end of the match, each team, if it disagrees with any of the decisions, can file a protest.

The main aspects of volleyball rules appeared in Russia back in 1925, and have changed little since then. 12 players play, divided into 2 teams. The game is monitored by a referee, whose position is attached to a pole next to one of the antennas. The main contingent of volleyball players in our country: people from 25 to 55 years old.

Short story

The game of volleyball dates back to 1895 and was invented by William J. Morgan. William Morgan mixed elements of basketball, baseball, tennis and handball.

The first volleyball net was borrowed from tennis and was 197 cm (6’6″ inches) high. A basketball camera was used as a ball. Later, at the YMCA Young Christian Conference, the game was given the name “volleyball,” and in 1897 the first official rules appeared. In 1949, the first men's world championship was held, in which the USSR national team took first place.

General rules

Players are divided into two teams: each of 6 people. 25 points are required to win. One point is awarded:

  • When the ball touches the ground in the opponent's half of the court.
  • If the opponent's serve is unsuccessful (into the net, out).
  • When an opposing player touches the net.
  • When an opposing player enters your half of the court.
  • When stepping behind the baseline in a serve.
  • When the ball is touched for the fourth time or further by the opposing team, or when the ball is touched twice by the same player.

According to the official rules, the game consists of 3 games. Each game is up to 25 points. If both teams have scored 24 points, the game continues until one of the teams has a 2-point advantage. For example, such a score could be 30:28 or 26:24.

The right to the first serve is played out between teams by throwing the ball from the referee or using a “candle” from the floor.

The game has a transition system. It works on the following principle:

  • Team 1 gives team 2 the ball and the result of the rally wins a point.
  • The next feed occurs. And so on until team 2 scores a point for team 1.
  • The right to serve passes to team 2.
  • Team 2 serves until Team 1 scores.
  • In this case, team 1 makes a transition: all players move clockwise and take the places of their neighbors. Those. a player from zone 1 moves to zone 6. A player from zone 6 goes to zone 5 and so on.

Important nuance: the first time any command is given, no transition occurs!

If a power hit or glider is used to serve, then after the hit the server may land on the court. The main thing that the server tossed the ball while behind the baseline.

Technical aspects

  • Net height for men: 2.43 m. For women: 2.24 m.
  • Site perimeter: 18 x 9 meters.
  • The circumference of a volleyball is 65-67 cm, and the weight of the ball is 250-280 g.
  • The site consists of 6 zones, divided by numbers.

Elements

Volleyball consists of the following elements: serve, receive, pass, attack, block.

Innings

Produced from behind the front line. Under no circumstances should you step behind the baseline until the ball is tossed! The serves can be lower, upper, twisting, gliding and power in a jump. Lightest: bottom. Suitable for beginners. In this case, the ball is hit from below with the back of the hand. A kind of “candle” comes out. The most difficult: strength in jumping. It is an element of an offensive strike, practiced by professionals or very good players. A good power delivery can only be received from below.

The planning feed stands out separately. Such a ball does not fly in a straight line, but in a sinusoid, slipping out of the hands when received. Served from a standing position or from a small jump. A smooth strike with an outstretched palm into the center of the ball.

The serve must be in the opponent's field and as difficult to take as possible.

Reception

50% of balls are hit in the center of the court by the libero. Diagonal ones also participate in the technique. The technique does NOT involve a player of the first tempo and EXTREMELY RARELY players of the second tempo.

In professional volleyball, you can only take the ball with a low pass. But in the amateur game there are often easy serves that can be taken from above. Ideally, the receiver should pass the ball high to the first pacer (passer) at a distance of 1 meter from the net into the 3rd zone.

Pass

Having received the ball, the player of the second pace with the top gear throws a pass to shoot into the 2nd or 4th zone. The pass can be “deceptive” - behind the back, backwards. Less often, the passer throws the ball above himself to shoot diagonally from the 1st and 5th zones. If he hits diagonally, then he must make a jump BEFORE the offensive line! Otherwise, the point is counted in favor of the opponent.

Forward kick

The attack involves finishing players and diagonal players. Pulling behind the offensive line, they make a run-up and a slash, trying to hit the ball as hard and accurately as possible. It brings 60% of the team's points.

The libero in professional volleyball does not participate in the attack.

Block

A well-placed block brings a team up to 40% of points in professional volleyball. The finishers and the second tempo player usually come out to block. The block is placed by one, two or - which happens mainly among professionals - by three players. The main nuance of the block: jump in time and stretch along the net, rigidly straightening both arms. Thus, the blocker blocks the attacker's area of his court, making it difficult to maneuver the attack.

The decisive factor on the block is the player's height. The higher it is, the better the quality of the block.

Roles and placement of players on the court

  • First pace player(central blocker, setter, “passer”) - stands under the net, gives a pass to the attackers in the 2nd or 4th zone, and also blocks the enemy’s attacking shots. Does not participate in the reception. If he is given a pass for a shot, then such a pass is usually short and low: literally half a meter above the net. The number of the middle blocker is 3rd. This is usually the tallest player on the team.
  • Second pace players(finishers) - attack from the edges of the net, participate in all elements of the game: reception, block, serve (after the transition), pass and attacking strike. On the court their numbers are: 2nd and 5th. Their job is to both score the ball against the opponent's block and to put up an effective block with the middle blocker against the attack. Usually they attack in any zone except the 6th, because There is a libero standing there at the reception - the main defender of the team. Usually they do not participate in the reception.
  • Diagonal- the tallest and strongest players. Their main task is to attack and serve. They also participate in the block. This is the main strength of the team, bringing it points. Diagonal ones do not participate in reception; on the court they are located diagonally to each other. They stand at numbers 1 and 4. They attack from the second line, insuring an unsuccessful pass from the setter. Diagonal number “1” does not have the right to shoot from the 2nd or 4th zone! His run-up and strike must occur BEFORE the offensive line.
  • Libero- second line player number 6. Located in the very center of his court. This is the team's main defender, responsible for receiving serves and power shots. This is usually the shortest member of the team, because... he has to drop and retrieve low power balls a lot. The libero does not participate in the attack and cannot block or pass the ball over the top while in the three-meter zone near the net.

Beach volleyball rules

“Beach” is played barefoot and in light clothing: swimming trunks, shorts, T-shirts, bathing suit. The game is played two-on-two. The basic rules are the same: no more than three touches, the ball must not fly into the net or out of bounds when serving, you can block, players cannot enter the opponent’s field and touch the net. A transition system has also been introduced: players change places after a goal is scored.

An important difference from classic volleyball is that the attacking blow must be accompanied by a slap on the ball. In the classics, discounts are allowed.

Video for the lazy

Volleyball is a sport game played by two teams. It is held on a special platform, divided into two parts by a net. Thanks to simple rules and the availability of equipment, volleyball is a common form of recreation that is loved by both adults and children. There are various variants of volleyball that emerged from the main type: mini-volleyball, beach volleyball, pioneer ball and others.

We focus on the basic form of volleyball and the rules of the game of volleyball, in which each team strives to throw the ball to the opponent's side so that it lands on their court, or the player makes a mistake.

Volleyball Court:

A volleyball court is a rectangle with a length of 18 meters and a width of 9 meters. When playing volleyball indoors, the ceiling should be 5-6 meters high, and the size of the court can be reduced in length to 15 meters and width to 7.5 meters. The court must be outlined with lines: short lines are called front lines, and long lines are called side lines. Another straight line is made, it is called the middle line, which connects the midpoints of the side lines and divides the court into two equal halves. On each of these halves, at a distance of 3 meters from the center line, and parallel to it, draw an attack line.

Volleyball stands:

The posts that support the net must be installed at a distance of 0.5-1 m behind the side lines, without bracing. They must be adjustable, 2.55 m high.

Volleyball net. Volleyball net height:

Stretch a rope net 9.5 meters long and 1 meter wide above the center line across the site.

The height of the net in volleyball: for men – 2.43 m, for women – 2.24 m.

Net height in volleyball for children:

11-12 years: for boys – 2.2 m, for girls – 2 m;

13-14 years old: for boys – 2.3 m, for girls – 2.1 m;

15-16 years old: for boys – 2.4 m, for girls – 2.2 m.

The height of the mesh should be measured in the middle. The height of the net along the side lines should be the same and should not exceed the height in the middle by more than 2 cm.

Volleyball:

The circumference of a volleyball should be 65-67 cm, and the weight of the ball should be 250-280 g.

Volleyball rules:

1. Volleyball team composition. How many people are in volleyball:

The game involves two teams of 6 people. In addition to them, each team must include reserve players. Each team should consist of 12 people, no more.

2. Substitutions in volleyball:

A substitute player replaces the team's main player. The main player who was replaced once can return to the court again, instead of the substitute player who replaced him, but provided that at least one ball was played with the participation of the substitute player.

3. Position of players in volleyball:

Before each serve, players of both teams stand in groups of 3 in two broken lines within the court. Three players stand at the net - they are called front line players, the other three players are back line players. All players, both the front and back lines, can be anywhere on their court during the game. Before serving the ball from the back line, players must stand behind the front line players.

4. Volleyball game. How many games in volleyball:

The game consists of 3 or 5 games. A 3-game game ends when one of the teams has won 2 games; a game of 5 games ends when one of the teams wins 3 games.

5. Playing volleyball. Change sides:

Before the start of the game, the referee draws lots to select the side of the court or service. If one team draws lots for the right to choose a side, then the other team chooses the service. After the first game of the game, the teams change sides and serves. And so after each game of the game the order of serves and change of sides is made.

6. Playing volleyball. Breaks:

Between games there are breaks of 3 minutes. Before starting the decisive game, there must be a break of 5 minutes, and then the draw is made again for the right to serve or choose a side. In the decisive game, if one of the teams reaches 8 points, then the sides are changed without a break. Between the second and third games the break can be increased to 10 minutes.

7. Serving the ball in volleyball:

After the referee's whistle, the ball is served. If the serve occurs before the whistle, the ball is replayed. The player serving the ball stands at the “serving place” behind the court, throws the ball and sends it to the opponent’s side with a blow of his hand. The serve is counted when the player touches the ball with his hand; if he misses after tossing and the ball falls to the ground, then the serve is repeated.

The ball is served by the player until he or his team makes a mistake.

8. Movements in volleyball:

When changing the ball serve, the right player of the front line serves. All other players move clockwise one space. This move is always made if the team wins the service.

9. How to hit the ball in volleyball, hitting technique in volleyball:

The ball in volleyball is hit with your hands in any way. If the ball touches the body above the waist, this is considered a hit.

The team must hit the ball in no more than 3 hits, without letting the ball fall to the ground. Kicks and passes of the ball are made with a jerky touch.

If two players of the same team touch the ball at the same time, then this is considered 2 hits, and none of these players has the right to take a third hit.

If one player touched the ball, and another player of the same team collided with it or hit his hands, but did not touch the ball, then this counts as 1 hit.

10. Blocking in Volleyball:

Blocking in volleyball is an attempt to stop an opponent's attack or stop the ball from passing over the net. Only front line players have the right to block. If the ball touches the hands of the blocking player, the blocking is considered successful.

11. Volleyball. Ball out of play:

If the ball flies over the side or end line of the court, it is considered out of play only if it touches an object or the ground.

If the ball is out of play, the team that last played the ball loses 1 point or serve.

12. Volleyball scoring:

The team that scores 15 points and has an advantage over the opponent by at least 2 points wins the game.

If the score is 14:14, then the game must be continued until 16 points, if it is 15:15, the game must continue until 17 points, etc.

Winning 2 games out of 3 or 3 games out of 5 in any order brings victory to the team.

If the receiving team makes a mistake, then the opposing team receives a point.

If the serving team makes a mistake, it loses serve.

The main difference between school volleyball and adult volleyball is the height of the net tension. If according to the official rules the net should be stretched 243 centimeters above the ground, then for children it can be made lower.

  • For boys and young men under 14 years of age, the recommended net height is 220 cm.
  • For schoolchildren from 14 to 16 years old - 235 cm.
  • For children from 16 to 18 years old - 224 cm.

Schoolchildren are also shown a game with a special lightweight ball. This is mainly true for girls under 14 years of age. Everything else is the same as for adults.

Warm-up

To avoid injury, warm up with your students before starting practice. Several laps around the hall, squats, arm swings. Then proceed to warming up the gear: upper, lower; and an offensive strike. Take care of knee pads and tight bandages on your fingers to avoid knocked out phalanges.
